They may have used it this way for the more techno tracks like this, but i think the main way was on the mixbus and not using the sidechain, instead driving the kick sub into it until it pumped
Would also be curious to know. It's the only non-plugin mixing tool that I have, I want to introduce it to my signal chain more but I know it can be tricky to get good results out of sometimes
I took one of these to the studio with me and all the old head’s started laughing and called it the Dirty6dirty! 😂😂 I thought it was just my connection, but turns out they all have horrible grounding issues
speed, flexibility, familiarity and it's more conducive to a performance based workflow. not to mention the high quality soundcards/DACs/preamps in some high end mixers like the Xone 92/96 or fancy rotary style DJ mixers. I'm sure the guy in the video would say the same things Personally though, I only do this for composition and maybe for laying down effects "performances" with lots of live manipulation (but I still view this as composition and arrangement too technically.) I rarely use a DJ mixer as a mixing/mastering tool. I'm sure there's some situations where I would (using the built in EQ on something tricky when plugins aren't getting it right) or something like that, which has the added bonus of separating the recording/mixing stages in my workflow. I used to frequently lose my creative momentum working on a song by halting everything for half an hour just to dial in a certain compresser or create the "perfect" delay, and using some hardware with a DJ mixer keeps me in performance/writing mode way better than a laptop screen and plugins do
Felt like i might jump into the screen! haha nice vid dude
Didn't expect to hear an Acid Techno BANGER in the demo, involuntary head nodding on my end.

They used both ways. Also secret trick - run it through multiple takes etc. just play with it. The 3630 is great for quick and dirty compression!
Can you elaborate on what you mean by multiple takes?
This is not techno. This is ACID! ACID IS LIFE!!! 🔥🔥🔥🗣️🗣️🗣️

How do you rout them?
Thinking of buying a 3630! I know daft punk used it for alot of their earlier stuff! In your opinion is it any good?
