    Also another reason to get Verizon FiOS is because each household gets its on network but with Comcast you have to share your network with your neighbors (if they have comcast). So more households mean more people on the network and when there more devices on the network then the network gets busy which causes it to slow down. Just ordered my Verizon FiOS service today 🤗

    • @ToolDeals
      @ToolDeals  3 роки тому +1

      I didn't know that about Verizon, but that is completely true. If the whole neighborhood has Comcast, you won't get the same speeds as there would be network congestion. Like in the early evenings around 6-8pm I used to get lower speeds because everyone was home from work. If you live in an apartment or condo it's particularly annoying! It's been so long since I had comcast I forgot all about that! Thanks for adding that bit of info.

    This video is great. Specifically because I live in the DMV area and am moving within the next month. I currently have Fios and was looking into the difference between both FiOS and Comcast. Def sticking with FiOS if I can.

    I live in Atlanta. Comcast seems to dominant here and it isn't fair. I was excited a few years back when I first heard about the possibility of Google coming through with their Fiber service, but it didn't happen. It would be nice if Verizon would hit here in Georgia and give them some competition.

    • @ToolDeals
      @ToolDeals  3 роки тому

      Sorry for the delayed response! I'm trying to catch up with comments. But yeah man it's sad. i was excited when Fiber was coming too but they stopped operations on it and they never made it to my side of town. Only other thing that's there is AT&T which, at the time when I lived in Atlanta wasn't much of any competition. I think they do have faster speeds now though so check them out.

    • @ToolDeals
      @ToolDeals  3 роки тому

      Yooooo so I just checked, and AT&T does have faster speeds! Doesn't compete with Comcast entirely but they are a suitable option. You can get 100Mbps for $35/mo for 12 months, or 1Gig (which definitely competes with Comcast) for $60/mo. I'd check them out for sure.

  • @515nathaniel
    @515nathaniel 2 роки тому +2

    You hit the nail on the head with this! Comcast has trained people to expect to be screwed over with the pricing.
    One small correction- In addition to a router, Fios requires an optical network terminal (ONT), which connects the fiber network to your household ethernet. You definitely have this somewhere in your house or apartment! But you don't have to buy it or rent it or anything; Verizon just takes care of it.

  • @victorgonzalez6200

    Very informative... I think everyone knows comcast is AWFUL but not everyone knows about the alternatives. However, one small correction: the speeds are not megabytes (ie 100MBPS VS 200MBPS) It's actually MEGABITS... there is a difference but it's stated as MBPS bc most ppl don't know. 1 megabyte equals 8 bits, I believe... But they all do that

    • @ToolDeals

    As someone that is a techie and understands the technology as well as have both of them at the high end. I will add some minor clarification. At the highest speeds Comcast is faster for download only. That's because they have 20% over provision which means that your speed can reach 20% over what you pay. This can't be achieved with there own equipment. But let's be real consistency upload speed anything else price Verizon. I'm switching everything to FiOS.

    • @ToolDeals
      @ToolDeals  3 роки тому

      I didn't know about that provision! Thanks for that info! With Fios, when I'm using Wifi and I'm close to the router I can get 300mbps. With 1 bar of reception, on a different floor on the opposite side of the house with the door closed, I have a Ping of 6ms, download of 98.72 and an upload of 44.22. It's also been 14 months with Fios and my bill is still exactly the same. Taxes and all fees included!

      @@ToolDeals so that is the limitations of the hardware you have also walls a brick ect for a good test of true speeds you need to check wired. You'll notice when checking your speeds they will stand very close because 5g had shorter range but faster speeds. 2g has longer range but slower speed.

    I have had consolidated communication ( formerly Fair point ) for 13 years for $45.00 a month. I am selling my home and moving to an apartment, unfortunately some Landlords will not allow the equipment needed for Fios to be attached to side of their building. Any ideas, I hate Comcast, I am in the North east.

    • @ToolDeals
      @ToolDeals  3 роки тому +1

      Try this site to see what's available in that area. tinyurl.com/cx3hj89 hopefully you can get more than Comcast. If not, just get their 200mbps plan. Should be $39.99/mo for 12 months and hope that an alternative service pops up within that time.
      Also, if you're moving to an apartment, ask if they have a Comcast sales rep. They generally do. If so, KEEP THEIR NUMBER. Hopefully they aren't a snake, but even if they are, they'll always work with you to cancel your account and get you into a new one so they can get commission. Just don't let them upsell you. The 200mbps will be fine and you can save a lot by buying your own equipment.
      Otherwise, that $39.99 will go up to around $95/mo after 12 months, and that's BEFORE taxes and equipment! You'll be paying about $120 for some average internet. Hope this helps!

      Their cheapest which should be 200mbps. I know with Verizon Fios that was about $39 or $49 per month. Xfinity will start off that price but it'll shoot to about $100/mo after 12 months. MOST people only need 200mbps. I run a whole ecommerce business from home, have 3 kids and a wife who all stream in 4K Netflix, Disney+, Prime, and HBO Max, I game and upload videos all at the same time sometimes. We have ring cameras, etc. 200mbps is plenty for us!

      Preach! That, and the prices going up after 12 months or 6 months are the REAL killers. Most could overlook the upload speeds (being a youtuber I can't), but those prices and data cap fees are terrible. Their proposition for getting around the data caps is to buy their unlimited plan, but that's just more money! You're paying for it either way. The way their operations are run is complete trash.

    I disagree with you the xb7 is the truth my speeds are crazy

    • @ToolDeals
      @ToolDeals  3 роки тому

      Your speeds are "crazy" because that's what you're paying for. Your modem didn't speed up your internet, your wallet did; unless you had a modem that was really old or defective. In addition to that, you can have the most powerful modem on the planet but that doesn't mean anything if there's an issue with your router (too far, slow, etc.)
      Finally, Comcast isn't better than Verizon when it comes to internet in no shape form or fashion. They cost more, they have insanely inferior upload speeds, their prices are bait and switch, and you need more equipment! As an aside, whenever your internet hangs and you need to hard reset, guess what you always have to reset? The modem. Fios doesn't use modems.
      So if you're saying Comcast/Xfinity is better and you disagree with me, you're clearly an employee who was told to make this comment or have a bias because you work there.

      @@ToolDeals I'm not defending Comcast, but their fiber internet service (Gigabit Pro) has symmetrical speeds. Like you said, realistically no average home internet user will ever come close to using that much speed.
      Another thing. Comcast sometimes advertises that plan (Gigabit Pro) on their website, but you have to call to order it. Based on what I've read, if you can get a hold of someone that knows what you're talking about, they have to send an engineering team to your home to do a site survey to see if they can actually bring the service. I think Lon from Lon TV (YT channel) has a video where he talks about the PITA it was to get Comcast to install this service.

    AT&T has been nothing good for us at all as far as home Internet TV providers or or mobile service provider and we’re going to switch after our next bill to boost Mobile which is only $30 a month for each plan because my mom and I use less than a gig of data per month like two gigs Max and our AT&T Internet provider we released recently eliminated the Cable and then Davis said it to me first tell us that there wasn’t an unlimited plan available even though when I cancel the Cable they assured me I would have an unlimited Internet plan. So my mom went and looked at her bank account and it showed that the last five or six months att have been charging us like $150 extra for a 1 TB plan and we’ve gone over and they want to charge us certain amount of money for the amounts that we go over until my mom called today and talk to someone who knew what they were talking about and who wouldn’t trying to swindle us or take it vantage of vulnerabilities but mama knows how to talk to people like this and demand transparency and demand that we get what we were offered to in the first place, and Internet bundle that we had before just because they want to do increase the value of our Internet service for the past 5 to6 months and that was because this one person claimed that you weren’t on an unlimited plan and that it didn’t exist which I knew it did because that’s what I switched over when I canceled the cable because everyone in the house streams and I finally convinced my mom just to use Philo because it all she wants to do is watch her lifetime and QVC and Home Shopping Network so she got Philo which has the three programs she needs to watch on top of the Internet only that we had and no matter what AT&T is been trying to sabotage us just because they want us to pay another $60-$100 to add a cable plan in order to get the unlimited Internet data. And we realized that we were available the unlimited data plan from the beginning because that’s what I was told I would get when I canceled the cable service and now we talk to someone professional at AT&T in regards of A technician and they said we would do the Internet plan for $30 plus $30 for the unlimited I just don’t understand why it takes three or four times with AT&T to actually change to the thing that you initially thought that was gonna be changed with the first person you talk to. And then only didn’t happen with the Internet TV service it also happened with our Internet provider is for our mobile phones that’s why we’re switching to boost Mobile for $30 for each of our plans since we only use a gig of data between the two of us. AT&T or crooked they want to get the most by taking advantage of people I have to no matter what anytime I change something on AT&T I have to call him back three or four times before I finally get the change that was promised to me, And I’m sick of dealing with AT&T and I looked in the wow and they have good benefits also not to mention 2 TB data plan whereas we were on a 1 TB Data plan before we talk to a real technician and said that we should’ve been an unlimited the whole time. What is so wrong if my brother and I don’t use the cable at all and all of us are streaming and I taught my mom that it’s beneficial that’s why she got philo which had all the programs that she watched for $20 a month. I just need help figuring out which Service to go with I know why I was a good service but my mom has something against them but AT&T are criminals not to mention that they say they offer fiber in my area every time I ask and then it ends up being the only hell up to 50 as the highest plan. Could you please help us out here we’re trying to save as much money as possible because we’re all in debt in debt and she’s got a lien on our condo because during the divorce settlement with my father he never paid for any of the taxes are back taxes and she got stuck with all that crap because she never hired divorce attorney. So she got stuck with all the back taxes for the floor foreclosure house that we were in before she ended up moving into the condo which was basically her settlement $47,000 condo which needed work to it as her settlement plan in the divorce
