I love the idea of epoxy grout. Probably one of the best inventions ever. I’ve only used mapei and don’t rate it. It only comes with part A and b and can’t really take out the powder as the ratio will be wrong, also I only had about 15 mins working time before it starts turning work hard and gave me epoxy burn for a week!
I watched your full video on using the Spectralock Pro epoxy grout in this bathroom before trying my own and attempted to follow your steps. I took out nearly 10% (about 380 grams) but when I mixed mine up it ended up feeling much thicker, and repeatedly trying to pack it into the joints caused it to become crumbly and constantly fall to the floor. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong? By the way thanks for all the videos. I've seen a lot of them and I think you really are one of the better teachers out there on youtube.
Discovered mixing it with a power drill made it set up faster. Mixing it by hand using a margin trowel was easy enough and it was more fluid. Per Spectralock do not exceed 150 RPM (which is pretty slow) NET: Unless you know the RPM of your drill motor or can insure slow RPMs your best bet is to mix it my hand, thorough and slow,, no need to whip it. stop mixing when you have a uniform color.
I just used this grout on some pebbles. It was my second time using it. I like it a lot but I feel like it started getting tough to trowel after about 30 min. I didn’t leave out any of the part C though so maybe that’s worth trying
How do you do multiple batches? Do the final clean on the first then start the second? The initial wash gets the remaining ungrouted tile really wet, does it need to dry first to do the second batch? Thanks
Per Laticrete you really do not want standing water in the joints when applying their epoxy grout. Its okay if the first batch starts to set up when you begin applying additional batches. Yes at some point the first batch will start to setup making it difficult to work into the joints but what has already been installed will not be so hard it can't be cleaned because it remains tacky for a while. Two Options: "If" your environment is cool (e.g.. 40F) it takes 2 hours before the epoxy it starts to set up and it will remain tacky for about 12 hours which should be plenty of time for you to do your clean up. Even at 70F you have 80 minutes working time and 4 hours of tacky time. If you're not in a hurry and are worried about the dreaded epoxy grout haze prefer to start the clean up following the first batch... once its clean use a shop vac to remove any excess water that has pooled in any grout joints still to be grouted... and wait for it to dry before starting the next batch
Sing along….Does the wall match the niche no it doesn’t. Does the pan match the floor no it doesn’t. If you don’t pick the right tile it’ll look like pile💩 If the bathroom looks like this then it’s shite 😂
I have a question, does it have silicone around where the water will drain or does it have grout in the shower?

Sounds like you're allowing additional air into the mixture, short version you're mixing it too fast and too long.

For sure, reducing part c really helps 👍 but also 30 minutes is getting towards the end time or great workability (dependent on environment)

So you do not need to grout and then silicone with epoxy? What do you prefer, this or SP1? What are the advantages/disadvantages of each product?
I go through all these details in longer video 👍 ua-cam.com/video/AJUpkLfa8SQ/v-deo.htmlsi=-Wfu1jGevRd9Fw6C
@ I watched it all just now, thanks.
What is your opinion about idea that inside corners have to be filled with silicon… because any type of els grout will crack in matter off time???
Yep TCNA recommendation for silicone.
That being said, I’ve never seen this epoxy grout crack
Why still make a niche in your bathroom from tiles. In Holland I always use a looox colour box. No more cracks in the grout or corner profile strips.
Firs question is where to buy
Links in description, Amazon is actually best price since it comes direct from laticrete

Very nice 👍
