One of the shows creators said about working with the band: ''What happens with Arcane is that we shall get sent some rough storyboards and there will be a temp track attached, it was a song that immediately made me think that Tyler Joseph has to write this. The moment was designed for this band and we knew that Tyler was a fan of the show and that they wanted to do something with us. He never really writes for anything else, but he loves the show so they wanted to see it and we sent it over. Literally three days after he got the scene, we got the song back, when that one came in it was like, ‘Okay, well, that’s it’. We were able to work really closely with them to create this moment. He’ll tell his own story about it, but he has his own investment in what the song means to him. But he really loves the show so he was so into being part of the world and trying to tell the story. He’s an exceptional songwriter, and he’s always been one of my favourite writers, lyrically. That’s a very masterful skill; to take specific stories and make them universal. There’s a handful of writers at any given time on the planet that do that well, and Tyler’s definitely one of them.”
Thanks for sharing this 🙏 by context I figured it was a show but had never heard of it before! Leave it to Tyler to smash it out of the park so quickly 💛
Thanks for sharing this! Def makes me wanna watch the show now even tho it's not my typical type. Would expect nothing less from our Tyjo. He never disappoints. |-/
Also a great farewell to vander being unable to fight for the ones he loves with his body literally on the line being turned into an empty puppet to be used against the ones he loves the most
Hey Jesse, I love both the track and the video. Tyler’s voice is so vulnerable and yet full of melancholy and questioning, but naturally and quietly mellifluous. Tyler explained in a pre-premier introduction to the track that it is dedicated to his grandma who died recently, and he was there with her at the end when she passed. Personally my interpretation of the song is that Tyler is wondering whilst watching his grandmother die, what her last memories of him would be, and if he’s lived up to her expectations for him. I think he feels that somewhere along the line he’s disappointed her a little and he wishes he could keep her there with him a little longer, safe under the tight blanket, perhaps until he’s proved himself worthy. Also, maybe suggesting she fragile in that moment of passing the threshold and he’s reassuring her by asking her to lock eyes with him in order to provide her with a recognisable face to focus on at the final moment. However, he’s not prepared for life without her presence and he’s feeling like he could go into a dark place of grief where he doesn’t look after himself “Hence my body’s on the line now”. Tyler’s realising at the same time he’ll be where she is one day and will have to face his own fears relating to death. He’s later, after her death, questioning himself whether he has he done enough to grant him entrance into heaven join her when he does pass. Is he or will he ever be ‘good’ enough and he doesn’t want those whose decision it is to see he’s feeling weak, and that despite trying everything to redeem himself, he still feels a little unworthy.
The final notes of Paladin Strait are also at the start of The Line. The Piano at the end that you enjoyed, is the piano at the start of Overcompensate. It's a loop. There's always a loop. It may be promoted for Arcane, but it also fits easily into tge Dema lore. The music loop functions to ties the song to the lore.
“Something about Tyler’s voice just makes me feel like I want to give the guy a hug…and it probably wouldn’t help” 😭 Right?! Such vulnerable lyrics & delivery 🥺
From what Tyler said, to introduce the video, his side of the song not related to the series was being in the room with his grandmother as ahe passed away. It also relates to the Arcane series 2 with the characters in the series its on Netflix if you like animation. Great reaction awesome job Jesse
This song was love at first hear for me :D always loved Tyler's voice and here it's displayed wonderfully. Can't stop listening. Thanks for reacting to this
Can you imagine if Tyler and Paul collaborated on an entire film score or soundtrack? This song sounds even more cinematic in the car. Maybe now that Tyler is wrapping up the Dema storyline he will be able to work on other creative projects. I heard the Arcane series on Netflix is really well done. I’m sure Tyler has been asked to do quite a few soundtracks, but he’s so selective.

There is nothing like having another creative acknowledge one’s creativity! It’s a special affirmation!
@@Beldvlmnt oh dude, you hav to watch it, Arcane is a masterpiece
In parallel to Arcane, song hits so hard cuz it’s the moment Viktor leaving his humanity behind.😭😭
Also a great farewell to vander being unable to fight for the ones he loves with his body literally on the line being turned into an empty puppet to be used against the ones he loves the most

Omg I didn’t even notice!!! Listening again right now
@Beldvlmnt I'm not a musician, but I've seen edits on Instagram showing both transitions. Maybe you'll find them on there.
This song grabbed my heart from the first listen, that doesn’t always happen. Each listen since just lets me know this is something special. ✌🏻
Arcane is one of the best animated shows, or just shows in general, of recent years. Highly recommend.

this is a parallel to Paladin Strait...Clancy is crossing over to be a Bishop...he's conflicted and hopes his Banditos don't forget him
It's so beautiful yet so sad. I can't stop listening to it. 😭💔
Arcane is insanely good you should definitely check it out u don’t even have to know anything about league of legends
Love hearing through your lens, always adds so much! |-/
I can just picture Viktor singing this to Jayce, it’s such a beautiful song
this song fits the scene it plays in so perfectly, you have to watch arcane at some point, it has so many good soundtracks and it's a masterpiece
Song was made specifically for the scene

They reached out to him because they knew he was a fan and would be interested
