How to get an operators license

- If you are going for your operator's license you can either get a firm to do it for you or you can do it yourself. I decided to do it myself and short of a couple of small mistakes, the whole thing went okay. @@PetetheCourierDriver cheers mate. Apart from overheads being higher, have you seen a positive difference in profit since moving from the vans on to the heavy goods? I’m a class 1 driver but will be trialing the courier sector self employed on a van first before jumping in the deep end. If

Thanks Pete, this is the most informative video I've seen on this matter. Out of interest though, I watched another video recently and they mentioned that the 8k you need for the first truck needs to be set aside and untouched in the bank. Basically you leave that there and other running costs such as rent for the yard, fuel, truck hire etc comes from other money on top of the 8k that you set aside. Is this true? 🤔 or can you just use a portion of that 8k to run your business until your invoices are paid.

Hi Pete regarding the 7.5t trucks I have grandfather rights. I gather from what you have said I need to do the CPC and get my Digi card. Do I need to get an operators licence if I am going to be an owner driver?

OK so I'm intending to get my operators licence but I only have 9k to set my buisness..with my statements been zero could I just put abit in each month for two and when Iver 8400 just use that statement
Pete, how sure are you that you can show credit as your funds to apply for an o licence? I’ve a licence for two trucks and trailers and I had to show the funds in my bank on a bank statement for 3 month period and that was 3 years ago

You only need a medical if you're driving anything over 7.5t such as class 2 or 1
Pete, what type of operators licence do I need to transport my own goods (Scaffolding)
It's the orange restricted one. Anything other than your own goods then you need the blue UK national one.
