Based on some high school arithmetic, a few shut-off valves installed closer together within Houston would have saved the company a lot of money. Also invest in some inexpensive concrete barriers to place around critical valves and exposed piping.
Who is the driver of the SUV. Alive? Dead? Hurt? Drunk? Heart attack? Terrorist? Blind? On the cell phone? Disgruntled employee? Thing we really want to know😮
I'm surprised the fire looks about the same height for the whole of this nine hour recording. Those paying for gas watch their energy company watch it burn.
I'm betting $10 that no one from the company or the Texas government will ever answer for their negligence, which allows this fire to continue. Other shut-off systems should have worked.
This valve was hit by an SUV that crashed through a chain link fence before hitting the valve. I don't see how one can blame the pipeline owner for someone else's act. Perhaps some commenters should give up gasoline, natural gas, electricity, water and other utilities as all of these structures could see accidents by third parties. Let's not forget any materials derived from mines as cave in accidents have occurred over time. And thanks for the 20/20 hindsight. Take your foresight and prevent accidents. Hindsight is of little value.
