I had one in ohio that i sold to a friend about 15 yrs. ago. It looks just like the one you are showing You could eat off the motor and had the same sticker on the cover. Loved it. Troll all day.
Best motors ever.So durable.nothing like the crap they build today. We use to ran ours with 1 litre of strait 30 oil for 5 gallons of gas,I even thing the manufacture recommended that but I am not sure We had a 5 hp,5.5 hp,7.5 hp 10 hp and 18 hp. I still get the odd 2 stroke 1970 vintages from the steel scrap bin fix then and put them to good use.at the back of smaller boats they are so much better because of the light weight.right now i have a 9.9hp and a 4 hp they are bought 2 pullers every time. Nice find
david quinn that would be about 20:1. They actually recommend 16:1. I have been using Walmart's brand of oil Supertech. I think it smokes less than Pennsoil I used. I should try the Johnson oil to see if it is any better smoke wise. but yes they are great motors. they are as old as I am.
I have been using the Walmart brand Supertech. It seems to smoke less than some Penzoil outboard oil I tried. Next season I want to try regular Johnson -Evinrude oil to see how it is with smoke. At 16:1 it is going to smoke regardless of the brand.
Sorry I didn't see this earlier. No a new fuel tank will not work unless a fuel pump is added to the motor and a few modifications are made. UA-cam has several videos on the conversion. I would look for a pressure tank. They have a double hose, one for pressure from the engine crankcase to pressurize the tank, and the other hose supplies fuel to the motor. Be sure to use 16:1 gas oil mix using TCW3 outboard motor oil. Walmart sells their brand of oil that is of good quality.
Thats the way they run And run like that forever. They are the best ever made

Any chance this might be the same motor? The paint is not worn on my prop, not even scratched.
Greg Offenback could very well be.
@@deankillinger6388 Any chance you have the serial number written down? I bought it from a young lad in Grand Rapids Michigan.

Great deals are out there, and you found a gem, congrats !
I have a 5.5 fisherman model 5512. Started it a couple times to set carb. Died an now its hard to pull
It's in nice shape
I just acquired the same motor but don’t have a fuel tank. Will a modern tank work on motor?
