    Thanks for taking the time to share your shaving experiences with the public like this, it has been a tremendous help to individuals like me taking up de shaving for the first time. Without you and a couple other mentors on youtube, I might have abandoned the switch and missed out on what I now consider a rewarding skill. Thanks again and look forward to watching you in the future.

    Hi Paul, I'm Marco from Italy. As a great fan of wet shaving (actually i'm a beginner about shaving creams, soaps, brushes and safety razors) I just love your videos, i find them very relaxing and you put so much passion in shaving, I suggest you to use some italian shaving products. Try some Proraso refereshing and nourishing shaving creams and soaps. Absolutely great stuff, i'm sure you appreciate them!
    Great choice with the Tabac soap, the stick is one of my favourites! Cheers from Italy!

    Hello paul. Happy new year mate. As you like the evin Lemon aftershave so much you should try Taylor of bond street Lemon and lime shaving Cream. It is lovely stuff. Also another way to shave around the Adams apple is to swallow and hold it for a second or two. Take care. Glenn.

    Thanks Roger, yes shaving with a bit of history using the Gillette Tech, great little razor, using the DE89L handle sounds a good idea too. I have heard of Thanksgiving Day in America, hope you have a great day. All the best. Paul.

    I normally use very hot water, dismantle the razor, then dip it in Arko Cologne, as it has alcohol in it, then dry it with a towel. I have 100% alcohol on order though. Thanks. Paul.

    Dead Sir, Lovely archival footage. I recently acquired a 1940 fat handle tech, and it pairs rather well with my Wilkinson Sword (from India). I like the grip offered by the handle. It is a mild razor that requires two passes, and a little bit of "pick up time!" . Was this video filmed before you met Mrs. H? I noticed the absence of an exquisite floral arrangement.

  • @PaulHFilms
    @PaulHFilms  12 років тому

    Yes the Evin is good, I get it from a Market in Liverpool where I also buy Arko products, it is Turkish. Not seen it on the web either.

    Hi Paul S.O,T.D my new EJ 3D the DE89 I already have came in a EJ shaving kit I purchased when I first returned to DE shaving but it has the long handle but I prefer short handles I have used it twice with a Feather and it feels so much better with the short handle.
    I am going to try it with an Astra today. Cola brush, Tabac soap not proper Tabac the vegan version sad day when Tabac changed formula and now MWF have taken the same route. Unless it involves health issues I much prefer the tallow version.
    Enjoy your afternoon tea and kind regards to you and Mrs H.
    Keep well and keep safe.

    You should like the blades, a tip with blades, after you finish shaving, dismantle razor and clean blade carefully with a cloth, it makes the blade last longer and can stop irritation by giving a clean cutting action. I think the only issue with a cheaper soap or cream would be, you would have to work it more, in the lathering stage. but $10 - $30 should be very good quality.

  • @PaulHFilms
    @PaulHFilms  12 років тому

    Yes they fetch a good price now, good razors.

  • @PaulHFilms
    @PaulHFilms  12 років тому

    Shame to hear about the issues, I think as long as you prep your face with hot water first, a shaving cream may be best to try before soap, and see if that makes a difference, maybe see what setting you have the Merkur on, and try a less aggressive setting, 1 - 3 maybe, wilkinson sword or Personna are good blades, and no pressure when shaving is a must with this razor, just let it do the work. Also on the first pass, look at the direction of growth and follow it best you can. Hope this helps. :)

  • @HesheR82
    @HesheR82 12 років тому

    Thanks Paul :) I do prep but to be honest I have not mapped out my hair growth. Il do that for sure. So a cream is better for beginners then soap also good to kbow. I like how you shave from middle of face out lol I always my entire life dud right to left, but I find my lather gets dry by the time I get to other side lol. So il be trying that also. Il be ordering the blades you mentioned and maybe a few more to try out. ? Do you find a 10$ shave cream or soap less productive then say a 30$

    Am just getting interested in the Gillette Tech razors. I don't have one, but I like how they hold the blades, with the four tabs, and a bar, I think.

    • @PaulHFilms
      @PaulHFilms  8 років тому

      Yes they hold the blade well, as long as the tabs are not very worn, which they are not most of the time......hope you get one Don.....all the best.....Paul.

    Hey Paul! I love your videos, I just started wet shaving over a month ago. I got the murker futur I really love it but hate the lack of grip :(. So I'm having issues with after 3 pass still having stubble on neck and getting irritation. Is it my technique or blade ? I only have the astra green blades. I use proasco cream and soap. Can you recommend a blade or soap. Just anything to help me with getting a better shave lol.

  • @HesheR82
    @HesheR82 12 років тому

    Hi Paul. So I got perssona bladed like you suggested and had an amazing shave then astra. Cleaned dried and put in FUTUR on stand on counter. 5 days later shaved again and it cut my face up and irritation lol. Could the shower steam have corroded it after 5 days ?

    heya PaulHFilms i love your videos. i'd loooove to here your comparison on the gillette tech and a baili BT131 also known as the DE1 by razorock. if i'm not mistaken, that baili is about 2 pounds in british currency. it's 5 american dollars. forgive me for being ignorant of the exchange rate between our 2 great countries

    I prefer to put the moisturizing cream on and let it seep in before I put on a cologne. I do this because cologne seals the pours making it difficult to moisturize afterward.

    You shave fast. Looks like you use a lot of pressure with the Tech. Is that true?

    • @PaulHFilms
      @PaulHFilms  6 років тому

      No, I don't use pressure, it may look that way maybe.....but it works best without pressure (for me)...all the best John.

  • @PaulHFilms
    @PaulHFilms  12 років тому

    That sounds pretty bad, I expect if your washroom gets very steamy it could effect the blade, but it should'nt corrode after 5 days, but yes oil would stop that happening, good luck with it..also try "No" pressure when shaving, if you already don't that is, let the razor do the work for you, it should reduce irritation for you. Paul
