Thank you for sharing your videos of Anderson SC. My family is from that area ,( Shaw-Whitfield ) I make a trip every summer to visit. Nothing like that South Carolina kindness! I have fond memories of staying at the Vatrice Motel, it was near the fairgrounds. I think all that remains is what was the office, its a towing company now. Thanks again for sharing!
Thanks for posting this. Man oh man Anderson sure has changed alot. It looks so "lifeless", so "rundown" now, so "raggy." In the 70's it was so vibrantly beautiful.
Loved this video. I lived in Anderson for 31 years before moving to Jax Florida in 93. Will be moving back to Anderson soon. Had alot of wonderful memories growing up there. Although it is growing by leaps and bounds you only have to take a quick spin around town to find all of those memories. Happy that so many of those places are still standing. Anders9n...home to good down home people!!
Used to get jolly rancher hard candy at the gas station across from McCants for 5 cents and sell them for 20 cents.. And Old man Thrasher used to sell us 9th grade guys beer with our hotdogs when we skipped class... Memories
When crossing the viaduct bridge, the building that rises up beside it has been through many transitions. From Yellow Cab to Bus Station and many years before it was my grandfather's barber shop called Tip Top Barber Shop. His name was Roy Rogers and died in 1965.
Lol.. the old gas station across from McCants.. we used to buy 10¢ jolly ranchers sticks in the morning with lunch money and sell them in school for 25¢.. made a killing!
David,I only did downtown area only of Anderson.WS is in the county on 28 by-pass.But I do belive that WS was once located somewhere off Market street in the city.

The hotel on the square was the Chiquola Hotel.
Name of movie theater was State Theater. Osteen Theater was on Main Street.
Home sweet home
I'm thinking that shoe shop may have been called Silvery Shoe Shop. That came to mind.
McCants look like an inner city high school with a football stadium in the back. Hell it's bigger than some high Schools to this day. 82-85 baby!!!!!!
