there's been reports of the connectors literally melting and start smoking hope that issue was taken care of on that card
GN did a video on it, it came down to user error (cable not plugged in all the way) and foreign object debris or some shit

overkill is great, being able to use your monitor to its max no matter the game sounds incredible on top of always being able to upgrade your monitor down the line after you recover from dropping 1600 on a gpu

Regarding GPUs the difference in performance between brands is actually minimal because that's still the same gpu, what sets them apart is build quality and customer service in case something fails.
That still should not matter that much regarding mid-high tier cards but this gap in build quality and manufacturing can become quite substential with top-tier products like the 4090 to the point where you could lose performance.
Unless it was unavailable he could've bought an asus or founder's edition card to reduce the risk of having issues especially with this card.

Zotac gets a lot of hate but they really aren’t bad. I’m the type to pay way more for a better brand when it comes to technology, but I think all except for PNY GPUs are good. Most have triple fan cooling and the chances of a GPU failing and not getting warranty are so low that I don’t think it’s worth paying a few hundred more, unless you’re intending to overclock (which imo is a bad idea with a high end GPU).
@@jackpulley541 Well obviously that's why you pay more for these, but the margins are still within 1 to 3% performance wise. In comparison the gain in temps, noise and stability are far greater switching to a higher quality brand.

@@kodakenta you are right zotac is very trash it ruined my first pc built the zotac card i bought was gtx1050 i was not do much gaming on it back then i was mainly use for browsing only the card is very poorly build always getting an error and it break after about a year and it suppose to have a 3years warranty but they would not change for me and it just only a year i went and bought an msi card amd rx560 and it still work till this day (i put it on my brother pc now)

He's 100% wrong about the brand hate. Zotac makes the most dogshit, prone to damage aftermarket cards. Worst part is that their customer service is complete ass as well.
Take my advice go for an Asus or EVGA if money is not an issue, or Galax/Inno 3d if you're on a budget.
Using galax 3050 for like 3 months, no problems yet. Idk about higher end cards.

Not because I agree, but because it's a ludicrous statement to make for a company of that much history, the 40 series should burn unless they drop prices by at least 30% overall. Otherwise, hopefully the real dumbasses - aka the people who actually bought these cards (outside of professional use and in Xqc's case - millionaires) arent enough to sustain Nvidia and they learn from this mistake by the next releases.
