Wow, I'd never have thought that someone from my locality (Northern Territory, Australia) Would get on to a reaction channel.
Medtjin is the Yolngu word for Medicine and most of the song is in Yolngu language. There are many first nations languages, this one is from the north east region of the Northern Territory Australia.
Another two artists from that region well worth checking out are:
    1) Yothu Yindi who are a dance/rock act that achieved world fame in the late 80s early 90s with 2 singles "Treaty (filthy lucre mx)" and "Djapana (sunset dreaming)"
    2) Gurrumul (now known as Dr G. Yunupingu as Aborigines don't refer to people that have passed by their name) he was the nephew of one of the main founders and songwriters for Yothu Yindi and found fame in the 2010s on his own as a singer songwriter even performing with artists like Sting and also performing in front of the Queen. His song "Wiyathul' is very well worth checking out.
Oh I forgot to mention Gurrumul is also blind.
For some more indigenous Australian rap I would point you to someone like Briggs his song "Bad Apples" or AB Original and his song "January 26"
Thank you for taking the time to read my comment.

I love this mate, I'm born in Czechoslovakia, grew up in NZ, AUS an Europe and listen to Baker Boy! He is one of my favourite Hip Hop artists. Some serious talent and skill. I second the artists that you mentioned. They all make the hair on my head stand up. like Beethoven or Mozart can. Amazing stuff.

Baker Boy is from Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory. His first language is Yolngu Matha. In an interview I saw recently he said he prefers not to translate, as it's all on the internet and it would be great if people would check it out themselves. Great point. To learn a language is to learn a culture, and even checking out a few basic words and phrases you start to get an insight into cultural formalities in greetings, etc.
Baker Boy is such a positive, upbeat person and performer. Love his ads on the tv too.

It's awesome Baker Boy is getting some international love.
    Meditjin means 'medicine'.
Check out 'Marryuna' by Baker Boy as well, another fun song.
As a Aussie abroad, it's nice to see a little of home pop up in my recommendations.
Aussie hip hop / rap to me is a little more chill the the rest of the world, not always about drugs, money and a lifestyle.
Hilltop Hoods, Drapht and Thundamentals are also awesome to check out as well if you wanted another taste of Australian hip hop.

I’m late to this party. Came looking for US reaction to Baker Boy coz I feel like he is world class but not getting the recognition he deserves. Just wanted to say that the music video is in the Australian National Gallery and they are dancing in front of white colonial art pieces. I love the symbolism of Indigenous artists reclaiming that space.

He actually dances a lot more in some of his other clips, he was fairly passive in this one. He does full choreographed dances during his live shows too, it's amazing to see. To see him dance more in some of his other amazing songs try Marryuna and cool as hell

You should check out his best track "marryuna" his identity shines through well.
This track is totally 90's ish style hip hop.
He started out in a tribal community and then he went to Melbourne and went to B Boy classes and then fell into rapping. He plays the "didgeridoo" or Yidiki (is one of the proper names).
This track shows off all his skills:

This video is incredible - reclaiming a space full of colonial art, fusing hiphop and traditional indigenous dance and music. It's a very pointed message that's easy to miss if you're not familiar with the last 200-odd years of Aus history. It ain't pretty.

Just a little tip on your pronunciation of Aussie. The double "s" is more of a z sound and the "a" is more of an o (just say it like you would Ozzy Osbournes name).
Now I'm not big on rap (my love of rap starts and ends with Rage against the Machine) but I saw this and had to see your thoughts on him. It blew me away how good the bilingual lyrics sounded on first listen and the didgeridoo in the mix kicks ass. All music could benefit from more didgeridoo

He's aboriginal I think from the NT, and what you are hearing is "medicine" but more than half of the version you are listening to is what aboriginals call "Language." It's a combination of english, and aboriginal language. It's very powerful if you hear it often.
I'm from Chicago, But I live down here and it's almost painful at how well some of the artists hold on to the "language" and the dancing is NECESSARY for the culture. Baker Boy is tied to the culture tight.
