      Thank you!!...but do the names mean anything? Like "Evil Temple"? Or are they just place names that mean nothing like "Tokyo"?

    • @luizm-s9t
      @luizm-s9t 4 роки тому +10

      @@MaleOrderBride the characters do have meaning, like tokyo, for instance, mean east 東 capital 京, but some might have their meaning changed over the years, so even if you search the characters separatedly on a dictionary, it might not be very accurate.
      Edit: I didn't really answer your question, but yes, they are just place names, they don't have specific meanings in the game (like evil castle, for example).

    Kenseiden (剣 聖 伝 in Japanese, meaning "legendary sacred sword") is a 2 mega game for the Sega Master System video game, created by Sega in 1988.
    In this game, the player controls a samurai named Hayato, who travels through Japan to retrieve the Dragon King's Sword and the five scrolls that are inherited from his family, stolen by the Warlocks who ruled the country, and destroy Black Castle.
    In the original Japanese version of the game, Hayato is blond, but in the American version his hair changed to dark.
    A drawing of Alex Kidd's head shows hidden in the walls of the third stage.

Also parts of the 2nd stage reminds me of the 'Castle' stage in GG Shinobi 2 and the 2nd stage boss is similar to the Genesis version of Shadow Dancer's 4th stage boss. Seems like fun

    After 25 years, I can finally see how this game ended. I vividly remember playing this when I was a kid. I mastered all the controls and the challenges, even getting up early Saturday mornings to play this, but I could NEVER beat that final boss. A little pro tip that I picked up for the penultimate boss at 31:40, I use to just crouch down and hold the attack button. This way any orbs that came flying your way would automatically get cut down by your sword, without having to mash the attack button.

      The potion happens automatically if you have one. It's close to impossible to beat the last boss without it so if you use yours up it's game over.
      It's also more or less a necessity to beat the one training room that gives you the life boost (on same island as monk boss.)

    one of my favorite games ever. Loved everything about it: the nocturnal setting and yokais, the hard gameplay, nonlinear exploration, the crazy sword powerups, the graphics and last and greatest - the music is just too good.
    And don't be fooled by the half-hour Speedrun here: you'd lose weeks or months until mastering all its secrets it to be able to beat it. There was no save in this game.
    I always thought it was some arcade port such was its quality.

      Chris Whitson Yeah, it's definitely the same team. AM8/Team Shinobi/Overworks.
      GG Shinobi has a very similar stage to the "vertical" castle stages in Kenseiden.

    • @Haeresiarchonte

      Yeah, I could use gameshark, gamegenie or actionreplay codes to finish this game, and I'm not reluctant to cheat on a game as long as it's Player VS CPU, but on this type of game, a complete video playthrough is enough. But, eventhough I have nothing against getting more money or better weapons in a RPG lasting 60 hours just to make the game a bit easier, there's just no point in cheating on these old platformers. They were made harder just so you played them for hours, else you'd finished 'em in 20 minutes flat. A good cheater is one who knows when to cheat, and to which extent. Back in the days, getting to endgame was accessory, 'cuz ye knew the end would consist on a engrish text on a black screen with a still image at best, followed by a staff roll using only nicknames.
