Great video. This too captures the heritage of ruffed grouse and woodcock hunting. Couldn't agree more, it is more about the experience. I have had great years, great dogs, great shots, great friends and family to poor years, no dogs, poor shooting and getting ghosted when hunting solo. The woods, the smell, the chase, the dogs, the guns, the comradery keeps me coming back. I like to share this with my young daughters and people that don't get to experience this otherwise. I have only hunted them in northern MN and also blue grouse hunting in the mountains. Can't wait to get out next week!
I want so bad to book a hunt with you, but my Brittany, 'Gunner', is only 11 weeks old now. I am learning to shoot a SxS 16 gauge from the Czech Republic, and making a lot of holes in the air. I am 62 years young, but have hunted in the UP for Grouse in 1978. I like what I see here and, with more training and a better score with the 16, I will be hitting you people up for a slot in the 2019 season for birds. You Northern folk are so warm and forgiving of us lower people from under the bridge. I hope Gunner and I will get to meet you this fall.
Another world class video, keep it up and the views will come. Just like chasing the king of game birds its a noble pursuit. That got me fired up, just gotta wait 2 more weeks!!!
Just saw this. Jerry Havel you look "mah velus!" I had such a great time at Pine Ridge with my buddy Shawn Price, you, Earl, Kevin and all the guys at the camp. I still dream about actually killing a grouse over your dogs. Great film! You are the best Jerry!!
I love your tribute to the partidge/grouse. But it would be a lot more impressive without dogs, the way 80% do it, There's a special way to go through th woods, and STOP. stay still, one will fly up if it's there. That's down to the bones hunting!
