Another good one Steve! Really enjoyed this interview, lots of good snippets of operational info, some good tech info on the Tornado and funny stories too. Ticks all the boxes!
Does anyone recall the Tornado IDS’ struggling at mid-altitude in Gulf War 1.0 due to the engines being high-bypass turbofans which were designed that way because the mission was always penetration of the Soviet air defences at low level?? I remember this being in the news at the time.
Your podcast is second to none. I really have enjoyed this as well as many others you have uploaded. Please keep up the hard work and thank you again for the great content.
@@10percenttrue I’m glad I can support you and your awesome channel. Can’t wait to see what you have lined up for the future. Hoping for some Tomcat stuff! But you are really opening my eyes to the British ways in the Cold War. Once again many thanks for all your hard work with this stuff and can’t wait to enjoy more.
Excellent interview, yet again! Learned some stuff about the IDS! (I had never even considered the effects of chaff on the TFR over the battle-space! Good point!) Love to hear about the “going over the Fulda gap” scenarios.
subbed and appreciate the work gone into finding these pilots and arranging the interviews, can I suggest trying to reach out to Vietnam War pilots who flew second-generation fighters?? It’d be good to interview the pilots of the different aircraft used, but I’d like to see at least a USN F-4 pilot interviewed, once again thank you for sharing your passion.
Thank you! Expect some Wild Weasel and F-105D interviews before the summer is out :) I am also trying to line up a certain five-time US Navy MiG killer, but we'll have to see whether I can land that one... if I can, you'll get the F-4 interview and more :)
@@10percenttrue awesome, it’d be good to have their experiences documented as they’re getting on in age. Also, here’s a link to a documentary from Radio Television Serbia documenting the experiences of Serbian MiG-29 pilots during the war in 1999, it’s called “None of them refused”, it has english subtitles ua-cam.com/video/M2E2MU4xvFU/v-deo.html
Thoroughly enjoyed this, onto part 2
Brilliant episode chaps.
Thanks, Mike!

Thank you, Bogdan!
Very good Mike seems a decent "Growbag", brings it all back thanks
Another great video, I'm off to practice my Dutch pilot searching for a Tornado impression!😂😂😂
It did make me chuckle!

Brilliant interview as always thanks Steve and Naps. Looking forward to part II 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks, Richard! It’ll be out next Friday
