@jediflip2515 I would love to I just gotta invest into the tools! I'm 17 and I own a 2012 Ford focus and I discovered that the rear strut mount is broken. It's 180 bucks to replace it at the mechanic when the piece is like 40 bucks on amazon lol. I I watched a video on how to replace the rear strut mount and I thought it was easier than building legos when you got a lift😂 I understand the mechanic gotta make a profit but dang, it hurt my wallet as a student. I would be doing all my repairs since most repairs can be done by the average Joe unless its more mechanically complicated then I'd feel safter taking it to a mechanic. If I had the right dam tools I'd b my own mechanic. Mechanics make alot of money charging Y's so mych cuz they got the big expensive tools that we don't, so I guess it's pretty reasonable.
@@bigstr9178 If you have the room for tools and working on your car it saves you money. Some basic hand tools a jack and stands would be a few hundred. If you don't want to buy specialty tools parts stores have loaner tool programs.
Yeah easy as shit on a lift but so is everything else. Do a set of shocks on a gravel driveway with nothing but a 1 ton walmart jack and some old craftsman ratchets and then talk shit lol

Of course, it does not count the gathering of the tools needed, taking the wheel off, and lifting up the car. But then again as some have pointed out, it all depends on the type of car.
This is for rear the rear of car doesn't have coil (strut) because most of weight is in front you got the transmission the engine all the coolant oil etc the back of car doesn't have all that all it needs are what the video shows is shock absorbers
Mine is from Michigan covered and caked in rust and I'm using hands tools with no lifts, while you're at a shop, with lifts, shade, power tools, and almost looks like you're replacing new parts with new parts, a woman could do that, no offense to women of course
30 min per bolt Just did my 04 Ram rear. The nuts and bolts were rusted together and all I have is a can torch. Couldn't break them with the 24in breaker bar or 1/2 air ratchet. And I was on the ground. Heat and then muscle worked.
Torque spec who? I ain't no mechanic but that's probably not the way you do it also whyd you raise the arm if the least pressure for shock was all the way down?
Not only that but it's going to be a mess for the next guy to take it off because using air tools stretches the bolts and the threads! And it's not even torque to spec!!
To all the clowns complaining about labor fees. Buy or rent a building, hire some techs, buy a lift and shop tools, buy a shop keepers insurance policy that costs more than you make in a year, and any other business expenses that you need just to open the door, and do the job yourself. Let's say the job took 15 minutes for both sides. How much could a shop possibly make charging actual labor? The business wouldn't survive a month. You don't expect a parts store to install the parts for free, why would you expect a shop to? Lets play a game of make believe. Instead of calling the work labor charges, lets call it installation fees. Kind of like other types of products that need to be installed by a qualified professionals, like your AC system, or your security system, or your water heater, etc....

Everything's easy when you got a lift
And the part is actually easy to remove not tangled and a bunch a stuff so idk about 2min on other models
Or you don’t live in the Midwest
You can replace place a trucks rear shocks with it on the ground and no lift.

Billed as 2 hrs and made that poor customer sit waiting lol
Definitely not a salt belt car.
I moved from Colorado to Kentucky a few years back. Cars are screwed up out here
Never seen rust before, gotta be nice
Impressive work! 👏🏼

Nice work.
Nice design, No Rust, and a Lift. Well yea. Would hope it takes 2 minutes 🙃🤣
Do you have to buy springs separately? What are they called?
Everyone is talking shit and man literally replaced a shock. "Oh you have a lift so its easier". Its 2 bolts
Yeah of course when shocks and springs is separate is easy and fast
Yeah if I got impact tool and a lift, I probably can do as fast.
Rofl, took more than 2min to get the car jacked up! Fing engineer's had to put the shocks in the coils that turn this quick fix into hrs 😒...

Can you use a longer extension. Lol
If u have a hydraulic lift in your house

On a lift. No rust. No rubber upper mount. Air tools.
If it was a Nissan rogue you'd be there for at least ten per side
Anything over 6 ugga duggas is crazy

On Ford Panthers the top mount can only be reached with a wrench. That makes it real fun.
