... the spren get their own talent tree? That is super interesting. It has to be more than just radding radiant spren actions to the action list. Maybe that is where the ideal talents are as well?
@@clockworktuba That part of the tree represents your bond to your spren, so it can impact your spren, or anything related to your bond. I'll share more details next week!
So you created one of my favorite resolution mechanics in an RPG ever, and now, you're leading the team making one of the most exciting RPGs I've seen in a long while. Man, I'd back twice if I could afford it. Cheers.
The number of path options and the openess makes me curious how many levels the system will have, assuming a traditional level system like Pathfinder or 5e. I know Andrew worked on the FFG Star Wars system, so it's possible it may not even have a cap on the number of "levels" you can take
Loving theses videos guys! August can’t come soon enough. I know y’all have a Cosmere playlist, but a playlist dedicated to these stormlight rpg videos would be awesome. Keep up the great work!
The Kickstarter does have a digital option, and Sando said something about it being on Roll20 (and a bunch of other VTTs I can't remember). Tl;dr: yes.
Hmm, interesting, all the ideals for the dustbringer are in one branch of the tree. And I don't see the fifth ideal anywhere on the tree. There is one branch for each surge which it looks like you can get regardless of ideal. Also I wonder if there will be anything in the game calling them releasers. The longer I see these teasers, the more influences I see from other games, I love it.
We've only done a single liveplay and some demos at Dragonsteel con so far, but coming up soon we'll have some ways for you to check out the game in action!
@@ElijahDawkins-yb1uc We don't have a recording of the game at Dragonsteel unfortunately. The audio got a bit messed up, but some clips are salvageable, so we may upload them around the Kickstarter.
Out of curiosity, will the Kickstarter have a quickstart/sample adventure when it launches? I've seen that in a couple campaigns recently and it's always nice to get to try out the system, even if it's not fully finished
Ashspren - 2nd ideal - 3rd - 4th - Beyond Bond(?) / Take Squire Dust cloud - ??? - Stormlight Mark(?) The rest no idea. I do think it’s really cool that we can specialize in certain abilities as the characters tend to do that as well. Kal for Gravity, Shallan for Illumination.
Bond Smith shouldn't be available because only three can be in existence at any time and the spren are so unique. The other Orders have more "openings" available.
@@stevenhedge2850 only one so far. Likely we will see more appear among the Listeners that escaped Eshonai and were found by Venli. I think her mother is supposed to be one, or become one, and has her dementia healed by the bond. That's what was hinted at in the end of RoW. And I hope we see more Fuzed defect away from Odium. May not fully join Dalinar and the remnants of Honor, but Cultivation could take them in. She was the one that accepted Venli's words.
I am curious what the max level will be, and how that will impact taking multiple paths or not. If the max level is high, then it seems much more likely to wind up with characters who are both specialized and diversified, but if it's low, you have much greater opportunity cost for doing so. Hopefully it has a good middleground where there's a choice to be made but also not overly restrictive
In the books that restriction is linked to Vorinism specifically, and even within that tradition, Kal and his dad are both surgeons (a scholar talent tree), and Dalinar was specifically mentioned as an example of Strategist in the video. I'm betting there will be no gender restrictions in the RPG
Only 3 Bondsmiths actually have spren bonds and powers in the world. Anyone else who joins up with the order are non-squire assistants and stuff, so it makes sense bondsmiths would exist as NPCs instead of player characters
“Most of the characters are multifaceted.”
Adolin: I’m hot and I swing sword good.
See, thats already 2! :D
He also dresses up and has an eye for fashion! 3 facets is multifaceted!!
He has also shat himself in his shardplate three times! Backstory!
One of Nine Radiant paths?! You are of Odium and not of Honor. You will not corrupt me!
I thought the same thing, but maybe they are not opening up Bondsmith to the player characters?
@@ellery0909already been confirmed that bondsmith will not be a player path, but the DM will get rules for using them
Good comment, here's a star. ⭐
That was my first thought and then I remembered that there are only 3 full bondsmiths max. Them being NPCs really makes a lot of sense.
Probably get bondsmithing mechanics for players with a Silver Kingdoms/Heraldic Epoch supplementary rulebook.
That Dustbringer talent tree over his shoulder, A+ tease
All the talent names are real if you can manage to read my terrible handwriting with a thick dry-erase marker. Haha.
I mean... I didn't screenshot *everything* with a plan to zoom in and try to read it all...
Lol

Definitely get talent tree vibes from FFG genesys/star wars. Seems to me won't be a traditional levelling system like dnd despite using a d20.
I love the openness.

Can't wait to play the game!!!
First comment! So excited for this! Stormlight rpg is gonna rock.
... One of 9 Radiant Paths? 👀
no Bondsmith probably
Yeah they've mentioned bondsmith don't get a full talent tree but there is a sidebar on how to allow them into the game.

Perceptive! Just wait for next week! All (or maybe some) of your questions will be answered. 😉
I assume some of the talents on the other two branches will have Ideals as prereqs, but perhaps not.
Maybe I missed it, but I can't find an example of gameplay on your channel.

If they look like classes, smell like classes and work like classes, call them classes. No need to rename the wheel.
The Fabrial the lady is holding on the skill tree background looks almost cattleprod like. Kinda scary.
When does this take place in the timeline? Will there be gender restrictions as in the books scholars are typically women.

Surprised that storm warden isn't under the scholar. (Unless I missed it being a specific talent?)
I'm a bit disappointed to see it's a heavy d20 game instead of a PbTA or modern OSR.
Not gonna lie, I'm so tired of PbTA games being a catch-all solution at this point 😅
