Carpetbagger you hit it on the head when you said “the original crocs😂😂😂
Hahahahaha 😂😂👍👍
I giggled 😊
❤I made it from Georgia to California in two days. Two stops. Loved the drive. ❤😊
Really enjoy listening to your perspective of life, never any negative stuff to say, just honest observations
Yes carpetbagger, do the caverns! Your showcases are the best.
I vote we name this adventure the carpetbagger highs and lows national tour
Thank you Mr Carpetbagger! 😊
So much more to do in STL. Great town. Let’s go Blues!
Fun fact, the hole on the metal part of the seat belt can double as a bottle opener
I went to the arch at 10 years old in 1975. Besides the elevator experience and view from the observation deck what stands out in my memory was at the parking lot. One way in to pay for parking and multiple exits with large curved spikes we drove over to exit parking. If you tried to enter through an exit the spikes would flatten all of your tires. I’d never seen this feature before and never have again since.
The staff at the Arch do a great job of moving people in and out of there. Very organized and they make it an enjoyable experience.
Yes, you SHOULD do Merimac Caverns.
Alot of history there, they filmed episodes of Lassie there in the 50s, the Art Linkletter show did an episode there, and Jesse James used it as a hideout!
My son loves your channel! I started using it to help him learn about US Geography.
Lion’s Choice rules! Glad you enjoyed our local fare. Also it was not your imagination, the arch sways and you can feel it! It’s actually for structural integrity they say
Is it called that because lions would like to eat them? 🤔
@@unclemetal8774 ofc!
@@unclemetal8774 split pea soup is great
Made me so hungry!

I have been up in the Arch multiple times. One other factor to consider if you decide to go up is the lack of air conditioning in the pods. Fun fact: The Arch can expand and contract around seven inches depending upon the weather. If you ever visit the Strataca Museum in Hutchinson, Kansas, you will go 637 feet underground, seven feet more than the Arch.
Keep on moving Carpetbagger! Good vibes from VA!
Thanks Carpetbagger for all you do! Best wishes and safe travels .
Jacob Thank you for taking me Up in the Arch because it's the Only Way I'm going ! I really loved the Video and your explanation of the Museum You're really Doing a Great Job and Having So much Fun! ❤ Safe Travels Bless You an All you Do 🙏 ❤ from Tammy
I'm a native to StL and this made me so homesick
Never been to the arch and the hubby has been told I would like it. Thanks for another great video, those views from the top were amazing
Nice!
We've been watching since 2016 your videos have changed and gotten better and better with time. But the first visit to Lacledes Landing is still one of my favorites 🤣
Somewhere on VHS I have a recorded trip up there with a few drunken friends around 1989. To optimize space, they put in 2 boys from the family in line behind us. Filming out the door, the kids dad tells them "Kids? It's been nice knowing ya!" and the boys nervous laughter.
Next time you're through the area look up Bonne Terre Mine. Excellent walking and boat tour of an old mine. And dude.. let us know you're around! We'll take you somewhere you'll love the pork fitter sandwiches!!
Next time you come to St Louis you should try out Lone Elk Park. Its a drive through park with free roaming deer, elk, and buffalo! Its free too.
I love lone elk!
Enjoyed your view of the Gateway arch, I took my kids there when they were younger, there used to be a Mcdonalds on the river below the arch, at the time was the only one on a barge. On your way west to California, stop in Ozark, MO and try and eat at Lamberts Cafe, home of the throwed roll, it is always fun to go to.
Love you Chanel...been watching about a year I'm rewatching the one wen you and Jen are shopping at the secret Disney store lol
I loved this video as I have never been to the arch and did not know you could go to the top. The museum was great too. I can't believe you are driving to California. Safe travels!!
It is incredible how much the Arch has changed since I was last there in 2014. Great job as always. I agree that removing the animontrinics took out the best part of the museum.
Good Afternoon Jacob 🙋🏽. Be safe and stay warm outside.
Jacob, all I could think of was Yogi Bear & Boo-boo taking care of the park. hehe
Going to the arch on our honeymoon in July
My Grandma commuted to St.Louis from the Illinois side when the arch was being built and had photos of it in progress. It's pretty neat to see it go up piece by piece.
Here's something interesting. There was actually a skydiver that landed ontop of the arch in the 90s I think and he slid down the side of it. Not a very smart move but it happened and the guy lived to tell about it.
“Legally distinct building blocks” 😂
I’m putting that on a shirt
Great 👍 video of my old stomping grounds in STL. The Gateway Arch and Museum look beautiful. Much has changed since my last visit inside Saarinen’s arch. I’m so glad you tried Lion’s Choice and Fitz’s Root Beer - both are delicious. (And YES, I’d love to see your take on Meramec Caverns!) Cheers!
I have lived in the st Louis area for 41 years and have been past the arch 10000's of times but I have never been inside nor to the top of the arch.. glad u got to experience it...
I have lived in St. Louis all my life and have only been up in the arch about 2 or 3 times. I love Lion's Choice I prefer it over Arby's. Also Fritz root beer also makes other flavors.
Fitz's orange cream is my favorite. They do make good root beer.
The arch does sway but it was designed to do that. Structurally it's not going to snap but it is still cool. Also, an reason to use a bottle opener is very valid. Those twist caps are hard sometimes. Your showing awesome stuff stuff Jacob!! Have fun!! Also be careful in San Francisco if you go again.
City Museum is so awesome. You should vlog that, there's so many different areas, i'd love to see you crawling through the ladders to the bus hanging over the edge.
Loved your videos, Be careful 🚗 .
Awesome Work Jacob, Thanks 👍👍👍😀 Greetings from Helsinki, Finland 🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸
Jacob,
I went up in the arch, late 80s, with my parents. Thanks for bringing back good memories.
Might I suggest visiting Riverside, Iowa future birthplace of Captain James T. Kirk, of Star Trek TOS. Keep up the great 👍shows and be safe.
Jay
Welcome to St Louis Jacob! Thanks for the love. Think I’ve watched all of your videos ✌🏻
always outstanding videos, can't wait till California
Love and enjoy your videos so much. I love how well you showcase places. And yes! Please explore Meramec Caverns!!! Safe travels!
I was born in 1968. The only time I was on / in it was on a trip to see family in Texas in the early 70s. Like 73 or so. Had no idea how new it was. Dude , arch, you and I are about the same age!
A wonderfully oldschool attraction I hope will still be around for an eventual trip to the US :)
Cool video but I have an intense fear of heights and claustrophobia, so I won’t ever go there! 😂 Thanks for sharing it with us chickens! 😂
Me too!!
Yes go to the caverns. It would be unique and different than what's normally taped. That would be awesome
Thanks Jacob!! Awesome ROOT BEER Memories!!! Look for the tiny pin hole in mirror!! Up, Up, & Away Buddy!!! Safe Journeys!!
I've been there to STL many times, my mom from Columbia Mo here dad was a clinical psychology professor at the university of Missouri for years. That samwitch looked good, thanks for taking us along with you. Take Care and stay safe.🤓📸👍
The Hillbilly Gardens are my FAVORITE video to show people of yours!! I’m from Hickory so it kinda makes sense…
I think the viewers should have a vote on where to send you for your food as well as your destinations. (I’m kidding)
If you’re off to California, you better get rolling!
The mini route 66 was really cute! I am glad that tou stopped there
I love getting lions choice roast beef with cheese and extra seasoning. I add bbq as well.
If you haven’t been already in TN there is a cave tour called the lost sea which I recommend very much. It is the only cave with a full lake with living fish in america
Love that place.
It’s absolutely amazing
A must do on my next mid-west trip is St Louis and Six Flags.
Thanks for the shout out. Wow, we first meet in 2014. Yes it was like 6:30 in the morning. We saw you in the hillbilly-garden when our two youngest children were getting ready to catch the school bus. Sounds like that was an awesome trip for you. Couldn't imagine sleeping in that car.
The elevator in the Arch is enough to give people claustrophobia forever. I was up there once as a kid and I was terrified that elevator was going to break down packed with people.
That's what makes it fun
Great video ! It was nice to see the arch again, I went up in the arch a long time ago very interesting thing to do. It looked like alot has changed since I was there. Keep up the great work love an enjoy your channel. Be safe in your travels.
Merrimac caverns rock took my wife there for our 40th anniversary 7 years old. Wish I could go back 🤠
I don't think in fact, I know I wouldn't have the nerve to get inside one of the pods. Too closed in for me. It reminds me of an old cartoon where all the people get inside a train and come bursting out at the end of the ride. The roast beef looked so yummy, beautifully done. I want one. Once again, your video was great, entertaining and I even learned a little something. Thanks for sharing.
That sandwich from Lion's Choice looked so good!! OMG did I get claustrophobic feelings seeing that "elevator" to the top of the Arch!! LOL!
Dang!! They need to change all their "buffalo" signage to "bison"!!
What's a bison ..something that you wash your hands in
Big yes to going to the caverns! I was going to comment and suggest you check some out. I went to some down in Texas at it was really cool!
Jacob firmly petting buffalo hair while stating, "The kids really like to pet the hair until it wears down"
You're killing me! I'M ON A DIIIIIEET!!!
Your videos are awesome you make great content
I thought you were going to say “I didn’t know I was going to be feeling so much beaver” 😂
I would love to see an hour or 45 minute video every time I think that be cool
safe travels Jacob! 🏎
I like when you're traveling and you find a restaurant that's not very well known to most people..
Very unhealthy
@@bryanyoung4016 it's ok
You need to have a contest and let a fan drive with you !!
Meet and greets are better.
The minute I saw that Fitz root beer, I knew you'd be drinking it. Only been through Saint Louis once, but I did see the Arch, even if I didn't go up in. Actually, believe it's impossible not to see the Arch from anywhere in Saint Louis.
Love your vlogs Jacob.
BTW, have you ever been Mount Rushmore?
Would love to see that.
Drive safe.
Thanks for all you do.
Welcome to our beautiful SHOW ME STATE of Missouri
I knew when you showed us the Root Beer you wasn't leaving with out buying one lol
A claustrophobic nightmare, I would have to be hospitalized after that… 😂😂😂
The Arch was so interesting. Loved the history.
We have the Mississippi River and riverboat cruises here in New Orleans too ❤
Gonna put some serious miles on that rental car
Hi, Jacob! “Fritz’s Root Beer,” is a brand - like “Dad’s,” or “A & W,” is. The Arch is only printed on their label, there, for ‘souvenir’ reasons.
Yes, please visit ‘Meramec Caverns,’ while nearby: AND ‘Lake of the Ozarks recreation area,’ in same ‘neighborhood!’ Think you’ll enjoy
BOTH! 😊
I can only imagine how many audiobooks you've listened to during your drives.
I never knew that you could go up into the arch...nobody is behind the mirror watching you there is just a camera recording you. 🤣
That looks like the Arch would be cool to see.
You good Carpet Bagger! Don’t make me have to come down there!
Repurposed Holiday Inn sign for the Missouri welcome center.
“Look at me! I’m on a train… toot toot! 😂
Jacob - your beaver trap idea clearly shows you've been hanging around a lot of haunts. You're letting the haunt into you. Good...good...soon you will be the one who "scares on stairs"!
Happy Sunday new start of week I got a kick out of you screaming at that event looked so cool seeing all that hope you have great week ahead enjoy it. Prayers and love.
This was another awesome vid bud !! Don't forget to get your whataburger !!!
Jacob, new subscriber I just recently found your videos on your travels across the USA, very cool...Dave/WBA
You need to watch Carpetbaggers video " Abandoned Yardsale " Ha Ha ..That lady at the end of the video was about to go all WWE Jacob
Have a safe trip, Jacob ❤️
When I went to the arch in ‘81, there was a floating McDonalds on the river!
Yes, visit the Miramac Caves. Enjoyed the SL sphere.
You make food look so delicious 🤤 omg that corn beef sandwich looked to die for and that soup looked like heaven
Just to let you know that The Lake George Winter Carnival will have the second series Outhouse Races on Saturday February 18th.
Have been curious about the arch. Will be driving past it on a trip next June. But this will be a Nope for me. Keep up the great videos. I was able to see the top of the arch through you. Thanks!!
HI!! I found you again after loosing you in a sea of subscriptions!!!! Sooooo glad I found you again!!! Love your videos!! But where is that cute Welcome Center with all the Route 66 things??? Have a safe and fun trip!!
Carpet Bagger, you’re in my neck of the woods. I’m surprised I didn’t see you there.
Jacob you weren’t very far from us in IL 👍
