one thing that really helps for high speed boat races is a hydrofoil. i have a hydrofoil myself with 2 off-board engines and a couple mini propellers, and it goes 940 MPH with only 16 powercores (it's gotta lotta gyros)
My best time was 27.6 s (slight glitches) I had a hoverpad, three gyros/stabilisers and then the rest of my powercores where space thrusters and a propeller. In order to stay "in the water" I had some flat connectors reaching in. I'm on Xbox, and I don't have any DLC, so I could probably go faster with some other form of propulsion but I tried with 0 drag and it only took it down to 24.4, because the last turn is hard when its basically an aircraft.
For some reason I didn't actually think of ScrapMan as very good at these races before he started going for top 1% on all of them, I'm so glad to be wrong about that
Amazing vid as always... Seeing you beat glitch build times and also seeing you puting in so much effort even after you get top 1% to actually push your build to its limit is so satisfying to watch. I really appreciate your commitment.
Honestly this is probably the fastest non-glitching build we will ever get in this race. They could protect against the glitches by not allowing parts like the detachable blocks.
When you complete all the tracks, I wanna see what you could do USING glitches. You are probably the best glitch less racer currently, so what could you do using no drag or UFO?
I feel like after placing on the podium on the grand tour you should do it as a proper grand tour - muscle-league style. Build yourself a paddle boat or something and just cruise lazily around the island.
Glitching actually requires skill to implement in your build, use and control. Glitching just makes things easier, in this case, gives more speed, which makes it harder to control the vehicle. I do think it would be nice to have a glitch less category though, since its usually impossible to win against a skilled “glitcher” with a glitch less build
Separate leaderboards makes the most sense. I've glitched and gotten times (not records) on races because there isn't any reliable speed measuring system in the game besides like the drag race. But I don't feel like they should count and I don't feel like EVERY glitched vehicle is with "try hard" intent. There's definitely some like me who are just dabbling like, "What is this UFO glitch and is it really that easy? What does it actually do? Huh. What can I accomplish with this? Is it actually any good?" Again, with no real means to get any kind of measurements besides races, some people just try something out and never try that race again in that league. So having a "Glitched/Experimental League" would probably be best because there's some who try way too hard to get first on a global scale that they have no shame in utilizing everything available regardless of the ethics or legalities of those methods to win. Also as stated before, not every glitched vehicle is with "malicious" intent; hence why experimental would also work. Like the all encompassing, "These aren't legal/usable vehicles according to official rules. You can't drop a wheel at the beginning of a land race and then use a 0 drag flyer to then get first. But you can test them here." And to be honest, seeing glitched racers compete against each other would be interesting and fun to see. Like that's a no-holds-bar race where the best glitch builders bring out their best (or worst depending on your POV) and try to show who's more of a master of bending the rules. I'd like to see that as an official thing separate from the official races.
@@steeljawX I agree with you to some extent, but I do think that glitched and not glitched builds should participate in the same leaderboard (maybe then with an option to filter out glitched or not glitched vehicles?) You said that you sometimes just experiment with glitches, but with no malicious intent. I don’t think that’s a problem, if you get to podium then that means you tried hard using unintended game mechanics that gave you the speed necessary to win, but not the skill necessary to use such speed. I would have been completely against glitching if it allowed to skip checkpoints and head straight to the finish line or something like that, but since that’s not the case, I believe it’s okay. Again, I do think different categories would be nice, because in the end, glitching does give a big advantage and it wouldn’t be fun if suddenly everyone started using glitches at every single race, as that would likely break the leaderboards and deprive them of much importance…unless you also start using glitched builds only, which shouldn’t be the ideal outcome.
Scrap... technically... You are 1st place in all these races because you're the ONLY ONE not glitching. Lol, all the times for glitchers should be wiped 👋🏼
As a game dev- you never want to wipe longstanding scores if your game plans to support glitches being in them (rather than patching them, which I assume is the only reason they haven't patched some of the easier ones, like zero-drag by now). Instead, you'd want to have a "glitch builds" and a "glitchless" leaderboard, and split up the times with automatic detection.
Damn dude, thats wild you made podium, good job! I got an idea about the bouncing issue you have. You need to find the balance between being buoyant enough to stay afloat, but heavy enough that you dont bounce. Right now, youre too buoyant and everytime you enter the water, the bouyancy tries to eject you out of the water. That ejection will always happen, so the key is to minimize how far up the vehicle gets ejected, so you stay in contact with the water longer. This would nost likely make the issue of you nose diving randomly, much worse, but i feel some fine tuning could fix that as well.
Scrapman, it was nosing down when ever u slowed down. I checked the speedometer and when u went over the sound barrier after turning it goes quickly into the 800 - 700s the u nose dive
25:50 If Scrap hadn't missed the finish line he would've gotten a ~18.94 seconds time. Which is around 30 miliseconds better than his best time which landed him 3rd place. Not enough to get him to second place tho
@scrapman the reason it worked that well is because you hydrodynamicas pulled yourself down while countering it aerodynamically. Technically for best results you should use the pieces in the water to push up while everything else pushes down, add another piece forward that is above the water but is aimed to push you up, that will bob you at a perfect spot.
16:50 What I think is going on is related to 16:00. Slowing down either by letting off the throttle or turning after a straight makes you dive into the water. Clever solution by just always turning at already by some small amount.
I noticed in one of the test runs that hes nose slowly goes deeper and deeper into the water when hes on straights (until it becomes a dive) and comes up again when he turns, good to see he also came to a similar conclusion shortly after. Wasn't sure he would notice it since hes attention was probably focused on the course and not starting at the vehicle but it arrived at the same conclusion none the less
scrap you can use logic to press a button for example during that last turn to change the sensativity of the servo, so for normal use its less sensitive, but when you want its more
Rather than evenly balance the boat it would probably be better to put all the engines at the back of the boat, all the floatation at the front of the boat, and have it so that the front just slightly bounces off the water. That way you can have a bunch of up and down motion without it affecting your speed.

Reasonable. Many updates with new parts / mechanics in between. I think they (scrap, kan and yuzei) did one a couple months ago. Hope this vid did well :D
Scrap man PLEASE make your builds wider and shorter!!! I'm pretty sure your builds being so long are the problem, you're not doing a drag strip race, you're doing a turning race, so turning speed and keeping momentum through less sideways drag, this is what matters most, yes your acceleration will be a bit worse, but your overall top speed through most of the track will be faster therefore an overall better time should be made :)
Scraps there is a new game called tcg store or something a store simulator of collecting cards, you should try that, it would be a bit of a change of pace and something new! The game's quite fun too!
I'm seeing an issue with your build and that's that you've got the pitch stabilizing gyros REALLY far forward. As a famous pirate once said, it's all about leverage. Yes, when it forward you're allegedly getting less resulting movement on the front than from the back, but also, it takes less to send your build underwater with all of your aero/hydrodynamics on the front. As soon as they catch a downward angle and there's nothing to correct it, you're going under. If you had them in the middle, it'd give them a more equal effect, meaning they could actually work to correct you going under quicker with more effect. Your speed and hydrodynamics literally are overpowering your pitch stabilizing gyro and weight/buoyancy balancing to where the moment your hydrodynamics catch at speed, it will just shove your build where the hydrodynamics direct it. If you had the fulcrum of the lever that is your boat in the middle, then there'd be speed, buoyancy, and hydrodynamics on both sides to equal it out. It may change how it performs, but ultimately that's what I'm seeing is a big problem with your build. You have stabilizing gyros that aren't doing a good enough job and I believe they're maxed out. If they're not performing at all with both at max, then you need to reposition the gyro so it can give you the most effect it can.
SCRAPMANNNNN EVOLUTION DOGFIGHTERSS PLEASEEEEE. It could be separate evolutionary paths (each player sticks with the same plane they had from the start but changes it each round) so that there's more diversity and like reactionary evolution and stuff Eg if your opponent uses thrust vectoring, next round you could put on an emp instead of an extra smart cannon
How can you add neutral drag on the rear of the vessel? You have too much power for the stability but any directional force won’t tune with the speed difference.
Honestly if they're not gonna do anything to prevent legit people from racing against no-drag glitch, they should just add an option to remove drag from your vehicle with 1 click. Embrace it or remove it, this is just annoyingly unfair right now.
i think i know why this exact front design worked this way. bad turning because you get worse side areodynamics and better performance because the lowest one have more up force than middle one down force. but why? propably interacting with watter made the outcom positivly disproporcional.
I have a question. Do you have any bloodlines or family connections with vocal of Nickelback? Cause outros are so good and every time I look at you you remind me to Nickelback.

Now, use this boat and redo your prior boot races lol
He’s not taking into account that seat controls are a thing, I don’t know but any slight movement down could make it nose dive
Yoo I'm still 5th, and I haven't touched that for a while. I also did that league, and got that time first try. But good job! I'm dartkill btw
Funny addition, I actually added like 5 dragon engines just to get to that league. I was actually using a 10 core boat xD
25:50 if you didn't miss the finish line it looks like thyme would be 0:19:05 glitchless world record
Try doing a race without using a single input. Make it all be automatic
You should do all the 1% videos again.. but the only rule is the vechile must be realistic. No shafts with a central pivot point
I don't think that is posskble
you shld try doing a race with glitching. would be fun
Tomato
Also vids are inspiring
i think i know why this exact front design worked this way. bad turning because you get worse side areodynamics and better performance because the lowest one have more up force than middle one down force. but why? propably interacting with watter made the outcom positivly disproporcional.
U only need to turn left, you could adjust aero for that
maybe do it in rally mode with the restrictions
Scrapman should do a series where he goes back to other top 1% races and uses glitches to try and get rank 1 on every race.
Going so fast the game looks sped up
Do a least power core supersonic video
is nobody talking about the fact that the 9th place leaderboard player's username is "im a furry"?
Hello Scrap Man can you do a James Bond challenge 3 rounds increase power core by 4 thx
I have a question. Do you have any bloodlines or family connections with vocal of Nickelback? Cause outros are so good and every time I look at you you remind me to Nickelback.
Pls tell me thats your bro or dad.
they're not even from the same country
detach blocks should be disabled from race island.
Day 42 of asking Scrapman to play my Grasslands Hide & Seek map (eventually hes gotta do it :D)
SCRAPMAN.... USE DRAG GLITCH FOR ONCE SO WE CAN SEE THE DIFFERENCE IN YOUR VEHICLE!
May mr. editor please let me know what music is being used at the end?
👍
25:50
you would've gotten 19.05 on that run
