One thing I reccomend doing is the bmw under body brace. It’s an OEM part. About £150 for everything and you lot could fit it in about 10 minutes. Not sure if the 3 door 125d’s come with those standard. Looking forward to seeing the progress.

Remember seeing AC Schnitzer do a 150d xDrive with a 3 litre diesel engine concept. Apparently not possible to do rhd version as no space in engine bay. Curious to know if the 125d engine could be dropped into a 120d xDrive body? If so it would be a weapon.
Looking forward to this build and track time. I run square 235 40 17 on my race car and it does help with understeer. I reckon this 125d should be coming to race in the bmw ccr after it's track warm up 👍
Rod bearings can be an issue on them (like what we had happen to our mini) but not sure quite what causes that. Other than that, if the engine management light is on when starting it, it's most likely an EGR issue and if there is a rattle, that will be timing chains. But they aren't as problematic as the N47's

Comming from the PD130 gang, have no experience with BMW's ecept that i want one after i drove a couple :D

Hey DD I watch all your vids but I am particularly interested in the progress with the 125D as that is my weapon of choice but it is completely stock. Interested in what it would cost to turn my daily driver which bats up and down the M62 into a more responsive beast while retaining reliability.

I regularly drive on the Norschleife and want to drive multiple laps in a row. I have a pre facelift f20 125d. Stock map and a bilstein b16 set, ebc yellowstuff brakes and michelin pss 225/40R18. @8.37 btg now.

My ZF box in my 330d is at 90k and I'm pretty sure it's never been serviced (I don't think BMW has it as a serviceable part) - does there become a point where it's not good to change their oil (I'm sure I have heard this on other autos)?
@@stephenmacdonald76 16 plate automatic, had mines from 2018 and no issues, I stuck a decat on and induction kit from the start, car sounded and drove mint, still achieved really good MPG, I’ve just sold mine though for MK2 Cupra R, I’ve got a video on my channel of what the decat sounded like stationary
The calipers are the same, just the rotor size is different but it can be upgraded My question is, if the pad size of course remain the same, with the bigger rotor you will bite only a part of it right? This doesn't create any problems?
@@LorenzoClara97 370mm calipers look the same but in fact are different they have longer bodies where they bolt to the hub so as to achieve the clearance for the 370mm disc/rotor. So if upgrading to a 370mm disc the correct calipers are required, pads are the same in 340 and 370 just a larger circumference.
There are already reports of the diesel B series engines destroying timing components. I wouldn't go near a BMW diesel engine any later than the M47, M57 and M67, etc.
Timing is tricky though. because someone could over rev the engine snap the chain or tensioners and say it just broke on its own. Plus replacing timing chains and stuff even every 25k miles is not exactly the end of the world especially if the rest of the engine is good.
I'm hearing good things about all B series engines, even 3 cylinder ones seem to respond to tuning really well.

You can go for 120d xdrive with 190ps and 400nm torque.. 50nm less than 125d ;)

245/35/18 fit with a 8jx18 et40 all around you may have to roll front arches

I've got a pre lci manual with a stage1 Celtic tune, dyno'd at Celtic running 286bhp and 416 lb ft.

Rear diffs are cheap second hand so that's usually a sign they are reliable!

My mates got his to 296hp on a celtic tune.. stuck with a 69 S3 all the way.. only downside is now it sounds like an old white van!
