@@susan8471 Not necessarily. Older - wiser. Alone - by choice & have come to terms and accepted the loss of family as part of being human. Treasured memories of happy times. I celebrate who I am at this stage of my life.
My son lives out of town, he usually sends me a valentine..I buy myself a valentine cake or some candy, wear red and celebrate it myself. Sometimes I will buy a piece of jewelry that I have been wanting. Whatever , it took me many years of intense therapy to learn to love me, who I am. So I celebrate for me. Sometimes my son is able to come in from the other state where he lives but if not, I just celebrate loving me. God Bless.
As a senior single I used to get very sad on Valentines Day. That is until I had an Aha moment and got realistic about the unrealistic holiday. Firstly, it’s simply another way to get consumers to spend money that many of them can’t afford. Additionally, I realized that all the FB etc posts gushing over their perfect spouse are one more part of the social media intentional creation of a perfect life.
It’s much like those who rent the spaces that appear to be the inside of first class on a plane as a photo op just to post! 😂 I also began to remind myself that many of the gushing posts on social media are far from the truth of the relationship. Ultimately I developed a sense of humor about the lack of realism that surrounds the day. It helped me to “ get real” regarding Valentines Day,
You know ladies, if one isn’t selective anyone can have a boyfriend. Husband, partner etc. Honestly I know I’m attractive, intelligent funny , kind etc. Ultimately, I hope we all remember the above on Valentines Day snd have a good one alone.

Our hair is so similar as I have that curl in my hair also where I have to blow dry it with a brush to stretch it out so it will not have frizzes & will flatten out.

My friend buys herself a bouquet of flowers every week on Friday! She has told me that a fresh bouquet of flowers every week makes her feel happy!!
Dominique, now you are reminding me of my mother!! Everyday she makes her coffee & then takes it over to her reading nook & begins reading her Bible! She does this every single morning! After she reads several chapters to several books of the Bible , she goes to her favorite UA-cam influencers & listens to their inspirational devotion & recipe for the day ! She has several favorites from VA., TN., AL., SC., & FL., & etc….
If I don’t call her, she will be busy into the afternoon!❤❤❤
It’s kinda funny sometimes when I ask her what she’s been doing or why hadn’t she called me & she will tell me that she’s been too busy & I’ll say , “doing what?” & she will reply by saying, “traveling!”😂

Last year my dr had suggested that I might need a therapist(?) I thought….maybe I do(?) After thinking long & hard about it…. I decided that I didn’t need one as they do not know me? They don’t love me? I found that listening to caring & loving ppl like you helped me more! I believe that’s what it takes. A person that genuinely loves other ppl & cares about their well-being , that’s what makes a good therapist!!
I haven’t worn a bit of makeup since my son passed, but if I listen & watch your videos everyday, it makes me want to do things for myself which makes me feel better! So thank you for that! Thank you for helping all of us women w your words, your kindness, & inspirational wisdom… And just your sweet loving concern for wanting all of us to be happy & be the best we can be!!!
As for Valentine’s Day, I used to be sad if I didn’t have a Valentine on that special day, but now at my age, I really don’t care. I have my 2 dogs, that love me very much, a small glass of wine…or not, whatever I feel like doing….❤😂😊. Seeing others happy makes me happy!❤❤❤❤❤❤

You can show care or love by giving someone something….maybe you can give them the gift of your time with FaceTime over the phone or the gift of effort by giving your neighbor a yummy dish or cutting flowers and giving them to your kids or grandchildren. You don’t need to wait for someone else to make your day special ….you can take control and make it special for yourself and others. Happy February everyone!🙂

I’ve lost two husbands, my dog and my father last year and my mother is in hospice. One son in his family and they are very loving and supportive.. but really the way our lives are right now it’s hard to find something positive with all that is going on, and our United States and our communities

For some it’s one hour at a time, one day at a time, one season at a time, one month at a time. Regardless of the time frame, YOU are the most important thing each and every day. It is important to always strive to being your best self. This might mean volunteering at an animal shelter. Giving an hour each day to help your elder neighbor take care of their lawn, and more. When we give of ourselves, it has a way of giving back to us. No one should ever feel defined by what loved one is in your life (or not) on Valentine’s Day. YOU are the most important thing on Valentine’s Day and every day. So put on that make up, bright lipstick, head out to the flower shop, buy a bouquet and treat yourself all day. Dominique, I wanted to thank you for being brave in your journey in life and on UA-cam and in your profession as a journalist. I launched my own UA-cam channel today, and in big part it was due to your encouragement. I had filmed various clips about my life and cooking, but never felt confident enough to upload them to a public portal like UA-cam. You have made me be brave, so thank you. I’m excited about it for myself and I’m excited to see what new adventures you will share with us as well from Dallas and from the new network. As a side note, I absolutely fell in love with Dr. Phil’s appearances on The Oprah Show and I watched Oprah every afternoon as a teen in the 90s. Years later, I read Robin’s book “Inside My Heart” and it changed how I viewed my life forever, her message of all of us being deserving of abundance rings true to this day, I’ve reread her book many times and it is so wonderful to hear that you are now working with Robin and Dr. Phil as a team. What a true blessing for you and a bit of full circle for me - my favorite people that I’ve followed all wrapped up in one project in Dallas, I can’t wait to see your new content! I've always celebrated Valentine's Day as a family day. (since children) We decorate but we focus on love within the family as well as couples. We like to heart attack our kitchen, which is pink and red love hearts cut out of paper and each family member writes something they are grateful for or something that they value or love about someone in our family or community. We start this on the 1st feb so there's alot of hearts on our kitchen cupboards! Love all those ideas you have shared, as someone who has only given to her children, now they are teenagers it's time for me to indulge without the guilt.
