Great video, quick question. Are the flex cables on OLED and older switches the same? I know the rail design is different. My rail is fine but I damaged the flex cable but can buy the older rails with flex cheap and quick so thought if the cable is the same, I can just move the flex cable and connector to the older rail?
pretty sure the flex/ controller connector are the same just the rails screw in differently
This is actually the right side Joycon rail not the left
task will be extremely similar for either side
I have two screws on the back when unscrewing the plate near the motherboard (bottom left and behind that thin wire) that are kinda broken? The Phillips head won't get them out. What can I do?
You misstook the left and right ones but nice video
extremely similar method for either side
I replaced my rails and now I can see my screen, sound works and display when in dock, did I do something wrong?
Can’t*
can you tell me pls what size screwdriver you used
Not sure if universal but i in europe used a phillips screwdriver 000
For the special nintendo screws the triwing or y it was also a 000
the connector that make the nintendo controller connect to the switj
Trying to open the body without taking all the screws out looks very intelligent
Cheers
Hey, I have a question. Is there any reason to plug the rails back in? I've noticed they just work as if you're playing with the Joycons apart if you don't plug them back in. Is there any real reason for it to read that they're on?
So you don't have to worry about your Joycons dying mid play session.
i have the same issue and i’m trying to fix it
i can't find those connector online, there is rail + connector but i dont need those rails
Buy it like that. Then swap the small connector over
Is it okay not to replace the thermal compound when reassembling?
you could probably get away with it on the switch as it feels very tacky
But this is the replacement of the Right side rail not the left side?
extremely similar repair for either side
also where should i get the parts that i need
Amazon, Ebay, and a lot of other electronic stores online. Just google Switch rails replacement
What about the right joycon?
Similar process but haven't recorded it
Omg I didn't see you took the right side off
@rickstechrepairs I think you did the right joycon rail not the left
