EDT Ep.283: YSL Rive Gauche, DUA River Fougere, and more DUA frags

Welcome to my channel! Everyday here in Japan I'm finding fragrance treasures and adding them to my collection. Episode 283: This is a closer look at the famous Rive Gauche by Yves Saint Laurent, and comparing it to the clone River Fougere by The DUA Brand. I also go into depth about the other DUA fragrances I purchased last summer: Fierce, Attitude, D7, 1&Only Jazz Club, Poseidon's Absolu Elixir. Now that they've had time to mature in the bottle, and I've had time to wear them much more since my initial "haul" video.

We got a very well done Rive Gauche dupe here in Brazil, from a national brand called GV Designers, awesome dupe.

I have a few Duas. Pretty good. Some on their original creations are nice. I just bought Plum Brandy and it’s a stunner. I was lucky to get a good deal on a Rive Gauche in a can and I thought it was empty bc it was so light. I put it behind a LED and it was basically full. Too bad it was discontinued.

Have you ever tried the other rive gauche light or intense and how it compares to the regular version?

Dua can be extremely hit or miss. I 100% agree with you about river fougere, i literally cant afford to buy a bottle of rive gauche, but ive had official samples and the dua is practically identical. I havent smelled D7 but the real M7 was never any kind of natural impressive oud (i have a bottle) it was just a breakout initial western oud fragrance.

Some say that Cuba Black is similar to Rive Gauche. Do you know if thats true?
(Or is it just closer to Azzaro PH only?)

I think your use of the word “underwhelming” for Dua is very apt. Some folks swear by their scents, but I’ve found the quality to be wildly inconsistent, generally unremarkable and routinely “hit or miss.” Hard pass for me.
