- Here I teach Octave, which is a language commonly used when teaching Machine Learning and it is also basically a Free Version of Matlab! I'll cover basically a 400 page book in one video.
This video was originally a Livestream so many people ask questions during its filming. I live code every Wednesday at 5PM UTC / Noon EST here / derekbanas
Next Wednesday I'll teach Algebra 1 & 2 in One Video on Twitch!
All of the Files used are here : github.com/derekbanas/OctaveT...

Derek did it again! We have another great code marathon. Love it!
I'm happy you enjoyed it :) I much prefer doing these as livestreams even though I ultimately lose my voice
Cant wait to complete this, thanks Derek!
I hope it helps :) It was fun to make especially as a livestream. It makes my life less lonely.
huge amount of topics covered in this tutorial. thanks Derek
Yes it got a little out of hand. Next time I'll try and cover Algebra 1 & 2 in one video. It will probably take 3 or 4 hours
Hi Derek. Did you have a video for learning English as a native or something like that?. Thanks.
Thank you so much Derek
I’m very happy to help :)
This man cannot be stopped
I try to do my best :)
Love your computer room/den Derek !
i was a guy who asked for machine learning,
well more deep learning.
Thank you :) Well you are going to get it. For the first few weeks I'll cover all the math needed and then you'll find it very easy because ML is basically math
Wow, what a great tutorial. and it is coinciding with me watching the famous Andrew Ng ML course on coursera!
Although I restrained myself from watching the last part xD
I am watching that too. I understand the theory and do quite well in the quizzes but I just stopped understanding the coding part after the first few weeks.
THANKS man! Mind doing more of NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming)? I started being a huge fan of it since I read your blogposts.
Thank you :) I'll talk about my experiences with NLP in my chess livestream next Tuesday on Twitch
You meant Natural Language Processing by chance, not the pseudo-scientific psychological crap preached by motivational coaches? And of course you didn't mean Nonlinear Programming, a branch of mathematical optimization?
Hey Derek, I would really appreciate a video on a program that scans the market for basic chart patterns. As a day trader it would really simplify my life, thank you!
I have also been trying to learn on how to do it my self. Just a regular freshman CS student, so this is all super new to me :)
Thanks
aw i missed it , i only learn a language through you, thanks derek
Thank you very much :) I'll always post the videos on UA-cam of course.
Hey Derek!
Your videos are a service to humanity.
Just a question. What is your opnion on cryptocurrencies?
Any plans to do videos on blockchain dev?
Yes
nice stuff. Octave is a great tool.
Work with signal processing is very easy in octave. I prefere it over julia or python.
Thanks so much
I’m happy I could help :)
Mr Derek is there any way I can contact you privately?
You can send me a personal message on Discord. I have a link to it in the description for the video
Are those flickerings hidden frames that make us want to learn to play the banjo?
Ukulele :)
If we remove that ², then we'll get to know whether we overshot or undershot, right? Why should it be positive?
Because we're summing the total error. If we sum with negative errors, it decreases the overall error.
@@adammontgomery7980 Yeah, but what if we had different sums for negative values and positive values? That way we can know whether our model is overshooting or undershooting. Bet that would be at least somewhat helpful.
so for sleeping 3hours, 30min naps, what alarm do you use to get up.
I am a deep sleeper and cant hear anything.
Now I sleep 3 or 4 hours all at one time and don't use an alarm. Over the years I slowly eliminated the naps. When I did that originally 25 years ago I had a watch that vibrated and played an alarm. You probably can't buy it today. I think it was a Timex? Apple Watch vibrates. Any watch that vibrates should work
@@derekbanas I think I need more than vibration, I need a taser on my wrist to wake me up 😅
Mr Derek if you read this please recommend book on machine learning, thank you
I think you’d do much better to take one of the online courses on Coursera for example. They are free and you only pay for a certificate on completion if that is important to you. I wouldn’t buy it
Thanks to
Good
Dude how many technologies you actually know .... 😌 . Just saw your chanel
The goal of my channel is to make videos on just about all areas of knowledge. Next week I'm covering Algebra 1 & 2 in one video. I have videos on everything from programming to cooking, crochet, making video games, etc.
Great video but I am looking forward to more finance videos that will make me a billionaire.
The last video I made basically covers everything
Octave > Python
I do find the syntax more intuitive in Octave
Yes
Good
