Perfection superb bridge control just came off tug with similar set.up German engnering the best always has been dutze one of the greatest engines ever
I believe the engine runs backwards in astern, there is no gear box. That is why it shuts down when changing direction and the start air is supplied via the generators.
Hi love your channel even if there are no subtitles I have a westlander Dutch barge that has a small air cooled deutz I would love to get hold of a manual if you know of any one who could help
An interesting story. I had a 78 foot tug with a DMG straight 8 Enterprise. It had a 12 inch bore and 15 inch stroke. 500 HP at 400 RPM. Then I got a twin screw 100 foot tug with the same engines except they had aluminum pistons bigger injectors and were turbo charged. They were 1350 HP each.
The camshaft has two interleaved sets of cams, one for each direction of rotation. The engine is stopped, the camshaft pneumatically shifted to the other position and the engine air-started again. So it has different firing order when running backwards.
Great video even better now I no what they are saying as I don’t speak Dutch, but love to hear it spoken, always said when I worked coasters a bit like Arabic sounding (no offence) .
no you have medium-speed diesel, slow is 2 cycle crosshead 102 rpm as in Emma Maersk, slow medium 100 to 400, medium 400 to 900 , fast 1000 to 1800, high speed 1800 to 2800, very fast BOOOM~~~!!!
Engine room lullaby indeed and the control unit, so impressed it works with the precision of a German watch.
Prachtige motor, sympathieke schipper, goed interview, heerlijke muziek! Genieten geblazen! 👍👍👍👍
Mooi onderhouden schip. Proficiat aan de schipper.
I just found your channel and wanted to tell you I enjoy it very much.

love those twin rudders
Vielen Dank für die Untertitel. 👍🏻
4:00 i love that throttle :D but more fun when there are non integrated levers one for engine shift neutral-front-back and one for engine RPM only :D

so cool
You should do one on a DMG 8 Enterprise. Johnny B Good would feel right at home picking to the rhythm of an Enterprise.

I do believe there is also a hot tub up there beside the car

I really want to know why there's a car on the roof. And how it got there?
For the skipper & family or crew to get around when moored. The car gets there using the crane on the back of the ship.
how did you get the car up on the upper deck? Is she still a working bulk carrier?
With the crane.
what a life
How does the engine change rotation from ahead to astern? Given its direct shaft drive!
The camshaft has two interleaved sets of cams, one for each direction of rotation. The engine is stopped, the camshaft pneumatically shifted to the other position and the engine air-started again. So it has different firing order when running backwards.
Interesting place to park a car.

I think it's more Scandinavian like Danish ;)
Really? Dutch sounds like English mixed with German. It’s an intermediary
