Bobby Whitlock is a master of a musician and singer.
Everytime he starts singin and playin he plays 1000% with his heart and skills.
Just listen tue Derek and the Dominos live in New York,or one of his soloalbums.However.

Amen Bobby ~ I try constantly to explain to folks that the key to freedom and happiness is to 'forgive everybody for everything' ! When no one owes you anything and you're resentment free, you will know a freedom that is unapparelled.

The amount of people you know, the friendships you have amassed, the songs that have your DNA in them -man this is GREAT STUFF!! Your honesty is impeachable. You said it was "alot of fun livin in a small town"...I think it's safe to say there's a LOT of FUN where ever you go, Bobby. It's seems contagious, and infectious too. We benefit ☺️ both from the music+these stories. Thanks again✨️

Just listened to Layla 20th anniversary cd for the umpteenth time. Listened all the way through. My opinion, finest rock album ever. Clapton rarely played so fine and sounded like he had a reason to sing, and you and the rhythm section are on fire. Masterpiece! Thank you for your stories and your musicianship.

I really admire Bobby's attitude of "this moment is the most important moment in my life" and how "we're not meant to carry a lot of baggage around." I've been a member of some 12 step programs for a number of years and still struggle with those concepts that are so clear to him just do to his own positive outlook and life experience.

The folks I know that knew you back when we're from Ridgley TN. They were boys younger a bit than you and you kinda coached them at baseball. You came with them to my apartment in Memphis...and I met you then. They had spoken of you many times as LAYLA was always on the turntable. And sometimes Joe Cocker ...With a lil help album. Never expected to meet you but I and the wife did. After an hour or two y'all left. I had heard you w the COUNTS before . This was on your return from England when we met you I believe Bobby. Layla is still on my turntable now thou I have had two wives in those years since.
Greetings and BEST WISHES TO YOU AND COCO. LOVE y'alls channel too !!!!!!!

Bobby made that band imo. Sure, EC was in the spotlight but Bobby's vocals and keyboards killed it! I watch that JC segment on you tube and Bobby was the backbone! I actually met Carl Perkins in the 80's, really nice and down to earth man, can understand why EC was intimidated playing with him though! Lookout for those bears!

That's a happy memory for me, of the fried pies. My Grandma would make up the crescent shaped pies, apple made with crab apples and peach with our good Sandhill peaches. She would wrap them in wax paper, put the pies in the deep freezer, and put them in my lunch bag for me. I would let them defrost until lunch time, then microwave and eat one of the best things I've ever had! It brought a smile to my face today. Thank you Bobby and Coco. God bless you both, and thank you for these sessions. :)

Great Show. EricClapton always had a great respect before his Idols.
Between Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins he was the man in the middle. He played wonderfuly.
EC is a musician that always played with his hard and soul and skills. He also got a great knowledge about American Musical History.
Robert Johnson Elmore James BB King James Brown Curtis Mayfield Buddy Guy Jimi Hendrix(Soulbrothers) Aretha Franklin Howlin Wowlin Muddy Waters Chuck Berry Bo Diddley and so..( Freddie King Albert King)With Derek and the Dominos a musical Dream came true. What great band and exellent musician,Bobby,Carl and Jim are the Alpha and Omega.Anyway I believe that the geatest musician come from the USA,which inspired the UK so much and also the rest of the world. But then again it is no wonder...England had a child and the named it America🗽

You’re absolutely right: that negative baggage is too heavy to carry around. If someone does you wrong you can plot their destruction or forgive / put them out of your life. The first traps you, keeps you looking over your shoulder, and weighs you down. The second is freedom. Believe it or not, I watch these videos as much for the clean, simple philosophy as the music and stories. There’s a lot of applicable wisdom between y’all.

Hi Bobby, you are so right about true friends and counting them on one hand... They're the best friends to have!
I've watched you, Jim, Carl and Eric on the Johnny Cash show so many times! Absolute greatness!
I always thought Eric was nervous, which in a way show's he's only human!
Not sure if you've ever seen it, but there's a Carl Perkins and Friends concert, from about 1985/86 ish.... George and Ringo are there, and Eric too... He played Matchbox and Evil Woman Blues (I think that's the name?!) Anyhow, he certainly made up for being nervous before with Carl and Johnny... He plays some outstanding guitar and Carl seems pretty happy with him! It's a great show, and it's on UA-cam...
Keep the chat's coming and you both keep safe and well.
All the best to you both. 👍😘😘

Y'all are a wonderful story of life and love! I have a kinda silly question about living in England. First, I've recently seen articles about George Harrison's mansion and Eric Clapton's place. Coming from humble beginnings I can only imagine how you felt when suddenly your hanging out with Rock and Roll royalty and living in these castles. Had to have been a fairy tale kind of experience. The question is how difficult was it to adjust to driving on the wrong side of the road? And do you have any Van Morrison stories?

After watching the Cash show again. I really should have noted Bobby's vocal as a co lead, not a backing vocal. And, I never thought of Clapton as being nervous, I mean he was to me at that time the ultimate guitar player but I guess being up there with people you greatly admire could be intimidating.

    • @iconoclastKM
      @iconoclastKM 3 роки тому

I never saw that 'nervousness' as EC being intimidated. All of the times that I've watched that terrific JC Show, I've been extremely taken by Eric's sense of gratitude and humility..! That impressed me enormously..!
And the performance on the Show put such an exclamation point on the tightness of that band... and the true richness in the vocal harmony between Bobby and Eric singing together... and I've always noted that quality, that richness on every single track on that Layla album..!
Someday, perhaps on one of those Crossroads Festivals, I wonder if we might see a revisit of that covering of 'Easy Now' with Eric Clapton, Dave Mason and Bobby Whitlock..!

How much did BW play on Buddy Guy's Sweet Tea album, and was everyone in the studio at the same time? Thanks for the inspiration in your chats!

Johnny’s dad claimed he didn’t sing for the lord the same way , but ,( “Derek” handled it well I think ) ,But you’ve gotta admit ,and you can’t tell me Bobby that it wouldn’tve been an honor to do one or two with brother Oris Mays , heck Eddie Bond even did a “real” one from time to time , ha remember him? Also coco I saw you guys on George Klein the other day and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I've noticed on both Johnny Cash & Jools Holland Eric looks a bit pissed that Bobby's stealing his thunder with his amazing voice. On Jools Holland after Bell Bottom Blues Eric puts his hand on his forehead & looks towards Bobby sorta half pye acknowledging him.

Did you ever meet or know Stan Perkins? I seen a recent vid of him talking about his time knowing George Harrison and how he gave him one of his Dad's guitars a couple years before he passed.

I finally got the deluxe set of Layla a month or 2 ago, and just listened to it in the truck the other day. I was surprised to hear the Johnny Cash show out takes. Especially with Carl Perkins. And yes he was on fire. And you can certainly hear Bobby. One thing that bothers me about those 2 cds is there is no artist or song info to show on the cd player. Is that a bootleg set or real?
