SCRANTON, PA Exploring a Hidden Cenote Gem NAY AUG PARK with an Abandoned Railroad Tunnel

- Nay Aug Park is a hidden gem and a treasure in Scranton Pennsylvania. The park was acquired through purchase of land through an estate and has gone through several upgrades and renovations. It was a center of gatherings for the people of Scranton and soon developed into a small Amusement Park, Luna Park, a Zoo as well as 2 Olympic size community pools that have recently been demolished. There has been funding acquired and plans for renovation but nothing is currently in the works.
The park offers a main trail plus several off-path hidden walks where you can discover views of the gorge and other hidden gems. You can find a treehouse, a pedestrian bridge as well as hidden access to an abandoned railroad tunnel.
The Gorge is a precious bedrock area that certainly resembles a Mexican cenote!
We highly encourage and recommend a visit to Nay Aug park at any time of the year as it is also beautiful in the winter & fall!

I'm not sure if it was mentioned, but Nay Aug Park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the guy that also designed New York City's Central Park.
That is wild! I don’t think I mentioned that but it doesn’t surprise me. The park is a masterpiece! Thank you for letting us know!
