Great job and after being in plant maintenance for over 25 yrs the only thing I would have done different is to make sure that no one got in that trailer while you're under there..... the lady didn't have a clue to the danger it was putting you in! Those metal brackets must have been made with the finest imported Chinesium out there. 😄

Exactly, they’re like $10 lol . Coulda saved those people a lotta money in wasted time building shit just to end up having it crooked as fuck and bowing out of square lol
Yeah, I was thinking alignment pin, however, an inch and an eighth spud wrench would be great as that also fits your cutting tip. Or just any other size that makes since. 😊
Nice job. I think you're right about the spring twisting. I think they hit something and when it pulled the axle out of alignment it bent the spring at the other end, nothing you could really do about it other than what you did. RV's are such piles of crap. I did a ton of these repairs in when I was younger with an old Lincoln Weldenpower. I bet I've repaired leaf spring hangers on trailers at every gas station and roadside rest stop within a couple hundred miles of home.
And that Rockstar is why America keeps moving forward! Fuckin' awesome work on the holiday, I can only imagine the relief they felt when they knew someone was coming to save their holiday! Can't say enough about how classy you are! Well done Rockstar!💪💪
Job well done. I appreciate you using a high tensile strength welding rod thinking about those people’s safety. Although all they can think about is how much you are gonna charge them. Ain’t the welding world grand? lol
@@MeltinMetalAnthonyBy the balls 😂😂😂 I don't know what that camping setup would cost. But in Australia a setup like that is 100k+. So I'm sure he's got the money to spend lol.
The springs appear "tweaked" because you're working with a cambered axle. The camber makes the spring perch sit at an angle, with the spring tilting towards the outside of the trailer frame. It's the way they're made. Like the restrike characteristics on the rods your using. Nice.
Sharp turns with 2+ axle trailers put a side load on those hangers and with how tall they are, that's a lot of leverage where they're welded on. Lippert started putting braces on some of their hangers using a piece of angle iron going between the two pieces with the pointy end facing down. Lippert drawing 103727 has some dimensions.
looked like t5hat to me as well googled that lippert number and a bunch of stuff came up on those hangars taking a beating kinda shitty engineering i guess
That's a great question. This kinda rhymes with a lot of the good welders I know will not repair rims and stuff because of the liability. Dunno how any of that works legally.
I think these campers are made of tin foil and cardboard these days. It's a wonder you didn't have to straighten the frame rail as well. Thanks for taking us along✌️
I hope you asked that lady why the fuck she went in the trailer when you were under there. She looked right at you and probably thought about not going in and still did 😂
Awesome, as usual. I really don't want to be "that guy", but at 16:09, is that a bit of underfill? It should still hold fine, but what do you do in these situations, through in another pass? Thank you for all your videos, I learned a lot from you
Hey Anthony - just wondering why you didn't do all the bends and then drill both holes at once from the 2nd side? Would this not work for some reason (e..g, too much chatter, bit's too short)? Always nice to see what you're workin on! thanks sharing
Kinda looked like the spring bushing had exited chat, hard to tell, that may be part of the problem. Massed produced trailers are such poor quality to start with. Also surprised some Karen didn't didn't flip out over you welding at a fuel station lol.
I noticed when you were installing the leaf spring eye end it seemed to be hung up a little bit between your new hanger. Is that a concern that the leaf spring eye end is too tight? Should it have movement? It seemed too tight , I am not knowledgeable with leaf spring installation specs, but I hope that the spring has enough movement for proper wear. Awesome video, tough job working on the road. Thanks for any info. Jim
I doubt he hit somthing, Lippert makes all of these frames and there absolute junk from the factory. I have a welding business that does mostly boiler/pipe work but we have a contract with a big local RV dealership. I send one of our rigs weekly to that dealership for frame repairs. Alot of the time its king pin super structure repairs. If people were able to see whats holding their king pin together underneath their bedroom they wouldnt even touch these fifth wheels! paper thin material, HORRIBLE fitup, and like zero welding, and the welding that is done... is down hand with lack of fusion and porosity. Lippert is putting my kids through college.... i hope they dont adjust their QC at all lol. Nice quick repair though!
Have seen lawn mower trailers sturdier than that camper. Great problem solving, technique and repair...not sure about your safety attitude. You're young. Don't gamble your career or life on easy safety precautions. It is what it is until it's not what you thought. Car axle stands are cheap as are a couple of bricks back and front of tyres
There aren't that many of those RV springs hangers. Why not just put some replacement hangers on your truck. Hanges should not be welded on with the spring in it. The heat will melt the spring bushing. Always disconnect the batters before doing any welding on an RV. Electronics can be damaged.
You know what pisses me off? That people have the audacity to walk inside of something that you're working on that's jacked up in the air. That s*** pissed me off big time 11:55
