    Being a female INTJ is one of the loneliest! I do not have many people that I may speak to about the ideas I have, Therefore I am starting an INTJ group.Hopefully Any other INTJ's out there can connect and share ideas and theologies.

      Jasmine Arthouse7 Hi. I am an INTJ and I thought I was just shy. Shyness doesn't always apply to me. How can I connect with you. I would love to see your UA-cam Videos. Yes we are a lonely lot as INTJ women and I am seen as selfish, difficult, reserved, quiet and unpopular. However, I am self confident and love myself after asking why anyways. Peace!

      Jasmine Arthouse7 That's not just being a female, try talking to your average Joe about anything other than sports and it will quickly turn into a one sided conversation, at least in my experience.

    One of the toughest lessons to learn as an INTJ is the necessity of adhering to the chain of command in an organisation. One day, you might find yourself at the top of that chain, but for now, it's probably best to keep your head down, do what needs to be done and not be too much of a maverick.

      I have a few people who I like but they also have a warped sense of humor, are also moderately intelligent and like sarcasm. I try to be very nice, treat people with respect but when people don't reciprocate or are just rude it tries my patience. I want to unleash my sarcasm but it usually just makes the situation worse, so I hold my tongue and roll my eyes so hard that I have given myself a concussion. There are many days that I just don't want to deal with people because people just don't think any more.

    I had a great best friend and roommate for two years. He was an INTJ, I am an INFJ. Both of our introverted intuitions caused us to become great friends because I could follow his train of thought, and he mine. He was never one to let me in, but as we got deeper, he would show some signs of, what others would call, sincerity. For instance, I remember when his grandfather died, I was very much asking him if he needed anything, especially when I saw him in sad states. When something similar came up in my life, he didn't offer any condolences. As time went on, he got more comfortable asking me "Is there anything I can do?" but sadly the friendship ended soon after we graduated college. Sad times. This video is great in detailing what an INTJ is. Sounds a lot like my former best friend.

    • @Salafrance
      @Salafrance 10 років тому +23

      He didn't offer any condolences because he couldn't do anything practical to fix the underlying cause of your life crisis, and anything less would be meaningless. He would empathise, but see condolences more as a way of supporting the offerer's image rather than as support for the one experiencing the crisis.
      That's my guess, as an INTJ.

    • @Salafrance
      @Salafrance 10 років тому +4

      FYI, I would have expressed my condolences, but that's because I've been working on these things you humans call 'social skills', as they're clearly a prerequisite for functioning within society.
      It's funny, because it's true...
      ^^

    • @Bacontats
      @Bacontats 10 років тому +2

      Thank you for your insight. It does help a lot. I think much on his side, he started offering anything he was able to despite him not being able to do anything, if that makes any sense? For instance, he started offering to chat, etc, even though him chatting would not fix the problem. I know INTJ's are very good at knowing what they can and cannot do, and will let you know if they are unable to perform a certain task. But at least he tried. He still wouldn't let me in, but sometimes he would let himself open to see how I would react, and I would affirm him being vulnerable with me and tell him I appreciated his bravery. In the end though, I had to end the friendship. Don't regret having him as a friend though.

    • @Bacontats
      @Bacontats 10 років тому

      Salafrance When you say "a way of supporting the offerer's image rather than as support for the one experiencing the crisis", are you saying he offered condolences for his own sake rather than for me?

    I tested as a very strong INTJ but, I chit chat a lot. I’m not disagreeing with you. Here’s why:
    Boredom. When I’m at work, I’m working on someone else’s dream or plan. Other than the job supporting what I want to personally accomplish through paying me, I don’t care. Particularly the way a lot of offices are run, 40 hours+/week is just a huge waste of time, except for the fact that they’re paying me. It’s often as if they’re paying people to atrophy, mentality and physically. So, I’ll shoot the shit all the time, find any topic or pull out any joke and it has absolutely NOTHING to do with wanting to be with people or getting energy from being with people as, I don’t. It has to do with being stuck there and, like on other jobs I’ve had, when it’s time to go, I don’t spend a ton of time with goodbyes and farewell lunches. I have a lot of time to make up for so, it’s time to bolt. One guy called me a high functioning introvert and he’s correct. I like people in small bits and pieces. If I had more control over my life, o probably wouldn’t see people more than 3-4 times per year. So a 5 day workweek for me is pure insanity. My guess is that I would NEVER be recognized as an INTJ, particularly as I’m a black woman. But, yep, I am and I the only part about it that I feel bad about is that it always makes me feel as if my time is being wasted with others, when I’m more productive alone.

      Agreed. I've never had any issues with interviews. It's just getting to the interview stage that's sometimes difficult. Making my resume is an utterly miserable experience. And I hate that resume styles have changed over time, so that I have to completely rewrite the same information that I hated writing the first time around.

    Maybe because we always live inside our mind and have our own privacy. I certainly will answer "Yes, pretty good" everytime when someone asks "How's your work going". Maybe we are pretty tired and wanted to be alone and don't like this small talks that goes nowhere. I go to work because I want to chase my ambition, but I don't often talk about my work, nor ambition because I am always afraid of people judging our work, I hate when people wants to correct my life, I am doing fine on my own anyway

    Great comment! I was working with a dominant ST organization recently and they had the hardest time understanding that N's need to know the "why", not because they obstinate (or at least not in the current situation), but they want to know how it impacts the whole. N's like alignment of personal and organizational goals.

    • @jenniferhanses7064
      @jenniferhanses7064 2 роки тому

      Yeah. Why is really important.
      Sometimes things that seem like a stupid waste of time have a perfectly good reason for existing. But if you don't understand it, you're likely to 1) forget to do it, 2) do it wrong, 3) be unhappy with your job making you do a stupid thing. But if you understand it, not only are you likely to remember, do it well, and be happy, but you may come up with a better way to reach the goal of the seemingly stupid process, saving time and making everyone else happier.

  • @octemberfury

    This only applies if we like the job. I don't like my current job, so I do the absolute bare minimum and focus on better things like how, in the future, to make better use of my time (ie. thinking of a better way of making a living for myself/ envisioning a system where people get to contribute to society in a way they find rewarding).

    since communication is supposed to be shared, we INTJs have an adaption we need to consider and that involves the dreaded small talk , try to find out one thing about each person that you have to interact with and use it to HUMANIZE the individual rather than assigning them to the vast unknown collective of sheeple, this will make them feel understood and keep you from appearing overly dour, this equation helps workplace interactions transact more smoothly (though not perfectly) and sometimes just getting the job done works so much easier when the surroundings have sense of belonging

  • @jenniferhanses7064

    Definitely agree about "why" questions.
    If you tell me to do so because "I said so" or "It's company policy" (which is just another version of "I said so"), I'm going to be very unhappy, and inclined to not do the thing or otherwise lazy about it, because it's apparently unimportant, and I could save time if I didn't have to do it.
    If you tell me something like "Always put warning comments in the upper right-hand side of the paperwork because sometimes our workers don't have much time to read all of the paperwork before they're handed a dangerous item, and by putting the label always in the same place, they always know where to look and can quickly glance at it and know if there's any warning attached immediately as they receive the package" then I understand that this is an important part of the job that will help the rest of the team. (I used an example of something I had no problem with and divined the purpose of on my own from company policy, while my ESFJ boss was letting people put warnings where ever they felt like it -- on the bottom of the page, on the back of the fricking document where no one in a hurry is looking. It was a major bone of contention. I tried explaining to her why it was important to get everyone trained to follow the very sensible company policy, and she just did not seem to get it, insisting that it was up to us to read all the paperwork, something employees could not always do immediately, as sometimes we got passed a dangerous item and paperwork at the same time, and needed to isolate the item first before we could really get into reading the paperwork. Verbally passing on vital information should also have been SOP for employee safety, but, again, ESFJ insisted employees should be able to stand there juggling dangerous item and paper while reading in the middle of an active hallway. Let me add that "package" is a metaphor, and the packages were actually alive and not inclined to be still).
    If the INTJ understands the reason for the rules, and agrees with them (because I don't like myself or my coworkers being hurt), they can actually be a champion for the rules. But if you don't give them the background information when there's good reasoning, they can be the worst rebel.

    Hi Andrew! First and foremost thank you for your service to our country! The military is very much an STJ organization. STJ individuals/organizations are big on procedures and resistant to change. You could inquire about the best way to gain influence, but typically the response has something to do with following through with one's responsibilities. Influence and respect with STJ's is a long run game.

  • @lifeiq

    Good question...one "a-ha" I hear from INTJs is when they recognize how differently they see the world from others. Only 3.6% (latest data) of the population in the U.S. are INTJs. So, INTJs need to understand that their sarcastic humor is not shared by others. Other types don't enjoy debating and/or critiquing. Tempering those characteristics and inquiring about feelings and emotions is a start to increasing better communication with others.

    im an ENFP, i was dating an INTJ, but he always works, and doesnt want to talk much. We have dated 4 times in the course of 1.5 months. but I was thinking it's good for a relation if we can communicate more, or at least let each other know the feelings, expectations. But he never says much about his plan. And ocasionally he would want to meet , but that's like every 2 weeks or longer. Everyday if I try to txt him, he is not really happy. I once told him if we are still in the process of developing something at least let me know if my time spent is worth it. If he has to work late at least he can let me know before the usual end of work hour. But he never does that. ... I don't know if I'm really that much of a trouble, or he is simply not interested, (he didn't delete me or block me, although he expressed he was not happy when I tried to talk to him by the end of the day if he didnt say anything) The thing is the previous day he would be talking, and throw some fragmented message when it was very late, like 'Im hungry'. (nothing to do with wealth). But when I replied in the middle of the night, he didn't reply by the end of the next day...

    Yes, it is! It was nice to know that there are more people like me, who ask: WHY? Why is this meaningful? Why is this useful? Why are we doing *this* and not *that*?
    Once you are aware of your natural tendencies, you can work with them, and improve your deficiencies. I've made a real, concerted effort to be more warm, open, and willing to show my feelings - but it's hard. It doesn't come naturally - so I have to work at it...with that INTJ perfectionism! lol!

    People need to be as educated as this man. Almost every time people treat the INTJ in the wrong manner. Immensely annoying.

    Everyone Introverts and Extroverts, what makes you one or the other is your 1st function. The 2nd is always opposite the 1st, referring to I and E
    Introverted Thinking (Ti) - Thinks internally, non-confrontational, inductive logic, organizing ideas, detached.
    Extroverted Thinking (Te) - Thinks out loud, pragmatic, confrontational, needs objective proof, deductive logic.
    DaveSuperPowers talks about this on his videos. If it's something that interests you, definitely watch eveything he's got.

    Check the functions, cause that's what it's all about. An INTJ's first function is Introverted Intuition, which makes them an Introvert. Second function is Extroverted Thinking. Third, Introverted Feeling. Fourth, Extroverted Sensing. Do your own research, but this is true MBTI. UA-cam (DaveSuperPowers), he's quite keen on this subject.

    Do not be pushy with your ideas of beliefs with an INTJ... that's not going to go over well.
    As an INTJ when I am being pushed into doing something I haven't had time to think about it feels like a personal attack and I can verbally go for the person's jugular.
    Respect the INTJ enough to give them time to think things through probably and allow them to be in control of their own things... they will really appreciate you for it.

    Hi Roenie1! Great question! Not sure if you're talking career vs. legacy (or both) but narrowing the scope small enough to see that your efforts are making an immediate impact is one way around feeling stuck/apathy. Keep in mind that INTJs have high standards for organizations and leadership and that can be a large source of frustration. You may want to pursue a passion on an entrepreneurial or small organization level. Feel free to email to keep this convo going. Thanks!

    This is why I hate group projects with a passion. I'm there to work and get it done but people waste a lot of time chatting and "getting to know each other". Why? Just come up with some plan and let's get it done! It's not like we will become friends and hang out after this!!
    Also, people who overshare at the work place.... Like, I'm sorry Sharon you have anxiety and your son pees his bed but I've only been here one week and I'm not here for your talking.

    The worst is when someone wants to start a full on this could go on for hours talk when your on your way out a door. Ive hanging half way out a door and the person still wouldnt shut up but yet spent the 2 hours befor hand not sayin shit like they was waitin. My wife has a thing for doing this witch turns a 2 min trip to the store into a 3 + hour nature walk through the woods because i still cant figure out why someone would do that shit. WTF is the pourpus of this. It gets under my skin so bad that just typing it is pissing me off. So on to the next video

  • @j0hnc00

    Davesuperpowers is wrong when he describes INTJs that way, Ti doesn't mean internal thinking and Te doesn't mean out loud thing thinking, read an extract from Jung himself and you'll know.
    Actually Ti (& introverted function in general) means that the thinking is "subjective" and excluded from objective reality.In doing so Ti gains order and direction. Whilst Te (and E funcs in general) instead means that the thinking seeks answers in objective reality but on the downside it lacks direction.

    That's why I get confused with INTP. Go and look to the same person who talked about INTP communication style and you'll find there are quite a lot of similarities in between. If anyone found any distinctions please let me know.

    • @brands2131
      @brands2131 10 років тому

      Look into the cognitive functions of INTPs and INTJs, you'll notice ALL the cognitive functions are the complete opposite. INTP has Ti->Ne->Si->Fe where INTJ has Ni->Te->Fi->Se, notice none of the 4 functions match. Kind of a shock because INTPs and INTJs share 3 of the same letters but there functions are completely reversed. Also don't look too much into the letters, the real personality is in these functions, why because everyone can think, feel, have intuition etc. Its all in the functions.

    The Forer Effect is a sound theory - yet can it apply to a specific description of preferences that would be mutually exclusive from preferences of, for example, someone whose answers scored as ENFJ?
    In fact, the reliability of the MBTI is close to .8, and validity is about the same. It's an accurate test.
    That doesn't mean that the tests, and the explanation of the theory, given by the high majority of sources is not complete crap. I know of one source of the validated MBTI instrument.
