Now we know why the RB26 is still the best Inline 6 Cylinder beast ever created by Nissan although the block with small crankshaft space with less vibrations with aftermarket forged Pistons and Crankshaft pushes from 8,000 RPM> 240kmh to a whopping 11,000 RPM> 320kmh. But don't get me wrong, the Toyota 2JZ has bigger displacement components per rpm cycle inside the lower block which the Crankshaft is housed. Also not to forget the 2JZ supports aftermarket Sequential Turbo Charging upgrades which alleviates turbo lag achieving boost at its best performance. Deep down in my heart, I love RB26 Nismo or RB26 V-Spec II.

Why does air have less time to enter the cilinder? In all cases the piston takes the exact same time to travel from TDC to BDC. The piston speed compensates the stroke length. The only thing affecting time is RPM. So every engine can get more air in at lower RPM. In fact, a larger bore can have bigger valves, thus allowing more air to come in without hitting supersonic speeds.
It always made me sad that the RB26 wasn't 3 litres to directly compete with the supra. While I enjoy both platforms, only one has countless JGTC wins, and in Australia.? I saw you mentioned the N54! That's my engine! While you are right about the N54, the biggest perk of this engine is buying a $60 dongle, $60 tuning map and achieving 420ish horsepower with no other mods. If you add better coils, intake and catless downpipes/exhaust, you can get up to 450-480hp. If you add turbos and fuel pump, you can hit 700-800 rwhp.

A very good engine for sure, nowadays it might be challenged by the Ford Barra 6, the Toyota Supra was also a very good engine! I have heard of Barra's up and over 1200hp 😲😲
great video only few things off like, the r32 erving too 7.5k..actually it reved too 8k or more stock. My 33 reved too 8300 stock With cams reving too 9k isn’t a problem in stock form! that’s right, a powerband from 3.5-9k with tiny mods!!!
A fair bit of the information in this is not correct. The RB24 only ever went into LHD Cefiros. It's an incredibly uncommon engine, and was never put into a skyline or race vehicle at all as far as I know. It was a jump from the RB20DET to the RB26DETT with no middle step. The R33 is indeed slightly heavier for the tradeoff of an improved AWD system, brakes, boost increase from stock, different body parts for reduced lift at high speed and a lower drag coefficient, improved body rigidity, along with a whole ton of changed to weight distribution and the list goes on. The only thing that stayed the same between all 3 models was the engine.
Yep, bhere were also some differences in the RB26 too, like the short nose crankshaft in early R32's that caused oil pump issues, ceramic turbos in the R34, some variants got the stronger N1 block as opposed to the standard O5U block etc etc.
Anyone else notice the animation in the beginning is wrong on the exhaust stroke ? The exhaust valves open during the combustion cycle on the pistons way down in the video. The valves should be opening on the pistons way. up.
