My grandpa did everything with his massey 245. I remember fondly the smell of the diesel exhaust in the hay field in the heat of summer. I now have a newer massey for my small homestead and hope I can give my kids some good memories with the massey.

Those old sickle mowers are real handy for that type of work and use. I had one back in the 90's that I used for haying but it was not in the best of shape. So I sold it and went to a JD 1209 haybine, I sure could us a sickle mower these days, for ditches and pond banks. Thanks, I hope you have a nice day.

That sickle bar mower would come in handy for ditch lines and whatever else you need to mow. How big of a tree will that thing take down? 2"? The one I used years ago wouldn't cut grass it need some work, the guys used it for the brush mower and let it go. The camera angle was pretty good it reminded me of the simulator my boys played!
I don’t try cutting anything very big with it because it’s hard on them. I stick with grass and weeds only. Still mow hay with this one on occasions. Thanks for watching

I like the sickle mower I use one to cut hay and trim my pond off with I live in Kentucky and the ground I cut for hay isn't the flattest ground and sickle mower cuts a better finish than a disc mower not nearly as quick but it does a good job I use a 501 ford

Really nice video. A sickle bar mower is a lot of fun to watch, except if it is my sickle bar mower. Not sure what MF model mine is, but it probably needs a complete rebuild. Parts up here are terrible expensive to rebuild anything. Nice match up with the 245.

That Massey is still running strong. A guy that I know has a Massey 35 that he is wanting to sale. He is asking 3,000 for it. Is that a good price
Depends on if it’s gas or diesel. If it’s diesel and metal work is still in good condition it’s probably an ok price. Thanks for watching
@@khtractors is a 3-cylinder gas. Perkins. The metal is in pretty good shape and the tires are in really good shape.
Is a sickle mower the same as a finger bar mower?.
I’ve never heard the term finger bar mower used so I’m not sure.
