I had a tcm-430 with the same ff and rw issue, I fix it by jamming the little plastic ring on the shaft and drowning the top of it in super glue. It may not be elegant, but it's held up fine with no issues for a couple years now and it's still going strong!
I have the same model, except mine won't stop spinning when I turn it on, even if play hasn't been pressed. There's a little black ring missing, could that be it? It appears to go to where there's a little switch to stop the motor, but when I try to put it back, it won't stay
Hi! Got the same model, however I can't find the grey clip (the one with the spring around it) would there be any other way of getting around this? As currently fast forward and rewind do not work Hope you can help!
That's going to be tricky. You will need to find something that will hold the spring in place. Without the spring, you won't get FF/RW. It's a pretty bad design if you ask me. Perhaps you can find a C-clip or a washer the right size?
@@ChrisMX9 Crazy that I came across this old video just 20 hours after your comment. Do you mean there are generic parts like springs and washers or are there are actual kits for this specific problem?

I have the same problem, they're so finnicky that I seem to have lost both parts. Will try to find one the right size for the job.
@@Suedeash not sure if this has been solved but there are parts to fix this problem on ebay that are pretty cheap
