I love the character growth in How to Train your Dragon. The characters grow and develop throughout the trilogy, the best ost in Dreamworks and the animation was so good. IMO I think it’s better than Kung fu Panda. I like both movie trilogies
12:30 you are right on the money bro,the series: riders of berk, defenders of berk and especially race to the edge,were indeed crazy,they have been through so much,i mean so many new and fun characters,insane dragons, the whole package,you should check it out at least in your free time.

So many new dragon an shit and they all cold as hell
interesting fact drago can control his alpha because he trained it from when it was a small baby using pain its the same way they used to train elephants the animal is smart enough to understand that if it sees the bullhook (the hook he waves around while shouting) and hears drago scream he better obey or there could be pain but the animal isn't smart enough to reassess the situation and that it is now bigger then drago or the trainer so it simply just remembers i do as I'm told or he'll use the hook to cause me great pain like when i was very small.
also i love the little details in this movie like how we see papa hiccup and drago fighting mirroring the alphas fighting and it also explains why mamma hiccup liked the alpha so much it was essentially a dragon version of her husband (a strong leader who protects his own, with the shape of a big beard). also that the alpha loses his horn mirroring that drago lost his left arm (same as how hiccup lost his leg on the same side as toothlesses tail fin)
HTTYD 2 is by far the best sequel DreamWorks has ever made

you gotta watch the "riders of berk" show. shits pretty lit, one of my favorite shows growing up alongside gumball, regualr show, adventure time, gravity falls and ben 10, kung fu panda show and tmnt. (not including anime ofc)
The shows do kinda give more background to whats happening in the 2nd movie/ ehat happened between the 1st and 2nd movie
You can actually see what happend in these 5 years everything explained the suit the sword how Stoik gets Skullcrasher and a lot more new dragons, that show is crazy

It so sad that Stoick and Valka reunited after 20 years of not seeing each other and finally becoming a whole family again, but sadly it was short lived 😢.
Dude, you just have to watch a TV series about dragons, not only because of the awesome connection with the second part and the explanation of some things (like Stoick's dragon and Hiccup's sword) but also because of the plot in principle.
And if you like watching Astrid and Hiccup's relationship develop (since when have they been engaged,
for example) then you just won’t be able to stop watching this series))))
Kinda funny how some of the best characters and the best villain in the series are in the Netflix show Race to the Edge. Viggo Grimborn is an unexpectedly brilliant villain. A perfect foil to Hiccup's character. A shame that the show is PG13. The stakes could've been INSANE in the show
If you decide to watch the shows then get ready for a good amount of filler episodes between the main story ones, that only develop certain characters. Ngl, the side characters Fishlegs, Snotlout and the twins are actually amazing in the shows, because they actually get meaningful development are whole episodes dedicated for them. They aren't just the comic relief in the show. For fans of the series, the shows are, imo, a must watch, just for how the whole world and a shit ton of characters get developed.
The parents' names and dragon names are crazy, then theres the kid and his dragon. Stoick The Vast, Skullcrusher. Valka, Cloudjumper. Hiccup, Toothless
Anyway, this gonna be long...
I really wanted astrid to be appointed chief in this movie, and for toothless' upgrade to happen in the third movie. There shouldve been some caveat that makes it that becuz toothless isnt an alpha species, he cant become the alpha despite challenging it. They couldve just highlighted the fact that it was all of those dragons against Drago's alpha. The end kinda felt like hiccup was being forced to stand up as chief despite his heart not being up for it, and since toothless is his dragon partner, he should be the alpha too.
The human partners couldve shared responsibilities, Astrid for the village, and then Hiccup, with Valka's guidance, for the Dragons. This wouldve made the first movie be about the dragons and humans status quo changing and their stances aligning together for the better, the second movie about the dragon riders' place in the village and it's new culture centered around the dragons and well being together, then the third movie be about the village of dragons' and dragon riders' place in a world that isnt ready to accept them and such a relationship.
Hiccup and Valka would be flying out there filling up the map Hiccup started drawing and looking for places for the extra dragons from Valka's place to live in, while Astrid holds down and manages the fort in the ending of the second movie and start of the third movie. Why Astrid for chief? She was the foremost teen viking before Hiccup started discovering how to tame the dragons, she was the first to be on Hiccup's side, she definitely has leadership skills and excels at anything viking. All this while Hiccup is out there being an advocate for dragons and human-dragon partnerships. Which is exactly how this movie starts, Astrid excelling in the village, while Hiccup is out there being Hiccup. Eret getting Skullcrusher after Stoic im still iffy about too.
And finally, for toothless' upgrade, which shouldve happened in the third movie as a set with those lightning charged abilities. Cuz what does he get here? Just blue lights and a fire breath that's a bit stronger? Nah man, make that a set with the new powers that's to come in the next movie..

27:31 something that this reminded me of is the fact people are mad they didn’t have any black characters that were good. there was 2 black people in the entire franchise, and they both were villains, i doubt it’s because of racism, but the fact that they live up in the north, like, icelandic, norse, norwegian, all that 💀 and people were mad that the only black people were the bad guys that travelled far and wide to conquer the world
like, i understand some of it, i would’ve LOVED to have a black protagonist in this show (y’all blacks are so pretty, istg)
but i think the people getting legit mad about that skipped geography class-
It's not that they hated hiccup. It's just he was more of a nuisance of them like he was always getting in the way they didn't hate him though.
