Difficult to condemn a country for energy independence and elevating themselves out of 3rd world status. Cheap energy, develops agriculture, manufacturing etc. Interestingly no video's condemning China

China is by far the leading hard coal producer worldwide.
China, India, Indonesia, the US, and Russia were the top five countries that contributed the most to global growth in 2021, backed by supporting government policies to boost domestic output.
India ranks fifth among the nations with the largest coal reserves in the world, and with a production of 761 million metric tonnes, it is the second-largest coal producer in the world behind China. 0:02

Coal is a fossil fuel, and is the dirtiest of them all, responsible for over 0.3C of the 1C increase in global average temperatures. This makes it the single largest source of global temperature rise. 0:17
Chemically, coal is mostly carbon, which, when burned, reacts with oxygen in the air to produce carbon dioxide, a heat-trapping gas. When released into the atmosphere, carbon dioxide works like a blanket, warming the earth above normal limits.

Coal sits in the centre of climate and energy discussions because it is the largest energy source globally for electricity generation and for the production of iron and steel and of cement, as well as the largest single source of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. The current energy crisis has forced some countries to increase their reliance on coal in spite of climate and energy targets.

I live here in Singrauli, and I can say that this video is clearly biased and is running with an agenda. For example, the tribal family shown at the end, is living at an Island, near the lake (made by Coal India itself, earlier used as a water reservoir). So to supply electricity at that Island is a tough job, anyway govt has supplied electricity there as well now. Also multiple attempts have been made by govts for them to shift to some Village or any other connected place where they can be provided with services.
Better learn about the situation before condemning own land. Anyways I don't think India is perfect but I also don't think there is any better country with lesser crime or corruption. Change my mind.

India is doomed to mostly using coal for power generation _(given the high price of oil and the lack of land for solar power)_
This is terrible news for our planet given that India has the world's second largest population.
Add to that the fact that China is putting up ONE NEW COAL PLANT EVERY WEEK and those carbon emission control treaties by the West look to be a joke 😥

      @@toothlessseer3153 that is your opinion.
      Not truth.
Truth is that West for its interest has banned access to cheap Iranian and Venezuelan oil and gas.
India being net importer is affected most by this sanction non sense.
Iran keeps pleading india to bypass sanctions by starting rupee rial trade.
If India has access to cheap Gas like EU does, a lot of coal plants will be replaced by gas.
India isn't doomed to use coal.
Renewables are rising in India at exponential rate.
Well looking at USA and western countries's self suicidal economic and political policies, soon India will be free to get best deal for itself.

@@gangar99 I regret to inform you that India is SIMPLY UNABLE to get the oil or gas or solar power or wind power to meet the electricity needs of its 1.3 billion people
      SOLAR:
India is heavily overpopulated, hardly has any space for solar power _(which require enormous amounts of land if you bother to do the SIMPLE MATH re. solar generation)._ As of today India produces 59 GW out of the total of 404 GW of electricity produced. And that is close to its LIMIT. _Add to that the reality that India's electricity usage will need to at least double due to impending electric cars and the solar generation picture looks even worse.
      WIND:
India barely has enough wind power _(back in the 80s I was pals with a Dutch engineer setting up wind power in South India)._ Note that India's TARGET for wind generation in 2022 is *5 GW* _(out of 404 GW produced)_
      OIL (to produce power):
India simply cannot afford to burn oil to produce power. _(Never done that in its 75 years history and will not for the foreseeable future)_
      GAS:
Gas will need to come from the Middle East (closest location).
1 - Yes Iran has lots of gas. Unfortunately Iran produces very little Liquefied Natural Gas (which India needs).
This chart shows Iran is not even in the top 10 nations.
      www.statista.com/statistics/1262074/global-lng-export-capacity-by-country/#:~:text=Australia%20and%20Qatar%20are%20currently,of%2073.9%20million%20metric%20tons.
2 - Increasing LNG capacity requires enormous investments (like Qatar made 20 years ago) and Iran is broke.
3 - LNG is at least TWICE the cost of piped gas. I fail to see India being able to afford to buy gas at that scale _(given that the average Indian earns one of the lowest annual incomes on earth i.e. about $2,000 per year)_
4 - The ONLY way India could afford LNG is via giant pipelines from the Middle East to India. Piping thru Pakistan is impossible. Which leaves piping under the sea, an ENORMOUSLY expensive process that India would struggle to finance.
So sadly, India will be forced to burn coal (and most of it the worst grade of coal i.e. Lignite) for its power generation. It SIMPLY CANNOT AFFORD anything else.
_And despite your 'predictions' of the US' impending suicide... You may be AMAZED to hear that the US is the LARGEST OIL PRODUCER in the world. AND the LARGEST GAS PRODUCER in the world too. We actually WASTE more gas (by burning it off at fracking sites) than India CONSUMES. (So have no fear... Our 'economic suicide' is not in the foreseeable future 😜)_
