When I first saw the title I thought rare was referring to the way it was cooked even though I saw the video, I thought they were gonna go to salmonella city
These chickens are supposed to be tasty if they taste different, with most of black breeds tasting same as regular ones. They're known to be preferred for nutritious value and medicinal property not really for taste, it's not bad.
It is much tastier. He just cooked it wrong. It's used for soup, not for grilling lol. The meat isnt soft like regular white chicken meat. It's tough like jerky
I'm from Taiwan, you can buy this kind of chicken everywhere, like a couple of US dollars for a whole one, they tastes ok, I think it's like normal chicken, but some say it's more nutritious
I love silky chicken! I’m glad you tried it out 😊 usually in Chinese dishes I’ve seen, it’s used to make broth-like soups. I’d totally recommend you test it out in a Chinese soup recipe!
In chinese cooking we rarely cook and eat the meat. Its usually in medicine soups and it makes the soup really nice. Cantonese medicine soups is #1 in china
Here in the US it is a very rare and unique chicken. My girlfriend who is from Taiwan cooks this allllll the time! It’s best served in stews and soups. GREAT for broths too! But really a thing you grill or roast
When cooked properly (like the comments stated below- usually in a Asian/Chinese stew or soup recipe), you'll realize that the black chicken actually: - somewhat smoother - much more tender and sweeter - has much much much more of that fresh "chicken flavour" than your average chicken :D hope this helps
You're cooking it wrong. This dark chicken has to be stewed, that's when the meat will reveal its flavors, it's so tender it's wonderful with a bowl of rice and the juice
even if stewed, it has very different flavor profile compared to normal chicken. i prefer normal chicken lol. black chicken is not worth the hype and extra work
It's called Ayam Cemani, in Indonesia... We use it for medicine, n offerings in Hindu.... It's pretty expensive, here... N the real ones, have black blood... So not only black on the outside, it's also black inside.... 😊...
Beda yang ini ayam yang cuma item diluarnya . Kaga sampe dalem" , kalo cemani kan semuanya hitam bahkan sampe di daging dalamnya juga kalo yang ini cuma luarnya yang item
Just a heads up the silkie chicken is an ornamental breed so it has little fat and weird taste as it hasn't been bred for taste in hundreds of years. The reason it's blue is because it has fibromelanism a condition which causes all of its tissues to produce extra melanin which makes it appear to be black or navy blue. There are more suitable breeds like Ayam Cemanis and some Cemani or silkie crossbreeds with broilers and they are much more like a regular meat breed.
I was gonna say that, there are absolutely different varieties that these black chickens come from it's not a single breed. Also, they taste almost the same as regular local chickens not terrible or better, though you mentioned some taste weird.
Have to boil it or steam it for it to tastes tender. Just like the thousand year old egg, only if you cook it with Chinese cuisine, and be a Chinese who grew up eating it, then you will enjoy it.
I have a few silky chickens, cutest darn things. They look like bunny rabbits with a beak and two legs. Watching those things is just hilarious too. They can't see a thing because of their large afro on their head covering their eyes sometimes. They are adorable
Different chicken breed boo, I have an Ayam Cemani and 2 silkies and the cemanis are the all black ones whilst the silkies are the silly lil fluffy ones
