Works great! ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxprGGPRQoChQaA8u58dt7miEpxQBKiWeJ More difficult with longer grass, though, but I was expecting that. I have a small back yard, it seemed like overkill to buy a lawnmower with an engine. This is easy to carry in and out of the basement through the bulkhead. Very sharp (be careful). At the back of the mower are little wheels, which I use when pulling the mower backwards, so it's easy to readjust direction. I'm including a photo which shows the before and after for my lawn when it was at its longest. For long grass like that you really have to put some muscle into it, and I needed to go into a new section of grass with some momentum, but when the grass is only an inch or two higher than regular cut height it's quite easy. The lawn is still patchy and full of weeds, but at least it's a good height! A step in the right direction.
Blessings brother, I know this video is old, but where exactly did you get this set up to buy? I'm seeking to buy a unit that comes with groomer, verticutter and scarifier.
Scott Bonnar first went to South Africa for export, set up a warehouse and distribution network back in the 60's from memory, so now they export the same product back to us! That's the Aussie way.
Hahaha luv'd the little comment about how dirty your garage door was. We had the same issue here in country vic, it was raining mud on Wednesday night. So my Monday public holiday consists of oversowing, pressure washing the footpaths and washing all the windows!!!!
Get a load of arborists mulch for your garden beds, mulch that has all the leaves and bark in it and lots of nutrients. I use it here in Perth and it's virtually free and does wonders for the soil and drought proofing. Put it on literally a foot thick, pulled back from plant stems, and water it in well, it'll settle to 150-200 mm pretty quickly. You'll never have to pull a weed again as long as you top it up every 18 months or so. I get 18m3 for $50 so it's definitely affordable.
Looks like a good mower. I bought a massport 500 with a 26" width. It halved my cutting time compared to the 17" Scott Bonnar. Wider produces flatter cuts but the massport needs a bit more weight so may add some lead, but don't think the clutch can take much more weight. The old 17" Scott Bonnar has poor gearing for the roller to blade turning ratio IMO. For 2k, the massport is OK, it does have a bad rap on the net, but so far with 30 odd 400m2 lawn cuts, never let me down and the roller speed to blade speed ratio way better where the mower is not too fast.
We're so close to the turn around! I'm curious what the kids think of the grass right now. They were playing on a plush outdoor carpet but now it looks like a setting from Mad Max Fury Road.
Hi Ben My kikuyu grass from seed already grew but it looks 50% kikuyu and 50% paspalum is that normal if you grow grass from seed? Thanks, bro for your help👍👍👍.
Hey Ben, looks like a nice collection of mowers you have going there! Quick question about measuring your height of cut off a grooved front roller, It looked like you measured it in the groove rather than the high points.
mate where did you get the phone-connected water flow meter? is it wifi, bluetooth, something else? keen to get two of these, for both monitoring mains usage and rain tank usage in real time.
Dude, you have a nice lawn. Ive been following you for a while now. One thing that i cant fathom is the amount of time, money and energy you put into your lawn. And as soon as you turn your back, you get dead patches and diseases on your lawn. Have you considered changing the type of grass you plant? I dont think you have the correct type of grass for your climate and application. I planted Kukuya grass 1.5 years back. The only maintenance I have done since it has settled was water it if we haven't had rain for a few weeks and cut twice a month. My lawn is is great shape,Fluffy, inviting, no dead patches or diseases. I think you will be better of with just fitting some AstroTurf to your yard. I would love to send you pic of my lawn. Not trying to troll you, but damn man, you work hard on that lawn. I think there is better solutions.
Yo Whatup. Just got myself a TPE Professional G20H, just wondering if you have had experience with them at all? Have had a SB17 for the last few months and wanted something bigger. Seems to be a good machine. Appears very similar to this one. Cheers. 🤙
Whipper snip the cooch 😂😅. I always find it cool to see what people call "weed eaters" (Alabama USA) around the world or even around the US. So I don't fully understand what "cooch" is referring too. Is it equal to "lawn" or does it mean "short grass"?
Rover is an Aussie brand of mowers and power gardening tools that started about 60 years ago. The first mowers produced were rotary blades followed by cylinder (reel) mower. The company was sold in 2010 to the American MTD company and has Briggs & Stratton engines. I have a 15 year old Rover 45 cylinder mower with a 17" cutting blade. It still runs and cuts very well with years of regular service. It has a 3.5hp Briggs & Stratton engine. Regards, MW
Are you not scared about damaging your blades on those concrete edges? Wouldn't it be safer to raise the lawn level up higher so you can mow all the way to the edge without danger?
Put some sand on your garden beds to raise them up , raised garden beds are superior for drainage and plant growth . Dig the sand in and turn over the soil
I would say after 3 kids you’ve been pretty rough on the cooch! 😂 but seriously Ben that mower looks nice . Do you have a link so I can get a better look at it?
@@LawnTips Love your video, I learned a lot from you. But I think at this time of the season the grass dont grow so you better let it chill, it can even hurt him ? ( Sorry for my english )
@@tomfish1312 warm season grass is different. It's optimal growing season. It's the healthiest it can be this time of year. Bit different to cool season grass

Happy Australia Day tomorrow.

Love my protea great mower, only got the 14 inch for my first cylinder mower but such a good clean cut 👌🏻
Oh man can’t wait to see it

How much heavier is it than your Swardman?
Hi Ben

What model is this mower, I am thinking of a Protea but I want the one that takes the interchangable cartridges.
If a Toro greensmaster and swardman had a baby it would be that mower. It really nice

Vc sabe indicar uma máquina que arranca os TAPETES???
I'd recommend a GoPro? Some footage when you are doing handheld is a little shakey. I actually felt a little nauseous.
I’ve got a gimbal, sometimes I’m just lazy haha
2:19 chilled me spine right up
Last Aussie 😁. Hit that couch hard , it can take it. Then pamper it with love and attention till the next session. 😎

Let the brush tickle the couch! Take that any way you like Americans 🤣

Where can I get that lawnmower from and will they ship it to wa
What model protea is that ?
Looks like a beast, a shame they don't ship to WA
This is the 'reel deal' - shirt idea?!
What happened to the swardman Benny?

Nice from India.
Man I’m so jealous dood! I would have bought a protea before I bought my gm1000 but can’t get proteas in Hawaii 👎🏽
As much as I like your grass whats so good about haveing such a low cut? I like about a inch of grass.
Personal preference in the end man. Plus it reminds me of my golf course days. Working on greens
