Great Video! I'm going to install the same radio in my b5.5 4motion. What I like most about this video is you tried to make the job look neat with Velcro. Love it! Thank you.
Great video it’s helped me learn a lot, I have the exact same setup I’m about to install it. Wondering what you did with the three grounds coming off of the adapter?
Does the radio antenna work well? i found one adapter by (SCOSCHE VW3A4B) that is amplified and it brings up a question. I was wondering how well your AM/FM works and if it struggles to pick up signal more than usual? I'm also not completely sure that adapter is for this radio anyways
Nice video! Very thorough. So the harness you bought for your car works fine? I was told to get like the 100 dollar one. I’d rather buy the one you got because of the price difference
Thanks! And have you had any issues with the battery running out? I have understood that the Monsoon amp wouldn't know when to turn off with a aftermarket Head unit hence draining the battery.
Hey, can you help me figure out something I have a factory radio I checked all my fuses and they’re good and I play sound, and I put it on low volume or high volume and my radio like cutting it in and out on the audio but not power the audio will cut in and out every 3-4secs
Hello, Your 2001 Passat is a B5. Yes, you can fit a double din radio. Check the link below to get the wire harness and other things you might need. enfigcarstereo.com/RADIO_VW_PASSAT_99.html
It depends on what harness you use. The harness that I used in the video did not maintain the steering wheel controls. check enfigcarstereo.com for a harness that will let you keep the controls,
I have an 01 passat (face-lift one) and after putting aftermarket radio in, the car is always dead after 2 days if I dont drive it. Do you know the fix for this?
The radio might still be on when you turn off the car. Check the link in the description, about how to make the radio turn off when you remove the key.
The BHW diesel? the only differince is this car in the video is a GLX and the TDI only came as GLS or GL, with the optional monsoon system on the GLS. I have a GLS TDI with a non-monsoon system and according to every photo and website I have seen, the adapter will be the same, it just has less pins on it because it is not the monsoon. the setup will be the exact same on a non-monsoon system, as long as it is still a double din (the size of head unit in the video) in your car.
the only reason I watched your video is to make sense of the wire colors.. that snap was not helpful at all. can you explain what wires went where? there are three brown wires called mute.. where do they go??!?
Yo thanks my G I have Passat B5.5 2005 year and its basically the same will it fit also I suppose so but I am looking for confirmation. I'll toss a like and stay good 👍
This was a great straightforward video I'm gonna ask a really dumbass question here. Replacing the radio doesn't affect the car security system with the immobilizer does it? I don't think it does I ask this because I own two saabs and you'll piss the car off if you remove it """" 05 Passat AWD wagon 1.8
Hey, from my understanding that's normal oem sound the car makes when the key is inserted. Maybe your speaker that makes the sound is bad? Did you check all the fuses?
I did not disconnect the battery prior to the install. However, I would advise to disconnect the battery if it makes you more comfortable with the install.
@@CraftyWorkshopBuilds Thanks, but I ran into another issue. Keys that I ordered didn't work. I was unable to remove the system and one of the keys is stuck. You made it look easy, hasn't gone smooth for me at all!!
@@darrjon67oh okay, did you order they keys from the link in the description? If you install the keys correctly sometimes they do get stuck, which is fine. They will be easy to remove once the radio is out.

I'm happy you got value from this video!
Question, the same radio would work on the VOLKSWAGEN Golf 1.6 FSI Sportline 2004, great content by the way!!
Yes, this same radio will work. You would need the correct dash kit and harness. Thank you!
Great video it’s helped me learn a lot, I have the exact same setup I’m about to install it. Wondering what you did with the three grounds coming off of the adapter?
Putting the same set up in right now and am wondering the same thing did you figure it out ?
@@zaya.916 Yes I did, the grounds are considered mute wires. I taped them and the red turn key power wire together and left them. Hope this helps.

thx for the great how to bro. can i just use any double din radio?
Yes, you can use any double din radio you wish. You just need to connect that radio's harness to the adapter. Thanks for watching!

How many inches is the radio you just installed in that car Sir?
Nice video. I got one question… can you still use your buttons on the steering wheel to control volume?
No, I was not able to retain the steering volume control with this adapter.

Yes, this harness works fine. No issues since installation.
Do you know how to replace the window trim? The chrome strips? I cant find it anywhere..
Nice! Do the heated seats still work good?
Thanks! Yea, they still work.
have you had any electrical problems with the car after installation?
I've had no issues since the installation.
What's the wire harnesses part description that hooks too the factory wire harness plz
How easy is it to remove the radio after an install with this double din dash unit? How do you do it?
obrigado

Hi, thanks for thorough video! Will this setup work with the monsoon amp, or have you wired the speakers directly to the head unit?
It worked with the monsoon amp, no separate wiring.
Thanks! And have you had any issues with the battery running out? I have understood that the Monsoon amp wouldn't know when to turn off with a aftermarket Head unit hence draining the battery.
Nah, the amp never drained my battery. To make the aftermarket radio turn off automatically, check out my other video in the description.

Nice video/work. Can you make a video where you replace speakers for Passat b5.5(full replacement)? I really need to know.
I can, but I'm not sure when. I'm currently working on a couple other videos.
thanks for the help dude
how well is the unit set in the mount?
does it push back when you press the buttons
Nah, it stays in place.
Nice video bro 👍 You made me wanna do this on my Galaxy. Thanks 🙌
Thank you! Sure, do it. Lol
Does the radio HAVE to turn on and off when you put the key in or the extra steps are optional? 😅
If you want the radio to turn off when you remove the key, you gotta do an extra step. Check the link in the description to see the other video
@@CraftyWorkshopBuilds does the screen not turn of if you don’t do the other step?
So when you press buttons on radio. Do radio moves also? Because i think you forgot 1 missing component for installing a 2din radio
No, the radio stays in place when I press buttons.
You sure the radio wouldn't be clicked in after the frame ?? Just seems s little wobbly :D
Hello. Do you know if this would fit in a 2001 VW Passat? The 2001 looks like that except it has a tape player instead of CD player. Thanks!
