    I just made these today. I found the tart shell to be too dry so I ended up adding some of the egg white to the mix and they turned out fine. I didn't see this issue with anyone else though so maybe my egg yolk was just too small/ the flour may have packed when I scooped it with my measuring cup. Additionally, I had to use a cupcake tin because I don't have tart moulds, and while still delicious, it did give the tarts a more rustic look. I also ended up burning the tops (because someone came to the door lol), but it's really easy to take the burnt layer off, rebrush with egg yolk, and bake again.
    These were very, very good! they're not overly sweet, and the lemon zest really adds to the tart shell. I definitely recommend this recipe. This made 9 tarts :)

    Thank you for the recipe. I dont have some of the cheese but i replace with other cheese. Thus, the taste was so good. Very delicious. Worth it

    Just tried this today and it turned out great! Except that my tart shell dough came out really hard and crumbly and i struggled to press it into the tart moulds (upon baking, it turned out very dry). The filling was great - I used additional cream cheese (to replace mascarpone) and a bit of mozzarella (basically what I had at home) and it still turned out great :) thanks for the recipe!

    I had no idea these luscious tarts were that easy. Btw could I use a torch to crisp up the tops instead of the broiler?

    When i bake the shells, do i place them in the lowest rack using top&bottom heat?
    Also, how long do i need to preheat the oven when baking the filling with tart? Grill for approximately how long and at which level of rack?

      This is such a late reply, but hopefully this is helpful for anyone making this! When I made these, I put the tarts on a middle/bottom rack while baking the crust. For the grilling portion, I preheated my oven to 450, then put the tart with filling on the top rack for about five minutes. When doing the grilling portion, it will probably brown more evenly if the top is more flat or even.

      Use 100g creamcheese for mascarpone, mascarpone help the filling smoother and silky cream cheeses work just fine

    May i know why my cheese combination become very thick and i can't shif to the bowl at the end? Is it because i mixed and heated too long? Didn't intend to mix too long but the ingredient haven't dissolved and mixed well, still got crumbs. Thank you

      If you overheat it, it will inevitably become too thick. Make sure you're constantly whisking the mixture. Once you add the egg, you have to continue mixing and be careful because the egg and corn starch is what thickens the cream.
      I would say mix until you're starting to see the bottom of the pan, and the cream does not immediately disappear when you let it drop into the pan with your whisk. It's kind of a pudding texture! Hope this helps :)

    do you think it would be possible to use a muffin tin to bake these in? i don’t own any tart tins.

      I would say maybe it will be a bit difficult to remove the shells from the muffin tin since they're flaky but you could give it a try though. Do let me know how it goes for you. Hope it helps. Thanks!

      You could line the muffin tin with cupcake liners. It should be pretty easy to get them out ;)

    @El Mundo Eats What do you mean by grill in the oven? I don't think I have that function on my oven. How else can I cook it? Baking temp and time?

      Grill is also known as broil. It's using just the top heat in the oven at high temperature, around 450 ºF (230 ºC). If you can't choose top heat only, then place your rack a bit higher in the oven. The objective is to lightly char the top surface of the tarts. Keep an eye on them, it's only for a few minutes. Hope it helps.
