Going with the Plus. Photography is a hobbie, but 1200 is a lot of cash. If I want really good zoom, I'll use my Canon and one of my several high quality lenses. 🤷
I got 14 plus a few months ago and pretty happy with it. 5 Times zoom on pro max is not something amazing. My Canon Powershot camera has 40X optical zoom and its pretty compact:)
I wish the 15Pro had the 5x zoom and I would pay extra for it. I prefer the more compact design on the Pro vs Max for pocket storage and single hand thumb usage across the entire screen. But the whole idea for me is long travel where I do not have to take an extra camera like a Canon or whatever and can be satisfied with the iPhone camera which is the 15 Pro Max nails with the zoom and other camera features. When you add the USB connect which means one standard cable now in my travel bags it is the closest thing to a home run IMO. So now I have to decide if carrying a new larger iPhone around is worth that camera zoom? I had a larger iPhone years ago and it was OK but I went back to the smaller ones due to the above mentioned stuff.
@@edtravelbug I understand. I'm actually now debating my decision. I prefer a small phone as well (I'd still have the 13 mini if not for the poor battery life). I'm considering the 15 pro or maybe even the regular 15. But battery life is so important to me. I'm not sure what to do 🥴
I’m going w/ the plus as well since I love the pink color and I’m upgrading again next year so it would be stupid of me to spend extra money on an iPhone 15 pro. I’m just gonna suffer with this big ass phone for a year lol

Going for the plus. I don’t take pictures and if needed to I’ll get an actual camera. Getting really fedup of reviewers automatically slate the “lower” end device and go for the pro. Not everyone can afford those models and these guys need to wake up and get back into reality, it’s a phone.
I wish someone would do an honest review of which one is better for the average everyday consumer including price as well. I’m with you. I’m tired of every tech UA-camr thinking the pros are the only one that people should get. This year especially in my eyes the regular 15s are closer than ever before to the pros, but UA-camrs automatically assume no 120hz then it’s not worth it. I have a 13PM and an iPad 9 and I go between the two every day and have never thought, “Let my grab my 13PM cause this iPad screen if awful!” Lol! I’ve put them side by side and can hardly tell the difference even then.

I got the pro max and used it for a week before returning it. I wasn’t impressed with telephoto and I just don’t see 120hz difference. I got a 15 plus instead and I love it. Camera is equally good, screen equally bright. It’s basically a 14 pro.
I don’t believe apple on the battery. The plus crushed the pro max so far in battery. Not even close. Very happy.
Yea the 15 plus outlasts it. Big reason why I went with it over the pro max. Just been trying to simplify a little more in life and it’s been great. I personally can notice the difference with 60 to 120hz but you get used to it after a few swipes.
Can I ask what phone you upgrade from? I currently have the base IPhone 12 and am really hesitant between the 15 pro Max and 15 plus.
I had an iPhone XR. My wife has a 13 pro. It’s nice (a little too heavy if you ask me). I just didn’t see the need to go “pro”.

Always drawn to the Pro Max but this year for what I actually get out of my phone I think the Plus will do me fine and besides slap a case on it and activate dark mode and they look the same to me. :)

Why
The only games I enjoy on a phone is Mario Kart and Monopoly. I find 120hz faster yes, no doubt. But I find 60hz to be smoother when I’m scrolling. It’s a nice pace rather than a fast pace.
The 120hz is both faster and smoother in my opinion but 60hz is alright but now that I use the 120hz 14 pro max I don’t wanna go back to 60hz
I’ve had the IPhone 2,4,6 and 8 plus. Haven’t had a new phone in years, so I’m going for the IPhone 15 Pro Max and will have this phone for awhile.

I have an iphone 8 plus too and been using it since 2018. I think i will upgrade to 15 pro so its easier to hold on one hand

I’ve had the 6s plus since it’s release and just ungraded to the 15 pro max model, now I’m hoping I didn’t make a mistake not going for the 15 plus because all day battery is ridiculously important to me. I also daily carry Samsung galaxy which is my main photo taking phone and I like the look of android photos better anyway. I’m thinking of switching models if this battery drain, warm/heating issue persist
I just went to the store today to see them and decide which color, now I’m back at square one. Plus, pro or pro max? I thought I’ll get the pro and save some money, but seeing them next to each other the pro looks so small…. I now have a XS max
the titanium makes the 15 pro max back glass break easily due to the higher tension and the plus has 2 more hours of battery life

Z Fold 5 can go upto 2 days of battery, way better than 15 Plus while being way better than 15 Pro Max in anything
@@WololoWololo2 true i researched all androids my top picks ended up being zfold5 s23u sony xperia 1 v and rog 7 ultimate but i decided to just stick to my ecosystem almost entirely due to the stupid android thing where you only get security updates and regular updates for a finite period of time. i already have a steam deck to emulate so that was my other reason

Well about $300 cheaper than the iPhone 13 Pro Max 1 TB
The only two down faults with the regular 15 models. Is the lack of not having always on display and they’re still stuck on 60 HRZ which is both a joke and ridiculous. Those aren’t pro features but regular features that all phones should have by standards.
Not forgetting slow charging and very slow transfer speeds (400mbsps versus 10gb)… iphone 15 is so poor, an old man with a jacket

In real world battery tests the pro max battery is a few hours less than the plus - a huge difference! - when I found this out I cancelled my pro order and ordered a plus.
EDIT: Some good points in the replies, you get smaller screen bezels on the pro (but it's far less durable if dropped) and you get 120hz. For me battery and durability were more important but the Pro does have advantages.

I’m torn between this years models. Not a fan of the regular 15 colors this year. But contrary to the impression that Apple’s charts show, the Mrwhosetheboss channel just did a battery comparison where the 15+ came in as the longest battery life on any iphone ever, lasting over 13 hours while the Pro Max lasted just over 11. Sadly the base pro model which I had my eye on, only lasted 9 and came in 5th place losing out to even older phones. I was not expecting that. So now I don’t know what to do. I want the blue pro color and faster USB speed, but damn I want that over 13 hour battery life of the 15+ too. But not a fan of the bigger size or color of that. Hate this dilemma. 🙁

Don’t know if this helps but I’m returning my Pro and considering buying the 15 plus. I found that my wife’s base 15 takes consistently better photos than my Pro. I don’t know if it’s the software or if it’s my phone that came with some defect, but it’s really noticeable. I’m extremely disappointed. Also noticed that the battery isn’t that great so that was also a disappointment. For the same money, I think I’m gonna get the 15 plus with double the storage and much better battery life. Also, the black 15 plus is 🔥
Every Pro Max that's released has garbage battery life versus lower models, and they update them to adjust it. ProMotion is the only thing keeping me from the Plus. I'm using an S23U at present but would prefer to jump back to the iPhone and get an Ultra watch.
I feel the same but I am from India. Here the price difference is huuuuuge. 15 pro max 160k, 15 plus 90k. That’s a huge difference. And 15 plus has the longest battery life ever in an iPhone as we can see in MrWhosetheboss video. I don’t care about action button, Titanium, 256gb base memory, A17 pro chip(bcz I don’t play games in mobile) but I want that 5* Optical zoom. As per price diff I am going with 15 plus. I practically experienced only little bit difference between 60 & 120 Hz , which doesn’t matter for me

Aside from opinions. I am upgrading from a 12 Pro Max is it a huge difference if I upgrade to the 15+ rather than the pro max if I am barely going to use the zoom and camera utilizing more zoom ? Which they don’t come very clear in the first place honestly. If always bought pros but this year I’m not sure. 256gb 15 plus might be the way to go… isn’t there only lighting difference with the plus and pro max ?

Also, action button can have Shortcut in Shortcuts app in iPhone…there is even a shortcut that changes function based on time, location etc…Bixby button didnt succeed as Google assistant is way better. The action button in iPhone can be used for a shortcut for google assistant, chatGPT etc using Shortcuts app
I say buy the phone you want based on your experince with the phone. Don't buy based on someone elses reviews everyones tast is different. If you buy a phone and don't like it take it back.

1200 is for a 256gb to be precise 900 plus is giving 128gn so it actually 1000 for a 256 plus then i think paying extra 200 for those changes is worth it although it is still alot
This comment should have more likes. People saying it’s a "300 difference" are wrong! The base model of the promax is 256gb. so it’s only a $200 difference if you compare the 256gb models
I performed an experiment on an iPhone 12 where I would scroll text at one slower rate where the text would appear almost as if the refresh rate was infinite and then I would scroll at double that rate. This simulates what text would like like at 60 Hz and 120 Hz when scrolling. I do notice a difference. A word would appear blurry when focusing on the word at double the scroll rate when compared to the same word at half of that scroll rate. Based on this test, I do view 120 Hz refresh rate as a very nice to have but not a necessity. However, considering WiFi 6e (lot of advantages here. I work on WiFi chip development), improved camera tech (still no comparison to an actual full-frame mirrorless camera with mid-range to Pro level lenses. Ignore corny Apple marketing), reduced weight, etc, I am leaning to the 256G Byte Pro max)

You will be able to take amazing pictures with the plus, my brothers a photographer says the pro max's camera is only worth it if you care a lot about detailed editing and super zoom.

We have a price difference of $410 between these two models (Plus Pro Max) in France. I won't be getting 256GB, and I won't have 120Hz. However, 120Hz is not worth $410 for me. I don't use the camera
As a skateboarder I learn to buy a camera than using my phone to take videos. Knowing that I’m around a dangerous environment especially with a vulnerable camera exposed.
I have a 13 pro max just wanted to get a regular but the refresh rate is crazy slow
I'm sold for 100w charging with even better thermals than an iPhone.

can a pro max case fit a 15 plus?
I don't play games on my phone besides pokemon go, I don't take many pictures and I can barely tell a difference in my 120 htz pixel7 pro and my 60 htz iphone 11pro max. The 15 pro max also seems to have durability issues and the 15 plus comes in my favorite color (pink) so it's a no brainer to save$200

It's too bad that Apple didn't think anybody would want the new iPhone 15s. IF THEY DID they would have stocked the Apple stores with enough to last more than a day or two. The Apple Store in Metairie, La. doesn't even know when they are going to get any more.

I have thought about that but imo a refresh rate that will eat away at the strained battery of the 14pm is not worth it. the series is known for having the worst battery in recent years that degrades relatively fast. the cameras are also on the same level and they run on the same processor. I currently own a 12 pro and an ipad pro 4th gen. one has 60 hz and the other 120 hz rr and the difference is so minor i just had to check the specs to makes sure any even existed.
for me i have the iphone 12 pro max pacific blue color. or i can wait for the iphone 16 pro max or the iphone 17 pro max. or i could wait until the iphone 18 pro series. coming in 1 to 3 years and maybe a full screen/ display. and also thin bezels for the iphone series. is it worth it to upgrade to the iphone 15 series with usb-c port. or i can get a gaming phone for a good price.

Im already tired of all the iphone 15 video's daily on every tech channel.
Could have put stuff a little more into context. How many people really care about port data speed? I haven’t used it to transfer data in years. The better battery life that Apple advertises for the PM doesn’t show in reality, where almost all tests show the Plus takes the cake.
Biggest bummer with the 15 Plus clearly is the screen, which many even believe to be the same screen as on the 15PM, just with variable frame rate disabled.
I understand why Apple doesn’t want the base iPhone to go with the same screen. If it did, 90% of people wouldn’t get the Pro for what is a zoom lense, an action button and being able to play 5 games at higher settings…

I’d say that if you’re a gamer or someone who likes watching videos, you should get the 15+. It has the best battery life too. Only con is the refresh rate compared to the 15 pro

Depends what game you play and how regularly you play it. If you play simple games and not too regularly get the 15 plus. If you want to play AAA games regularly then get the 15 pro max.
Or the best option is get the plus then buy a PS5 or Xbox.
I currently use a 14 pro and love it but am eligible for an upgrade and have been doing so much research on the 15 plus and 15 pro max to figure out which one to get, this video is exactly the one i’ve been looking for to help me make my decision! Any advice for me specifically with a 14 pro?
I have the same problem. I think I’m going for the pro max but if you’re upgrading only because you want a better battery life and a larger screen and you don’t care about faster usb-c port and promotion display go for the plus.

I am worried I will notice a difference right away since I am using it now. 120hz to 60hz is a big jump. What are your thoughts on that?
@@carynnhildebrand2400 the difference between the 2 phones in terms of money is about 230 euros in the 256gb configuration. If you think that fast usb-c 3.0+ 120hz+ extra camera with 120mm+titanium design+faster 3nm chip worth the extra money I would go for the Max. Coming from a 14 pro the only benefit you would get are a larger screen and more battery but for someone this could be a cons since the iPhone would be bigger to hold in your hands ☺️ I hope this was helpful

My brother is a photographer. He says the plus is great and works amazing for photos as long as you're not doing intense editing. Get the plus, maybe save some extra money, and buy a rare camera if the plus isn't enough.
I use phones as pretty much just phones, a few photos and then playing games and watching youtube, so I think the 15 plus is fine for me. I always use a cover, and for me I'm not tech savvy enough to enough to justify spending the extra 300 on the pro max. I just need the big screen, and the games I play are visual novels, so nowhere near AAA titles
Why not go with Samsung Z Fold 5 then? Tell me, Z Fold 5 is even cheaper than the normal 15, while at much better specs than the 15 Pro Max 1 TB

Getting the 15 plus because in Australian dollars I ain't paying 2 grand on the pro max. I am deciding to upgrade due to the life in the main battery in my iPhone XR which has only 81% and I don't have enough storage on my phone. I have the 128GB iPhone XR and I am upgrading to the 256gb iPhone 15 Plus in the pink.
Bought 15 Pro but now trying out 15 Plus as next. 15 Pro was bit disappointing and I only wanted my old 11 Pro Max back, which I then took in use 🙃

Mine too, the 8 plus was the only premium iPhone besides the 4. I use the 13 mini now, but I will never sell my 8 plus. All newer iPhones feel like toys compared to the 8 plus.

60hz gives a good balance for most users. Better battery consumption and it does not detract from performance.
The Plus variant is more than sufficient for the vast majority.
Also in the Pro variant, new hardware means new problems. Heat for example
By the way, not all of us are experts in photography. As if we look at every photo in detail. Do not think so. So again I don't think this is a problem for the vast majority.
And then that strange action button. I actually like that old mute switch. We bet that many users want to use the volume rocker and then click the action button.
There are people who go to an All Inclusive resort and people who cook themselves in an apartment. They all have a good time in the end. So a little less is no problem

I promised to buy my daughter a new iphone when she gets to 11th grade in 3 years. Same treatment as my 16.5YO son. Both gets a new phone and a car when they get their drivers license. You can call me a racist all you want, doesn’t affect me one bit.
One thing about “smoothness” or “realism” in scrolling: the eye tends to track the text when is moving and this may cause visual fatigue.
This is why Apple give you the possibility of disabling the feature and go down to 60 hZ (you can find it in settings >> accesibility >> movement).
It was first introduced in iPads that have big displays and in 1/60 of a second you move around 1 cm in normal scrolling speed, turning a little unconfortable.
But trust me and test to keep your iphone at 60 hZ a few days: your eyes will be happier and the battery so (less fps, less drain)
I have the 14 pm and dislike the weight. Plus, I don’t use all the features. I have been debating getting the 15 plus in pink but was worried the lower refresh would bother me. I didn’t know I could change my phone to 60Hz 😮. Thank you! I’m going to try it for a few days to see if I can get used to it. 😊😊

For reading articles and watching some videos, reading books I have an ipad mini 6.
I enjoy it more than my previous ipad Pro: is very light, handly and smaller enough to carry in a big pocket…
@@lormor460 just remember it will look worse on the pro models due to it’s variable refresh rate sometimes dipping far below 60hz, as opposed to standard models hard locked to 60hz
60 hertz, 60 hertz...its an animation thing, mostly. If you want "buttery smooth" ,change the animation.

I think I’m going with the Plus this time. I have a PC and Xbox for gaming, and the non-pro cameras seem plenty enough for my non-pro picture taking needs

i’m so torn because i don’t have a ton of money to spend and i want the pretty colors so that leads me to the plus but then i want 1tb and a couple other things that lead me to the pro. i can’t decide lol

Somebody please put iPhone 14 pros 15s and 15 pros display panels parts to detailed comparison, it is very possible they are all the same display, I mean it’s the same sizes, the same peak brightness, all have dynamic island, and it feels Apple is limiting the regular 15s displays to 60hz via software. That would be a huge scandal and maybe and just maybe, they unlock it with an update hahahaha

Most users will never notice the difference between 60Hz and 120Hz. Users have loved iPhones for over a decade without 120Hz.

I don't understand why anyone would pay the prices they want for these phones and not put a case on it.
Everybody is talking about refresh rate. But Apple intentionally didn't update 15/15 plus to WiFi 6e. Screen may cost much more which is understandable but I don't think it's the same with WiFi. Apple thinking only people who uses pro features require faster WiFi says lot about Apple. This also explains why Apple sales are declining.
Why can't the iPhone do 10X optical zoom like in some Android phones? This is a missed opportunity.

What was Apple thinking dropping the 15 Pro Max in such an incomplete state? When I choose the top, more expensive version, I want the best of the best. Even as a gamer I’d still rather wait for the 16 max rather than this years 15 max.

@@martusia5066 i tried the pro Max, it went too hot with taking simple photo’s, even after the update. Didn’t trust it so I switched to Plus. I like it 👍🏼
