Thank you for comparing the D-808 & D-108 on FM broadcast. - Very nice comparison. Also you rightly mentioned that, for the same make radio (but different model), the quality/sensitivity/selectivity largely depends on the price factor. You have undoubtedly proven this fact with on the spot practical example/experiment. Good job done Sir! 😊
I have a humble point to make. As I understand (I might be totally wrong), primarily the FM Band (and probably to some extent for SW Bands) circuit is tuned with reference to the length of the whip antenna. And in case that be so, then your comparing the FM reception of two different radios by equally adjusting the drawn-out length of the two antennas might need a bit of rethink.
I own the D-808 (1st version) as well as D-109. I don't have the D-108. I have compared the FM reception on both radios, and I find that the FM OUTPUT Signal Strength of D-109 is much better and thus giving clear sound without any surrounding noise attached. Whereas, under identical environment conditions, that's not the case with the D-808.
Also, IMO, if one can afford, I would recommend the D-808 and avoid the D108. The D-109 is also a good radio, but is known for it's overload issue when an external antenna is attached.
Just my personal opinion.
I eagerly await the comparison between the D-108 & D-109.

Thanks so very much Narendra ji, excellent write-up. I liked every but of it. I think the same way. I didn't compare FM signal quality of both D-109 and D-808 but yesterday I realised that on MW D-109 gave clear signal, more clear than D-808.
As far as R-108 is concerned, it's also a great Radio in its price ranges. I recommend it for SW/MW for anyone and for FM to those who live within 100-120 km radius of FM stations.
D-109 has the greatest advantage in terms of its sound and bass which D-808 lacks.

Rakesh ji, namaskar. Waise to FM reception, din mein aur raat mein ho ya kisi bhi season mein, ek jaisa ho chahiye. Par din mein shayad pollution aur sunrays ke interruption ke karan kamjor pad jata hai reception.

If indoor use and only FM is the priority then better to attach a RF amplifier circuit (signal booster) between the circuit board and antenna. It will boost the feeble FM signals to boost audible quality.
Companies generally doesn't use this external circuit, because after this modification, DSP circuit board may overload after external antenna.
In old analogue radios I have used many booster amplifier circuits and found a drastic change in FM reception.
Booster amplifier circuits can be constructed with one or two transistor stages and can be sodered in 1 to 1.5 inch piece of general purpose PCB. This piece of PCB can be stick in any suitable empty place in radio and can powered it with circuit board.
In olden days, television signal booster amplifiers were available for fringe areas when TV signals were transmitted by the low power transmitters. These booster amplifiers were connected between the TV antenna and television. Since they were wide band amplifiers, so worked well on FM frequencies as well as VHF TV frequency bands.
Now, there are various narrow band FM signal booster circuits are available on internet. (I was a big fan of circuit published in EFY magzines and constructed many of them).
Mainly one or two RF transistor such as BF 200 or C 2570 used in the circuit.

Modern Radios have all such amplifiers in-built, I don't feel any need of separate amplifiers as they will only add complexity and noise.
But for older Radios, these boosters can be a great option in my opinion.

Received 4 element yagi antenna today. It's damn big but not getting any gain with 808 and 109 would buy sangean wr 11 and will test again may be that would work better for me
How much did that Antenna cost you ? Actually it's a directional Antenna, you will have to take care of the small element of the Antenna, it should be in the direction of the FM station to be received.

Same with me on d 808. Inside home only local fm but on terrace it catches 3 more station which are far approx 60 km but still not catch any fm of more than 60-70 km.
I try daily in evening but still not getting any one.

Jab tak ye na pata ho ki disturbance kya hai, mujhe kya pata ki D-808 wahan FM pakdega ya nahin. Main to itna bata sakta hoon ki mere yahan 180 km door ke FM pakad leta hai asaani se, thoda kam reception ho to wire laga deta hoon.

Sir, I have bought xhdata d808 expecting that it would catch fm signal but there's no reception even after plugging in external antenna provided with the package, I am very upset. Please make a detailed video explaining what is SSB, Bandwidth, Meter, frequency etc. related to radio waves.
One more query sir xhdata d808 that I got, it's antenna is not rotating 360 degree!!
Anand ji, haha, upset na hon ji, take it easy. Aapke sabhi questions answer karta hoon:-
1. Jin topics par aap video banaane ki kah rahe hain, wo sab videos hain channel par, aap channel ke videos check to kijiye sahab.
2. D-808 ka Antenaa 360 degree rotatable hai. Aap thoda jor laga kar ghuma kar dekhiyega. Jyada jor mat lagayiyega, kahin too na jaaye.
3. Regarding FM reception. First thing, please check if your D-808 is in stereo FM mode. If that so, bring it in Mono mode. Second thing, how far is your FM stations that you are trying to catch ? And do you live in a big city near big buildings ?

Please suggest that should I return the radio or should I keep it?

IMO, the D-808 is a very good radio with high sensitivity & selectivity - Overall its an high performance radio. I suggest you checkout FM reception on another radio. If the other radio is able to pull-in any FM station (even if its very weak) but the D-808 can't, then you MIGHT like to request for a replacement. In case both radios cannot catch any FM station then not much can be done. Also, in case you are still keen on listening to FM, then I suggest you checkout Pravinder Sheoran's channel for a cheap DIY easy to make and construct FM Antenna. He has four videos uploaded on the subject.

@@aanand4172 ji, don't return it. It is a magical Radio. It is something you should keep with you whole life. Also, watch my video on FM Antennas. If made and adjusted properly, you may even catch the 400 km away FM signal (perhaps).
Without that Antenna, no Radio in this world can catch such a far away signal. Also, the weather currently in winters is not at all favourable for FM.

Amazon par thoda wait karein, shayad ye fir se sahi price mein aa jaaye. Agar Tecsun R-909 bhi sahi price mein aa jaaye to wo bhi le sakte hain. Par in dono ke liye bahut jyada paisa mat lagayiyega. Jiska price pahle down aa jaaye usako le lein.

Kamal ji, mera FM Antenna Eastward set hai. Aur shayad aap bhi usi side hain mujhse, agar waise nahin pakda to Antenna se pakad lega. Din mein dekhta hoon.
