- This restoration video has been a long time coming! I’ve teased and promised a tutorial for a year now, and I finally have some videography confidence to film it. This truly could’ve fit in any series I have under restoration. But I think it’s best placed in weird Barbie, because this doll is weird. It was a uniquely weird concept from the start. And how it aged solidified her as a Weird Barbie!
I hope this tutorial gives you the confidence you need in restoring your western Barbie. And you all can show me your restorations on my instagram account at Fallconary615. I’d love to see them!
Do NOT stress out if you do this restoration with me, you will do great, and your doll will look better if you follow the steps I took. You will need a steady hand, and this is not the easiest restoration to do, so please be kind to yourself during it. I believe you’ll do fantastic if you take your time!

WOW!!! She looks fabo!! You are seriously talented! I do have her and I'm going to have a go at doing this, my only issue is I tend to glue my fingers together when using super glue lol no lie I have become expert at removing it!! 😄
Haha well hopefully it’s worth it in the end. I always get super glue on my fingers too. Never fails lol
This is so great, as I had her as a kid (and OK, she was not my favourite, but I was so intrigued by the winking mechanism even back then. And yes, I eventually had to take off her 'mask' from her head to see what was underneath... which actually kinda horrified me at the time! LOL) and have been tempted for years to get one for my collection, but they all look like they've just had a really bad stroke! LOL So of course, I would want to try to fix those eyelids and didn't know where to start with that, so thanks for posting this! I just may get one now!
Aww thank you!! I’m always curious to know how she looked new. Because there’s no way they released her looking as she does now when you find her.lol was she always a weird looking doll? Or did she actually look semi pretty? I’d love to see what you do with your doll!! I have every 80s barbie released as I’m quite the collector of 80s and 90s Barbie. But this doll is one I have refused to buy, other than the European busy hands western barbie (basically has the superstar Barbie head) anyway, your video has really made me reconsider and I might now pick up one just to restore her.
Aww I hope it did! Because you can do this too! With a doll like western barbie, you can’t really go wrong because she’s not a cute doll. So any improvement will automatically make her look better!

Howdy!!! You are extremely talented!!!! You see, western Barbie was a doll I grew up playing with. My neighbor Jill owned her and I owned Dallas and the swaggy western Ken. Together we had the perfect trifecta. So, I’ve never seen a wonky western Barbie only the brand spanking new one. The doll you restored is beyond perfection. 👏👏
Second, it was nice to see you in today’s video. You are Barbie!!!!!! You definitely could have played Barbie in the 🍿 movie. I love your blonde hair! I am also a blonde. I could play Barbie’s Grandma. 😂 I know you told me that you do your own hair as well. I LOVE being blonde but the horrific part is that the dark roots show up so quickly. 👎 I however would never attempt to color my own hair for fear I’d turn into weird Barbie. 😮

Thank you! At that time they were all about gimmicks, and apparently this was the winning gimmick. They reused kissing Barbie’s body and plastic skull, and altered it a bit, and made her wink. But to me, even in the promotional photos of her at that time, I think she’s just ugly compared to the new 1980 golden dream Barbie released the same year. But apparently she sold well. I’ve found her several times!

I love watching your videos. Also I started to attempt to fix my western barbie's eyes too...I might try your method when I'm feeling brave lol. Anyway, I noticed that ALL OF MY 80s BLONDE BARBIES have the same exact BRASSY strawberry blonde-ish color hair now. Is there a way to remove the brassy tone? I know they didn't have that white blonde 90s color...but i think time has given then all brass blonde. Purple shampoo? Any tips would be great...thank you and can't wait to see more of your videos
You can do it! I have faith in you:) also I’ve been working on that. But unless they’re kanekalon, the purple shampoo doesn’t do much. I’ve even tried peroxide, as it removes stains from plastic, but that didn’t really give me stellar results either. I’ll keep working on it and maybe I’ll think of something!!
@@disneybarbiegirl615 I wonder if denture tabs would penetrate the plastic hair??? I mean dentures are plastic, and denture tabs whiten...right???? Or do they just clean. I tried purple shampoo b4 I saw your response. It's just weird bc I put all my 80s Barbies in a line for inventory, and their hair is all the same color...bronze strawberry blonde lol. Not bad, but if I recall...their hair was lighter at one point. Thanks for responding. If I unlock a hack....I'll let you know
@@craftsbygz you know anything is possible!! All we can do is try! I would wager it’s just the showing of age as they go into a strawberry blonde. I’ve seen variations that were lighter, but for when I’ve seen them it tends to be their color. But I wasn’t around when they were new, so I bet they looked even more fantastic! Let me know what happens!!

Fun Fact Western Barbie & Pink N Pretty , Both dolls came with the same Blue Brush, Comb , Mirror ,perfume bottle set .
i was lucky to find the autograph cardboard photos set that my doll didn't come with
And a friend from Europe sent me a long white skirt that turns her white jumpsuit into a dress .
the skirt originally came with the Europe version that had a superstar barbie face and Busy hands .
Thanks for sharing!! I like the busy hands version too. Would’ve been cool to get her in the states also, but western Barbie was a good enough seller I imagine. Especially with how many variations she has!
