My steering lock is ok. Used your method to start the motor. Made some test leads for multi meter. Using male spade connectors, crimped to multi meter leads. Went across 85-86 relay coil pin inserts. Established 12v. Somehow it rebooted the computer. Motor now starts using the key. Thank you. Your information is gold.
@@rossyndosi2845 Don’t know if you have a damaged steering lock. Mine wasn’t. Green relay in relay panel under the hood is the starter relay. My motor was dead. I took the green cap off the relay. Turned the key so all dash lights were on. Ge gentle. Use a pen or similar to hold the relay closed. Motor started. After a few minutes of running, the computer came back. That was a year ago. Not one issue sinse. Good luck

I'm calling a company today that have all 3 parts for $280.00. I need to see if they are already programmed. Because the Windows doesn't roll down and you have to go under the hood to start. I can keep doing that and my wife Wants to drive it too.

You need to put the on third position, take the fuse out, put it in and the you go to second position, you put back on third position and then you try to start but not more then 3 sec

I have changed already the ESL motor and also the battery car and everything was working again well from 1-2 years but now my W204 has a new problem, when I take off the key sometimes it doesn’t lock the steering wheel and so when I put back the key inside I can’t start up. This happened sometimes I had to wait 2-3 second for the steering lock to lock again and it’s only when I take off the key. I replaced all the fuses that were associated with the starter fuse# 6, 7,19, and 27 and tried to do the wire trick again and it still won't start. The fuses didn't look burned but I replaced them anyway. I desperately need help, I can't make it to work without my car because I work 400 miles away

This is not a solution to unlock ESL, this is solution when ESL stopped working in a unlocked Position than how to start the car to move it to your garage. To unlock defective ESL you need to remove the steering column

When ESL is locked, you must dismantle complete steering column !!! 1. Remove steering Wheel. 2. Disconect cables from MRM module. 3 Remove 4 screws holding the steering column and take it complete outside. Than you will see the ESL better. 4. Cut the ESL housing in way which you will be able to turn the big gearwheel into unlocked position. When ESL in unlocked position you will be able to remove screw and take out from steering column.
First you need to remove it. When relay contacts are up you will see on left and right side teeth which are holding the hosing of the relay. You need small screwdriver to release those teeth and housing will slide down and relay is opened.

these motors is crap, its probably burned again. Code a simulator for the car instead - any locksmith dealing with Mercedes can help you

Servo direction is not connected with steering lock. After starting the car everything works normal and no any faults displayed on dashboard

no ESL have defective motor and therefore can not move and unlock. Must remove steering column than remove ESL and then install emuator
