Great Helms Deep can't wait to play it. One suggestion: Implement a Cloudbreak when the Rohirrim arrive or 10 seconds after they started charging for the more movie like experience and extra toughness :D

Really appreciate all the support this patch is receiving, it's nice to see developers give life back to old games. I'm probably not in the majority here but, if I can share my opinion, i'd love to see the new heroes in multiplayer added one at the time, maybe giving a month delay between releases. This would allow developers to focus on one hero at a time and make it easier to fix balance issues as the heroes are introduced, as opposed to balance everything at the end which most times proves to be deeply challenging. Releasing them separately would also generate more hype about the releases and the game in general in my opinion.
I just want the 2.22 evil campaign to give incentive to play as Mordor. Mordor's monsters die way too easily to upgraded battalions, and their advantage of superior Powers is null in the campaign, where all evil powers are conjoined together.
I like the sensation of rpg of using trolls to lvl up and change their skin. I think bftme 1 trolls are not meant to play in a campaign, just pvp/skirmish. But man at least change the running animation ffs! too slow!

Amazing mission and big fan of the changes! Glad the additional heroes are being added too, I had always wondered why they weren’t in the original game.
I also the evil faction should have had more hero’s, gothmog and sharku for sure and maybe even have the Nazgûl start on horseback (black riders) before unlocking the ability to ride a fellbeast at level 10
You can actually cut out voices from movies by Hz selection:
"The frequency range of human hearing is from approximately 20 to 20,000 Hz. The frequencies that can be produced by human vocalizations is said to range from about 80 Hz at the low end to about 11,000 Hz at the high end, but generally the human voice ranges between 100 and 4000 Hz. Of this range, frequencies between 2000 and 4000 Hz are the easiest for humans to perceive audibly, and this range includes the sound of a baby crying, a woman screaming, and the warning alarm of an electrical appliance. After about 75 years of age, on average humans can only hear up to about 5000-6000 Hz, and so this study focuses on the frequency range from 0 to 4500 Hz, on the assumption that filmmakers produce movies aimed at people of all ages."
If you use a sound filter, 4000 Hz if I remember correctly (surely, the parameter can be different for various movies/scenes), you should cut off all the other sounds and only voices will remain. We did this in high school as a project.

This mission has been immensely frustrating for me. the rams and ladders get vaporized instantly by the wall of leadership booster rank 4 flaming arrow archers…
Massively overtuned. My army just gets Thanos snapped past war chant and tainted land bonuses
There was also no foreshadowing that I would immediately lose if the mines get destroyed
Let's be honest there is nothing to compare patch 2.22 has a difficult campaign even with strong army and everything from spellbook. Classic Walk through in campaign (patch 1.06 or Elven alliance was basically a walk in the park). In patch 1.06 in Minas I managed to save the gate and didn't need Rohan and oathbreakers
I find the main difficulty for me on the good version of this mission, comes from all the enemy crossbows, they will kill all my defenders when enough gather up, melt my heroes etc. I hope follow up patches can mitigate this abit, the fun comes from the siege aspect not from lots and lots of crossbow enemies killing the defenders from a distance.
I put mines where Eomer arrives and blow them up the moment army enters the screen.
I loved the entry of eomer and gandalf. Hats off!
Maybe you can add cutscene for theoden in minas tirith too. It would be really awesome.
Also a real full speech of aragorn in black gate mission.
what if gandalf and eomer rohirrims are almost invencible? so you will have X time to win before that. The idea is not to wait until reinforcements (like good campaing) but to smash fast..
Good to see it's becoming more difficult! I used to do campaign runs where I would put restrictions on myself to make it harder, like I would not build ranged units or something. Still pretty easy for Evil campaign. Good campaign is very hard without ranged units because of Minas Tirith.
How else do you kill a Mumakil if you don't have ranged units? Do you just save your hero abilities for them?
@@DanglesPaintball Hero abilities and Tower Guards. Tower Guards do very good damage against Mumakil. In fact Tower Guards are key to beating Minas Tirith without ranged units. Mumakil aren't even the hard part, Trolls are. Because without ranged units you can't stop them from eventually destroying your gate and getting inside. Tower Guards actually do good damage against Trolls so they're pretty much your only option.

WOW! New Helms Deep for evil looks amazing.
Would love to see the addition of Gothmog, Sharku and Beregond or Denethor. And maybe you could give Eowyn a buff for peasants so she would be a bit more usefull. Haldir would also be cool to have but Rohan already has so many Heros. Maybe just for the missions Loth Lorien and Helms Deep?
Another idea may be to add another mission like the elven mission for Lorien just for Mirkwood and for evil maybe a mission with Haradrim only. I think both could be fun.
Absolutely loving all of these changes. I wonder if it's possible to cheese Rohan reinforcements with mines at their spawn point, since the rohirrim archers have fire arrows. If so that may need to be fixed.
Looks pretty fun!! I liked the harder good campaign too, the challenge gave me some headaches, but looking back that is way moore fun! Actually in the evil campaign I really did not feel like I won after Minas Tirith. For example, even tho Isengard wins against Rohan, I never understood, why cant I send that army against Lothlorien, beacause the map always existed in the good campaign, also the last big elven capitals isstill standing, it felt like a fun oppurtunity missed. Looking back I never liked that Isengard can't come as a reinforcement against Minas Tirith, felt like after helms deep I completly lose that army. I'm loveing the changes so far!! New hero ideas seems really fun too, really looking forward for it!

I like what you are trying to do, however I think that the ballista should be available before the mine.
Instead of disabling certain Siege units, you can also limit them. Its easily done, just have to add " MaxSimultaneousOfType = 4" in the hordes.ini for the Isengard faction for the BatteringRam. So you could only construct 4 Ballistas. Or change it in the map.ini so it only affects playing on this map, but im not experienced in that. Changing it in the hordes.ini makes it universal. Its limited on all Maps to just 4. Just a little input, coz we did saw Isengard use Ballistas in siege of Helms Deep. Would be a shame to leave it out.

I feel like the ending looked a bit steamroll-y. Not sure if it is possible, but scripted retreat from the enemy could recreate the hopeless feeling of the siege, and allow the enemy to take better use of the fountains.
I'd also like to see you start with several ladders, mostly for the aesthetic.

please tell me how you got your units so high?? either you absolutely nerfed xp or you know something i don't cause getting more than maybe 2 levels is almost impossible per level. unless you spend 5 hours on one mission to kill your own units which gives 1% bar, which i'm not going to do.
- my units walking up to that wall just die. lvl 7 heavy armor and buffed, so getting the one mine in is an absolute chore. i lost once cause i tried to use them vs the horses. but you instantly lose when you use them ???
-sarumans fireball isn't fire anymore?
- and because you made every unit individual command points as it seems your units now cannot ever reinforce if you ever summon your second army to help. so now i cannot use my high levle units cause i will lose them potentially but i also can't summon new ones. that is awfull

Thank you for another great video! I tried playing evil campaign on patch 2.22 and it was really zoomed and I couldn't zoom out. Have you encountered similar issue? Do you know how to avoid it?

Is it even possible to beat all the bonus objectives in this mission on hard? Crushing the defenders before eomers army seems insanely hard. I’ve tried multiple different ways and just can’t figure it out

What if (if possible) enable a script that keeps recruiting peasants and/or riders from the halls of the fortress after the enemy reinforcements have been dealt with?

Honestly its not overwhelming just poor micro sitting on 50k is always bad, in any RTS game. Yea CP is low, but nothing stops you from having 6 urukpits and spamming units on raiding. Just saying in general about RTS games.

In the films, evil doesn't win either... So removing siege weapons to make it more like the films doesn't really make sense to me
I understand trying to make the mission harder, but arbitrarily gimping the roster just doesn't seem very fun. Surely there are other ways around it.
I saw people playing it the boring way by killing all enemy units with the balistas and not even engaging for a fight, that takes away so much from the potential of this mission and siege weapons are kust way too strong even vs units and heroes
