Thank you!
I°m 71 years old and lived a similar kind of life to you, I want to give you a friendly word of advice. Stop for a few minutes and take stock of your dreams and reset a few of them, age is not on your side and believe me it is a hell of a disappointment when you find out you can't do it anymore and there's so much to do, I beg you, scale down and all of us would rather see you succeed on a smaller scale than failing at an impossible dream, greets from south africa
Yep I’m 54 health not on my side I’ve had to scale down.
No problem in having organised projects leave some for the next passionate guy to do.
I agree and by no means am trying to put Allen down. There is no way he will ever finish all the projects he has. I have a friend just like this. Endless half done projects. It's a mental problem. They can't sell anything. Oh I am going to finish that next month and never do.
It’s not about a destination sometimes but the journey. Alan is a trip….literally
It's a mental illness. He's a hoarder and dreamer. He is living his dream and not hurting anyone so who cares what he does.
It is true, in reality Alan's son will be the one who ends up with all this stuff and will have to decide what ends up happening to it
One man's junk is another man's ( Allen) TREASURES. Saving history and has dreams of what he can make and use for 😊
As a Nam vet I wanted to let you know in 73 we were still in Nam and those leaflet bombs were used to warn civilians of carpet bombing to come the next day!! And the Korean War was 1950-to ‘53..
Thank You and God Bless you for your Service.
73 was the tail end of the Vietnam war. The Korean war was in the early 50s.
1973, the Vietnam War was winding down...
Looks like Alan could really use a rock crusher, he could make himself some really nice non muddy driveways. 😊
You never know, he might actually have one somewhere in all that.
'73 the Vietnam War was wrapping up.
Those leaflet bombs were used to warn civilians in a given area that a bombing run was about to take place the next day.
As you know carpet bombing is indiscriminate
It was to give them humanitarian chance to run like hell
my dad stayed in veitnam till about 76-77 so yea 73 would have been the tail end of vietnam
@@sen3990
No troops were in Vietnam after 1975. The Communist had full control of South Vietnam by then.
@@sen3990Vietnam fell on April 30th 1975. If he was an 'Merican and still there after that day he was certainly left for dead so I doubt he was there into 76'-77'. Regardless, I thank him for his service.
I was going to say basically the same thing. Hard to believe but it seems like there's not a lot of us left who remember those times.
On March 29, 1973 the last US Combat Troops pulled out of Vietnam which was two months after signing the Vietnam Piece Agreement. 7,000 US DOD Civilians stayed behind until they were airlifted out on April 30, 1975 as Saigon fell. General Charles de Gaulle was right when he warned that if you go there you'll be sorry.
How quickly we forget such recent history. I was A1 at the time and somehow never was called. Friends who were called and ended up there advised to count your blessings if not called and don't volunteer for this one. They were very happy to have someone waiting to welcome them back and help them back into civilian life without all the stigma and shame some threw at them. Too many have developed Parkinson's and Essential Tremor type illnesses from the Agent Orange and other defoliants used there, even those stationed on carriers out well offshore, since the desalinization plants on the ships weren't able to filter it out, ended up so they were washing, etc with water contaminated with Agent Orange from the rivers that emptied out in those areas. Often traditional treatments don't work with their only relief being if they are a good candidate for being implanted with a microchip in their brains with a long wire to a battery implanted in their chests. These boys now in their 60's and 70's are still dealing with the impacts of having been in Vietnam. I never would have thought that today all these years later that I'd still be helping them cope with having been in Vietnam.
My Dad when being deployed as a Jungle Raider on Japanese held islands during the Second World War would sometimes be somewhat covertly dropped from the bomb bay with the leaflet bombs which exploded to distribute their contents and said you could get pretty badly banged up by them even before they blew if you weren't careful and your timing was off. Many today don't realize what these infantry men who were widowers with no dependent children at the time went through after being assigned as Jungle Raiders and got their attachments to the Airborne Rangers and Silent Service along with placement as Specialist to assist a Marine Squad. Dad was placed with the Cobra Marine Squad. They were often just listed in the official reports without being named and just referenced as something like "with the assistance of Army Specialists from the 182d Infantry" even though it was One Ranger against the entire base/occupied island.
Note that in April 2024 they found more unexploded leaflet bombs on the Hawaiian and Marshal Islands and have deployed teams to disarm them since even after all this time even a leaflet bomb can still maim and kill you if it goes off.
Best!
Korean war was back in the 50s my brother. It began in June 1950 when North Korea invaded South Korea and ceased after an armistice in July 1953. Dad was in both WWII and Korea. Brother went to Vietnam in around 68.
I was in the Air Force, 3rd Mobile Communications Group from 70 -73. We had some communications shelters similar to your two. Ours were mounted on Jeep pickups.
Those shelters make good ham radio shacks.
Great video Al! Looking forward to the earth bunker construction and then the vehicle restoration
Wizard, you have inspired me to make my life better !
I’m so happy how yr channel has taken off and grow, u deserve it the knowledge u have learned over the years and u share it all with yr subs 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼
How about selling most of those vehicles and bunch of scrap. That could be a nice bump into the budget of building the fortress.
He will never give up any of this stuff I think he would rather let it rot then sell it and let someone else get any joy from one of these vehicles. This is hoarding at an all new level.
He's going to fix it up and use all of that someday.
@@MichaelSmith-jv7zm thats what they allways say. But there is so much stuff, that one mans life time is not enough to fix those.
Love your life Alan you have such a Magical place. Think I could sit on top of your Mountain and just look at the View for weeks. Respect to you from Cornwall uk
That old 4 door Dodge with the tool compartments on the bed looks so much like my Daddy’s work truck. He was a heavy duty diesel mechanic for 53 years. He started out in the Navy when he was just 17 years old during WWII.
Sounds like with all that mud you need tons and tons of gravel. I think the weather has been killing all of us this Spring!
@MtnFortressLabs3 Why?
Minecraft building materials 😂 living every kids dream keep it up Allen!! Totally wizard!! 🧙♂️
Yeah, but he needs to grow up and start dealing with that hoarders paradise instead of keep piling up projects he can never get to! Somebody has to deal with that junkyard when he's gone, and he won't even have a finished house on the property when that happens!
Can't wait to see the ground level underground entrance to the fortress!
I always click "like" your videos before I even watch! Love seeing your progress. Your a pretty amazing guy. Bustin your butt. Working so hard. And keeping an amazing attitude, despite some major setbacks! We all want to keep watching until you and your family are living in the castle! And then keep watching after that! Thanks for inspiring all of us to work hard on our dreams. No matter what they are! And inspiring us all to keep on going in this life! We may not all be building a castle. But you still inspire us all! No matter what our dreams are! I know you will get that castle done. And remember. The journey is just as important as the ending!!! Says this almost old guy at 61 years old! Ha-ha! What I would give to be 21 years younger! Sincerely, Jim Gillespie Reno, NV. :)
Love to see a video or series about your back story!! You are now internet famous and an awesome story as of now! Keep that thought in mind!! Keep up all the awesome work!
Treasure is a bit of an understatement. Between all the cool military stuff and Alan referencing Minecraft, I don't "treasure" is enough of a word.
That whole project is coming along quite well, aside from the rain
Alan making a casual minecraft reference 😄
I always make it a point to watch what is going on in Utah when I see you have a new video!
Can’t wait to see the building being built. Keep up the great work but please find some time to enjoy life.
Love all of your Dodge trucks. Thank you for saving them.
0:49 .. The factory boys will watch videos of the Sany in action, and go over it with a fine tooth comb, looking ware points etc, ... and do improvements for the next model, .. even little things like shorten or lengthen hoses to reduce wear, or alter pivot angles for more power etc etc.
You can BET Dave made a SUPER deal! :) ... Can't wait to see what's up next!!
Wanna get that POCLAIN up at the mountain Alan👍 No hour restrictions on that 😁🙋♂️
June 1973. I graduated high school. The Vietnam draft was ended the month before. I came of age for draft 5 months later. But 20 years / a generation after the Korean War my dad fought in. In June 73 some people I knew were in 'Nam. 3 or 4 were jarheads. The rest army draftees. My brother had just finished his 3 year enlistment tour in the army after spending most of it in Germany. 1st Armored Division. Ground Support Artillery Radar Maintenance. Using communication modules like your 880 series, but way bigger mounted in the bed of deuce an 1/2s.
You're making big progress. Kinda taking a sabatical on the fortress to get some things done down below, huh? Hell of a lot of work sorting through your inventory and relocating it to make room for earth work and prepping to build a workshop. But big changes since last view.
Seems the next job after the shop is a "final" re-arrange. Then maybe some work widening the road to the top so you can get a deuce an 1/2 up the hill with water or whatever.
I see from towards the end of the vid that some of the commenters a while back were right. You need better drainage in that platform before you build you storage bunker/shop or much of anything else. You've done a nice job levelling it out. Maybe too nice as it holds water instead of letting it drain off. Just needs a few inches per 100ft. Drain to channel that then diverts water off the end and away from your road.
- The leaflet bomb, 'll make a fun prop when your fortress is needing personality. Will look awesome...so many props around. Great collecting, now for handing it shelter and preserve it correctly. Well done going through these steps now. Keep on it! Because how many stuff can a man get back on track, there is only so much time. :)
those leaflet bombs are very interesting, wonder if they are still full ......
Remember in HeavyD's channel, i think in the episode were they helped him clean up the top burnt shed... Jokingly Disel Dave asked him what else he had in there, and he said the two boys that were droped on nagasaki and hirosima... Now that he found the leaflet bombs... i am starting to suspect he might actually have their protoypes or even more bombs xDDD
I would not be surprised if half his mountain is littered with mines xD Atleast put a fake "minefield" sign, and i am 100% sure no trespasser will ever apporch this compound :D Even authoritys will first call you up and ask for navigation throught the field ^_^
As someone who enjoyed making “junk yards” with all my model cars as a kid in early 80’s, watching your tour of all the stuff is very satisfying.
Yeah, that's every child's dream junk yard, but that's a grown man who needs to get his act together. Maybe finish the house on the property before turning it into a junk yard!
Why am I not surprised that Alan has a crate of military leaflet bombs.....?
About Time Mr.Wizard Those Lazy Boulder's got to Work just laying around and collecting dust like they done Something!!!😅
You are doing an awesome thing. Creating order in chaos. Sir,....I like it. Keep on it! A collecting man is fine, but collecting and not correctly storing things, is a loss to any value. So well done, keep on rocking Sir!
You have a heart of gold. impressive what you teach us.
Thank you, Alan. Now you know where to "drain" the lake, and make some drainage of the area.
Good to see you, and God bless.
Thanks Allen for sharing the progress!! Mt fortress is coming along very nicely 👌🏻
Couldn't you do some sort of deal and have some volunteer workers come out and you just delegate the work out to them. It just seems to me that you need more body's on the ground to get some stuff done. Other than that Alan I think you're doing great. I've just finished a restoration job on a 1978 Yamaha bike I had for 25 years. So I know the feeling of not wanting to let go of some things. Nothing on your scale though, your one epic dude , who ain't got defeat or give up in your vocabulary 👍
Apart from watching the progress on the fortures , I'm looking forward to these restorations on the different trucks. Always satisfying to see something that's been put away for a long time being put back in working order, piece by piece. One of those big military trucks would also be fun to watch being restored. Perhaps in such good working order Mr Wizard can take on some jobs here there. That would be cool to see. Great video! Keep on going!😀
I would enjoy that as well since he seems to just know what to do when he’s working on an engine. He needs to pick one and just focus on that until it is done.
Alan, you are such an inspiration. I deeply admire your attitute and work ethichs. I wish you would sort in your projects though, or at least keep the special one's sheltered.
You are hilarious to watch, special and amazing in your own funny way. Hope I can visit you some day. All the best, will keep following your progress.
What are you talking about? His work ETHIC is poor, whole videos here where he spends a day moving less than a pallet of block! Yeah he is entertaining, but let's not stretch the truth trying to kiss butt!
@AR-ed3xw lol... OK
I enjoy your personal videos and the ones you do with Dave Sparks team, you are an awesome part of that team. ❤
Looking good Man! So many awesome pieces of History ya got there. Love them Old Dodge's
Hi Allen, That's a fair amount of progress 👏. I love the old dodge trucks. Looking forward to seeing the next video ❤
What progress? Digging down too deep and making mud holes? Yeah great job with the mud allen!
They look like power wagons. I did love the old power wagon from the 70s.
Great video, your treasures are awesome to see.
Great update Alan, good to see how far on you are you sure have some work to do but what a fantastic fortress and work area your going to have.💚🙏🏻🇬🇧
Keep up the good work Alan you're doing great God bless you sir
a fully complete fortress with these trucks as part of the landscaping surrounding the fortress will look mint! UlTIMATE man pad.
Shame Dave couldn't make a series and help slingshot the progress along like last time, that was great content.
The problem with that is Alan won’t give up anything in his collection or sell off anything to fund the finishing of his fortress. He will never complete his dream with all this hoarding h s just wandering around getting nothing done. Hundreds of vehicles and he can’t get one of them running good enough to make a daily driver.
Coming along nicely Alan and Les
I injo seeing everything you show us. I love anything that has to do with the fortresses.
So Interesting... everything that you have going on at your mtnfortress and down the hill at your depot. I love ur channel Mr alan. Keep up the good content and hard work. Stay safe.
"I wanna get another vehicle" says the man that has hundreds of vehicles just strewn about.
Thank you for the updates. Its interesting to some of us to see. Just to see work going on is nice to see and interesting its self.
Well done Allen great to see you back
Wow great work Al 💯👌👍
Sparks should give you a truck for all that you do for him
Great job Allen! Lots of work! Have to snooze now!
It is satisfying to see you making so much headway in the depot. I'm hoping you do the same in the fortress. Best of luck. ❤️👍🇺🇲
hi alan. love your work. missed up on a good bit of your show my laptop broke.. great to see how far yoy have gotten...
U have a lifetime worth the content. I would watch u work on your stuff every day. I’m still waiting for u to do a full walk through and show all your cool shit.
Sorry to be blunt, BUT finally 🎉🎉🎉 Love the content. Missed you video's Thanks Alan
Another great video!! ... I wish lived close by .. I'd be over doing one of the projets you need done! .. I'm retired now and miss working on stuff! :)
Looks like you need a big garage sale
Pretty good picture of the Mountains very pretty
You've done good Allen be safe brother
lot of good work, great job.
I would love such a place where i just find stuff i forgot about in the years. Like a kid in a candystore.
I will be glad to see new videos whenever you come back out with them. Some people have given you some great advice about getting older.
Looking good!
Keep on keeping on!
My first car was a 73 dodge truck (gas tank behind seat) and have always liked that era truck
Holy Cow! Good job Alan! (and Les)
I’d love to see you driving around in that blue stepside. Sweet truck!
I love those power wagons
It's mud season in Utah. Sprinter. Suppose to rain/snow this week.
Looking great man!!
Alan, The earth bunker sounds Great and will you use some of those bigger Rocks on it.
?
Very Cool update as you are waiting for the weather and the Sanny to allow for more fortress prep this year
You have some awesome stuff
Thanks for sharing
was that a 74 blazer, with a top!!!!! amazing stuff!!!
Loving your videos Wizard
Sany. Hey Wiz, you have the most antique equipment to keep u buzy!
Thank you
❤ You're making progress.
Man i love this channel
thanks for the Tour.....
love your videos. fantastic
Good luck I drove one of the old m1038 chevys
Looking forward to the next one 🎉🎉🎉
Alan I live in South Florida near Fort Lauderdale and I enjoyed seeing your videos when you're on property also really curious about the history about all the stuff you have on your property specially all those trucks rotting away on your property??
You could do with a crusher n screener and sort some clean stone
Looks like a nice yard, are you living in that camper? Woul be happy to see that little workshop you have there to....
There's nothing wrong with dreaming. Especially when you don't have that many years left to live to finish your projects.
Hi Al, those rims you went by at the end of your video, are those for M-151's?
Put in a french drain to daylight along the new area. Be a great project to watch you do and you'll be able to get back to work quicker after a storm.
1973, might have been the Vietnam conflict, Alan…
Check your control valve orifices and such on the JD. I've seen a chip of some various crap in the system get stuck and only allow partial flow though
Love your set up can you do a story on your fortress When you got it and the story behind it all and do you have pic of the start and process ? It would take sometime to put a story together but it would be sweet. I know you lots a lot of stuff in the fire 🔥. You are amazing in your faith and dreams . That will be a historical site someday 😊. And talked about for generations.
Thanks for the video
Dude, Allen… how do you do all that??? Not to mention having to do it multiple times from fires etc. you are amazing
