I°m 71 years old and lived a similar kind of life to you, I want to give you a friendly word of advice. Stop for a few minutes and take stock of your dreams and reset a few of them, age is not on your side and believe me it is a hell of a disappointment when you find out you can't do it anymore and there's so much to do, I beg you, scale down and all of us would rather see you succeed on a smaller scale than failing at an impossible dream, greets from south africa

I agree and by no means am trying to put Allen down. There is no way he will ever finish all the projects he has. I have a friend just like this. Endless half done projects. It's a mental problem. They can't sell anything. Oh I am going to finish that next month and never do.

Those leaflet bombs were used to warn civilians in a given area that a bombing run was about to take place the next day.
As you know carpet bombing is indiscriminate
It was to give them humanitarian chance to run like hell

On March 29, 1973 the last US Combat Troops pulled out of Vietnam which was two months after signing the Vietnam Piece Agreement. 7,000 US DOD Civilians stayed behind until they were airlifted out on April 30, 1975 as Saigon fell. General Charles de Gaulle was right when he warned that if you go there you'll be sorry.
How quickly we forget such recent history. I was A1 at the time and somehow never was called. Friends who were called and ended up there advised to count your blessings if not called and don't volunteer for this one. They were very happy to have someone waiting to welcome them back and help them back into civilian life without all the stigma and shame some threw at them. Too many have developed Parkinson's and Essential Tremor type illnesses from the Agent Orange and other defoliants used there, even those stationed on carriers out well offshore, since the desalinization plants on the ships weren't able to filter it out, ended up so they were washing, etc with water contaminated with Agent Orange from the rivers that emptied out in those areas. Often traditional treatments don't work with their only relief being if they are a good candidate for being implanted with a microchip in their brains with a long wire to a battery implanted in their chests. These boys now in their 60's and 70's are still dealing with the impacts of having been in Vietnam. I never would have thought that today all these years later that I'd still be helping them cope with having been in Vietnam.
My Dad when being deployed as a Jungle Raider on Japanese held islands during the Second World War would sometimes be somewhat covertly dropped from the bomb bay with the leaflet bombs which exploded to distribute their contents and said you could get pretty badly banged up by them even before they blew if you weren't careful and your timing was off. Many today don't realize what these infantry men who were widowers with no dependent children at the time went through after being assigned as Jungle Raiders and got their attachments to the Airborne Rangers and Silent Service along with placement as Specialist to assist a Marine Squad. Dad was placed with the Cobra Marine Squad. They were often just listed in the official reports without being named and just referenced as something like "with the assistance of Army Specialists from the 182d Infantry" even though it was One Ranger against the entire base/occupied island.
Note that in April 2024 they found more unexploded leaflet bombs on the Hawaiian and Marshal Islands and have deployed teams to disarm them since even after all this time even a leaflet bomb can still maim and kill you if it goes off.
      Best!

June 1973. I graduated high school. The Vietnam draft was ended the month before. I came of age for draft 5 months later. But 20 years / a generation after the Korean War my dad fought in. In June 73 some people I knew were in 'Nam. 3 or 4 were jarheads. The rest army draftees. My brother had just finished his 3 year enlistment tour in the army after spending most of it in Germany. 1st Armored Division. Ground Support Artillery Radar Maintenance. Using communication modules like your 880 series, but way bigger mounted in the bed of deuce an 1/2s.
You're making big progress. Kinda taking a sabatical on the fortress to get some things done down below, huh? Hell of a lot of work sorting through your inventory and relocating it to make room for earth work and prepping to build a workshop. But big changes since last view.
Seems the next job after the shop is a "final" re-arrange. Then maybe some work widening the road to the top so you can get a deuce an 1/2 up the hill with water or whatever.
I see from towards the end of the vid that some of the commenters a while back were right. You need better drainage in that platform before you build you storage bunker/shop or much of anything else. You've done a nice job levelling it out. Maybe too nice as it holds water instead of letting it drain off. Just needs a few inches per 100ft. Drain to channel that then diverts water off the end and away from your road.

Jokingly Disel Dave asked him what else he had in there, and he said the two boys that were droped on nagasaki and hirosima... Now that he found the leaflet bombs... i am starting to suspect he might actually have their protoypes or even more bombs xDDD
I would not be surprised if half his mountain is littered with mines xD Atleast put a fake "minefield" sign, and i am 100% sure no trespasser will ever apporch this compound :D Even authoritys will first call you up and ask for navigation throught the field ^_^

Alan I live in South Florida near Fort Lauderdale and I enjoyed seeing your videos when you're on property also really curious about the history about all the stuff you have on your property specially all those trucks rotting away on your property??

There's nothing wrong with dreaming. Especially when you don't have that many years left to live to finish your projects.

Hi Al, those rims you went by at the end of your video, are those for M-151's?

Put in a french drain to daylight along the new area. Be a great project to watch you do and you'll be able to get back to work quicker after a storm.

Check your control valve orifices and such on the JD. I've seen a chip of some various crap in the system get stuck and only allow partial flow though

Love your set up can you do a story on your fortress When you got it and the story behind it all and do you have pic of the start and process ? It would take sometime to put a story together but it would be sweet. I know you lots a lot of stuff in the fire 🔥. You are amazing in your faith and dreams . That will be a historical site someday 😊. And talked about for generations.
