- In this video I discuss how horrible the production and promotion was for Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou. I also compare the UFC and how they run their show to different boxing promotions. I compare press conferences, promotion of undercards, production and more. What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments.

Same with one, bareknuckle and bellator. Ufc really the only fighting platform to watch.
This wasn't your average boxing event, this was a Saudi spectacle to promote their country. The concerts and all the time wasting between fights is unacceptable in any regular boxing event of course.
@@YouAintGotNoTegridyBoiexactly, this was a circus. It ain't always like that, but the robbery bs need to stop
In MMA, you could have 10 fights and be regarded as an exciting up and coming talent that needs to be marketed. In boxing, you could be 30-0 and no one has a clue who you are whilst still continuing to fight on mediocre undercards.

One thing everyone should be able to agree on, the undercards are an objective severe downgrade in boxing. Even just last week, we saw what happens when a main event falls through in the UFC. The co-main takes up the main event slot and fills the void with EASE. In boxing, when the main event goes, the whole card sinks.
The undercard for that fight was good but I guess you didn't know who you were watching.

The promoters are too involved.
Too much emphasis on being undefeated.
Not enough stars in boxing.

One of the biggest boxing failures is they fail to build any prospects. The UFC excels at that. Bo Nickal, Mohammad Mokaev, Umar Nurmagomedov. Boxing itself is a beautiful sport, but the politics ruin it so much
As a dude who prefers watching boxing over mma Lucas is 100% correct. Boxing is so stuck in the stone ages with promotion its actually embarrassing, if they want to actually succeed 20+ years from now they need to do something ASAP, even though boxing does better numbers than the ufc(excluding mcgregor of course)how many of those dudes are old heads who won't be here in 30 years? The UFC has been killing it with promotion the past couple years and I guarantee if you ask a group of 20 year olds about top mma fighters, they would probably know about them more than top boxers. It's actually sad cause when the best fight the best it's really a beautiful sport.
You clearly don't watch a lot of boxing if you think all of boxing is in the stone ages with promotion when Canelo and AJ are massive superstars even with their setbacks. MMA has been struggling more lately than boxing due to many big fights not happening (it's main advantage over boxing) yet this one event happens and suddenly that's all been reversed. Being a tad emotional about it now.

My friend is a professional boxer, and what you say about the event dragging on forever is exactly correct. The start will be delayed by an hour, there will be 30 minutes between each fight, there will be an 1.5 hour intermission for some sound cloud rapper to perform, then before the main event some chick sings the national anthem, and finally after 8 hours we get to the main event, despite there only having been about 6 before. It's torture to sit through.
Lol 2 things I will never buy a ticket for is a boxing event and a baseball game. Question is which one is more dreadful to sit through
Then your friend either lying or he doesn't exist because there are barely any fights that have concerts in the intermission and the main event only comes out late in the case that they are not ready. This is only differnt on freakshow fights like the one you watched.

I was about to be so disappointed that you didn’t go on a full on rant about the terrible production of the event yesterday. So glad to see this video
Boxing press conferences show that boxers have too much cte to trash talk; they have to let their coaches and promoters talk the whole time.
Yea and I don’t think people realize that boxing is much worse for you than mma because of the cte and mainly headshots
Maybe it’s that boxers don’t need to trash talk to promote a fight. In ufc if you don’t trash talk you don’t sell. Pacquaio sold millions of PPVs without talking trash as well as many other boxers in his era.
Everyone bitching about everything from last night found out why i gave up on boxing 10 years ago and i love boxing as a sport, ive boxed since i was a kid, but as a business it's terrible
Agreed. 20 years ago I was more interested in boxing and had only middling interest in the UFC. It's completely changed over the past two decades. I'll watch at least the main card of nearly every UFC events but only bother to check out a handful of boxing matches a year.
Boxing sucks because it’s so decentralized. UFC love them or hate them books the best fights have consistent production and has less politics. This makes for a better overall product.
I actually disagree. Boxing allows the freedom to explore all sorts of narratives that will never, ever, ever be explored in the ufc.
The ufc is cool and all, but it has a shelf life and it gets old rather easily.

I feel that the 10 rounds of 3 minutes is way too much. It would be better if they did 7 rounds of 4 or 5 minutes, and allow fighters to get in rhythm, this in my opinion would result in more finishes (which boxing has none) and it would shift the way fighters train and condition themselves for the fight.
Ikr, the rounds are fucking ridiculous. At least in kickboxing even though the rounds are short they only have 3-5 so the pace is high, and I wish kickboxing had more rounds

I watched MMA from the beginning of the UFC to about 5 years ago. It has become extremely boring with a bunch of generic fighters who all share the same 3 personalities. Virtually every card looks the same as the previous card, and the fans are also forced to watch women's MMA, which is terrible. Imagine going to an NBA basketball game, and 1 quarter of the game featured women's basketball, that's what you get with the UFC. Boxing also sucks, but there are some fights that I still look forward to. Not to mention Dana's mafia connection, and the fact that this mafia connection is why the fighters get robbed.
And then after waiting more than an hour for the main event, we got Fury taking his sweet sweet ass time waking out. Like holy shit that was frustrating

I agree mma is on the way to surpassing boxing. Definitely in the US. Boxing is alittle bit more complicated though. Imagine the UFC, PFL, Bellator and ONE all had the same amount of money and promotional power. It would be a fight to get the best fighters. Then it would be a fight to build up prospects and make them future stars. Fighter would have more options which for them is GREAT. It for fans that’s not always a positive. Fully agreed on your points but i think are few points in favor of boxing compared to MMA.
1. The Hype, while having so many belts and thus making top ranked boxers of each belt organization fight each other nevertheless it creates hype, can1 compare the hype Manny-Floyd had or Lewis-Tyson to any mma fight?
2. Competitive history of fighters - While boxing builds up numbers of top tier proteges (all of them basicaly starting automathicaly 20-0 before having a first top tier fight), that " 0 " in the record still does hype things up, Wilder beat mostly canes and same can be said for Fury before Wladimir but both of them were creating buzz before finally proving themselves, in MMA you are a novice with little or no amateur background(many mma fighters started late teens or even early 20s fighting, while most boxers start in teens and have 100+ amateur fights before becoming pro) , you win 4-5 fights(also can be cherry picked to boost the odds dependend of who is more marketable and future proof) and suddenly you are in the top tier(top5-8) fighter, and same goes for tittle defending, you defend your title for 3-4 times suddenly you are a GOAT contender, i swear to you lets say today Miocic,Jones and Cain are considered goats for the majority, stop watching MMA for 5 years and then come back you will have some1 else replace them
3. Missmatches - certinaly in boxing there are types of fighters (in/out etc) but they dont influence the fight nearly as in MMA, for example if one of the 2 fighters is top tier BJJ and the other one is a striker i can guarentee you the way the fight is gonna go, almost all the action will be on the ground or attempts to take it to the ground
294 was a really quick event coz most fights was a 1 round finish and it was only like 2 hours
Boxing is still great, it just needs to drop all the multiple titles and have one champion per division, get rid of all the national anthems boring the hell out of us, have better undercards like they did in the 90's and most importantly champions need to fight more often! Fighting once a year just kills any momentum a good fight or champion can have.
Honestly doubt any of those things will happen, what shocked me about boxing vs UFC is how many undefeated ranked fighters there are, I saw that was and was just fed up
the timer that indicated the time until the walkouts came in clutch, i was able to take a nap between the co main and the begining of the concert and then another nap until the actual walkouts

The future of boxing events might just turn into mulitple combat sports within one event. With a couple of the fights being traditional boxing, a couple bare knuckle mma fights, along with a couple bare knuckle boxing fights thrown in.
There is so much about boxing that could be fixed with basically no downside, but BY FAR the most unforgivably simple thing is the fact they can't even be bothered to put together some pictures of the fighters on the card so fans get a face attached to the name. I'm not talking about making promo packages for every fighter, that would cost money and God forbid the PROMOTION should PROMOTE a fighter, all they have to do is copy a photo of the fighters and paste it next to their name. It would take an unpaid intern 10 minutes, and it could do literally nothing but get eyes on the fighters that nobody in boxing cares enough to talk about. Boxing is dying for a lot of reasons, but the least controversial one to fix is to put just the bare minimum effort towards showcasing fighters that aren't already champions. Boxing is dying because basically EVERYONE who isn't a champion is entirely unknown to the boxing audience, not just the casual audience, i mean everyone who isn't hardcore. Boring personalities end up making it to the top because there's no way of finding anyone interesting that the audience can get behind. Even if they're not good, if they end up with even a small fan base, that's more than they had before, and more people might pay for the card if there's even one fight outside the main event they care about. Boxing promoters are literally some of the most greedy people on earth yet they still can't be bothered to try to PROMOTE their own fighters even though they're just leaving money on the table at this point. There's so much wrong with boxing but that's the most unforgivable one because with minimal effort literally everyone could benefit.
So it works like this: the 'best guys' go through their careers crushing cans, like the Arslanbek guy yesterday TKOd a guy in a minute, then they all sit at the top of an arbitrary ranking, and then barely fight each other. This is how you get a couple of guys who are supposedly 'best in the world' like Fury, who then in turn gets exposed by an MMA fighter. Any other fucking sport in the world has a coherent, definitive table which says who sits where, based on the competitions held between them. But not in the worlds most crooked sport/scheme of professional boxing. I hate it because i think its a magnificent martial art,bl but it has been absolutely ruined by its present oligarchy of matchmakers and, also, of how little it has accepted to change since its beginnings
It's different now the best is fighting the best
I'm somewhat of a rare breed actually. I'm the type of guy who was always an MMA fan but slowly transitioned into more of a boxing fan. I still watch UFC alot because there are always good fights being made and I'm too curious to miss them but what made me slowly transition to boxing was I had enough of the wrestlefucking and laying and praying. I think the magomed ankalaev vs jan blachowiz and merab vs Yan really turned me off from mma. You know when people say if you don't like wrestling go watch boxing or kickboxing? Well I did lol, also because I'm training to become an amateur boxer in the future so that plays a part. But Lucas is still spot on, if only the UFC were to start doing boxing promotions then it would be the best thing ever with the way they market fighters and advertise cards

I don't mind it. I'm actually interested in who is actually the tougher fighter and grappling has to be taken into consideration, otherwise it wouldn't be a real fight. The question is how much time you are going to devote to each fighting style. I would just watch kickboxing if I wasn't interested in the grappling which is actually much harder to learn than striking, by and large.
I mean the UFC has a roster of over 100 fighters with unique styles. There are many kickboxers/boxers in there.

Boxing is such a corrupt sport they couldn’t let an mma guy take out the boxing heavyweight weight champ
Unpopular opinion: I thinks press conference with coaches, mentors, promoters, and commentators would be cool, but just do it separate from the fighters as an exclusive for Fight Pass or something.
I love Boxing and MMA, but at the end of the day I would rather people be forced to stand up and fight until they fall. MMA can have entire fights taken over by ground game, which is fun sometimes, but mostly boring.
same i prefer watching Boxing and Kickboxing not UFC
I still think boxing, the actual fight, is more entertaining to watch. I just can’t get excited about watching two dudes rub their balls on each other’s faces. That aside, yeah every other thing about out boxing is trash… the promotion and what seems like dozens of organizations is just awful.
This is the way you feel right up until you watch a boxing match. The amount of hugging they do in boxing is absolutely agonising, like watching paint fucking dry.

Thank goodness I started switching over to mma a couple months ago, boxing has started coming back a bit with nelo and crawford but stuff like this just hurts the sport
Dude this is the best take I’ve heard in a minute. Subbed.
Bruce Buffer also adds to the energy of the UFC fights. Boxing announcers sound like they have to be there lol
Lucas forgot that the boxing promoters are all “crafty vets” and you can never underestimate the IQ of a crafty veteran like Bob Arum.
i think one of the biggest problems is that they only hype up the main events. Boxing undercards are dog shitttttttt
Boxing has been an embarrassment for years but now even normies are starting to wake up to it
Usually don't agree with your takes but god damn i agree with you word for word here. I legit didn't even know the fight was last weekend until i just seen a million reactions videos saying Francis won, everyone who i train with pirated it cause no one actually pays to watch boxing anymore. I couldn't even tell you one other fight on that card hell i didn't even know the event had a card i genuinely just thought the event was francis vs fury. Tbh i'm super biased though i never really like boxing, not to rag on anyone who loves it but to me i always just thought it wasn't close enough to a actual fight to tickle that combat sports itch for me it's why i love MMA.
Yeah there's too much "bloat" in boxing, and I think a big reason is all the different sponsors and promotions involved, this has the benefit of the fighters getting paid a lot more than MMA, but it also makes the conferences, interviews, and build up to the fight too long and complicated. It's kind of like the Superbowl, although in that case people actually tune in for the performances and ads during the game and find it entertaining.
With boxing it's just meant to pad out time until the main event, since that's all people really tune in for, that's the big selling point, unlike a UFC card where fans are actually excited for fights that aren't just the main event.
I think boxing only looks like that within the American scene. It’s doing well in other countries like the Japan, UK, and Mexico. Unfortunately boxing isn’t as controlled like the UFC or other MMA organizations but the sport itself shouldn’t be represented off of yesterday’s event.
Problem is, the major events are like this
Very true what you said, the issue is the moment you wanna become a star you have to take part in this circus.
Here's the thing boxing fans like boxing, end of conversation.
Here's another thing, press conferences all suck!
As a boxing fan I agree with you on the production and average undercards etc - however you saying that the fights are boring is just down to personal preference - personally I much prefer a technical 12 round boxing match than a UFC fight - I honestly find UFC main events often extremely underwhelming, 1st round stoppages etc
SOMEBODY FINALLY SAID IT. “PROMOTERS ARE STUCK IN THE STONE AGE. AND NOONE GIVES A FUCK WHAT BOB ARUM HAS TO SAY”
Both boxing and MMA promotions suck! MMA has become so cringe after McGregor left, it's so embarrassing. Everyone trying to "trash talk" is so overdone and lame. Listening to Sean Strickland try to be funny is unbearable. They should just cut to the the fights: "Welcome to fight night, here is your ring announcer."
Sean Strickland is unbearable? Lol Coner was actually more cringe than him
Exactly lol. Mma fans acting like they’re in a better boat when both sports suffering from the same disease 😂Conor leaving mma has killed some of ufc mainstream Floyd leaving boxing has killed some of boxings mainstream
fight was supposed to be 23:40 my time i arrived like 00:20 thinking i missed it realizing it havent even started yet just to wait an hour 01:20 for the fucking fight to finally start… that was weird ngl is that normal for boxing?
I thought the main even was at 5, so I tunned in. That concert was awful, and it killed the momentum. I could have ran an errand and got back to still see the fight. What a joke, who does a concert before the main event.
Mohammed Usman would beat Tyson fury in real fight.
Parker Porter takes out Tyson fury bro
@@kingt0295 shamil gaziev blob checks him 50- 44 lil bro
I’ve been a boxing fan my entire life and ever since I started watching mma this year, I haven’t gone back
After watching the UFC since the early 2000s and never watching boxing it’s crazy to try to watch boxing events now. The UFC is so masterfully done. MMA fans are spoiled
You just got unlucky with the fights you were watching, watch Crawford vs Spence, Benavidez vs Plant, Inoue vs Fulton, Navarrete vs Valdez (all of these fights were this year) and then try to say that boxing is boring. Agree on the other points though.
This video is about the production / promotion of boxing fights and how boring and terrible they are. He’s not calling boxing in itself boring.
Don’t even know who the best boxer is because they don’t even fight each other, oh I don’t want to fight this guy because I’m only getting this many million instead of this many milllions, I just need all the millions to fight, like bro it a joke
I found bare knuckle the best to watch live for casual viewing the fights are usually quick and or brutal and the next fight on the card happens very quickly compared to ufc or one.
I only watch boxing when it’s Jake Paul vs mma legends , hall of famers, stars , they usually get knocked out or dropped
It's really sad that boxing only gets attention when a UA-camr or former UFC fights.
