Congratulations on your move to FL. I lived there for about 12 years (in the Orlando area and Ft. Lauderdale area). I miss it. What I found interesting was that even though Ft. Lauderdale is further south, the weather was more comfortable because it's closer to the coast. Orlando is so hot because it is so far inland. If you ever get tired of the heat but want to stay in FL, just move closer to the coast. Also people really are nicer in FL than in other parts of the country.
Aw, thank you so much! I can definitely see that, someone told me Orlando is the hottest place in FL, and I think I believe it now 😂. The people here really are so friendly. Thanks for your comment, it really is a special place here. ❤️
I don't live in Florida, but it concerns me that people will move from California and end up voting for the same things that cause 1000 people a day to leave CA. Florida is a beautiful state though, I hope the best for everyone who moves to that slice of paradise :)
I’m from California and am currently living in Orlando. I disagree about the summer weather. I’ll take a 100*F+ dry heat summer day in CA over the 96*F 100% humidity in FL any day! July and August are the worst months here IMO.
Hi! Haha, we can agree to disagree on that one! Modesto summers where it feels like you’re in a nonstop oven from may-October we’re more miserable for me than the everyday thunderstorms that blow through here and drop the afternoon temps significantly! 🤣 But everyone has their own opinions! I agree that August is the hottest/ most humid here for sure. Where in California are you from? Congratulations on your move, also ❤️
Glad to have you, central Fl native here. Explore the “off the beaten path” places of central Florida. “The catfish place” in St Cloud, great food in an old Americana restaurant since 1971. Drive out to Kenansville north of lake okechobee, tons of old Florida cattle country out there.I’ll update this when I think of more, best of luck & merry Christmas.
I'm excited for you to follow your dreams and that everything fell into place. You had a lot on your plate at once for sure but you got through it and now you get to fulfill your long time dream. Congratulations. 😊
Yes my grandparents lived in Florida many years It's friendly The only thing about the south they aren't as health conscious and lots of smokers where California where I live currently has more of a health awareness of foods etc the resturaunts in California are amazing ..!
So glad to have this video, we are considering a move from California to the Orlando area as well. Thank you for your perspective. We are in the central valley and I was wondering how the heat compared. It gets so hot here as well.
Thank you for your comment! The humidity is very real, but if you can survive a Central Valley California summer, you can definitely survive an Orlando summer! We just hide in air conditioning or swim all summer. And enjoy the afternoon thunderstorm winds when they come 😊 I wish you all the best in your journey and feel free to reach out anytime if you have questions about our experience!
Our family of 7 did the same thing in 2021. NY to a central FL. It's definitely a whirlwind. We didn't have jobs or a place to rent (stayed in an Airbnb for two weeks) when we came, amazing how God provides. Our family battled sickness during our transition also. We stayed with family for two weeks before we left and all had a terrible stomach bug, what a send off!!! So thankful we made the move😊🌞
Aww! Congratulations to you and your big family! 💕 love hearing that, and so happy for you all. Getting sick right in the chaos of moving is always a treat!😆
Hello and welcome to Florida! You should come over to Brevard County one day and visit Cape Canaveral to see a rocket launch. We have beautiful beaches over here at Cape Canveral National Seashore, Jetty Park or at Cocoa Beach. Another fun thing is to take the kids on an airboat ride to see the Alligators. We also have the big cruise ship terminals at Port Canaveral if you decide you want to take the kids on a cruise. Lots of fun!
Nice comments like these are part of what make us love living here! We’ve felt so welcomed here and everyone is so friendly! Thank you so much!!!❤️ we recently went to Cocoa beach and have watched a few rocket launches from our front door 🤯😱😍 but we would LOVE to watch one as a family up close in cape Canaveral! I was so lucky to be able to watch one in cape Canaveral back in 2009. Talk about an incredible experience!! We have done lots of Disney cruises out of port Canaveral, but the kids first one will be this spring!🚢😍 I can’t wait to check out the other beaches you talked about and hopefully go on an airboat one day! ❤️
We are from Fresno actually Clovis, so we lived where you are from. But we moved in the opposite direction, to WI! Such a change, it's cold and snowy. We were able to afford 80 acres and my husband raises beef, he's retired from teaching. I miss the Chinese food. Most ppl don't realize that when the 1st Chinese came to the US, they came to CA, so the food is different than anywhere else. Enjoyed the video. My daughter was in her 1st yr. of Hi School when we moved, so it was hard. So it's good your kids are younger.
Thank you so much for your sweet words!😭Wow- that’s a big move for you! Congratulations on making such a scary and exciting change also!! I agree, the Chinese food is SO good in CA! The thing I think I miss the most (other than loved ones) is the food on the west coast.😆 I’m sure that was hard for your daughter in high school at first. I hope she adjusted well after all. Congratulations on the beef business, what an incredible thing to have 80 acres of land. Thank you again for your kindness ❤️
We are in the process of the same thing. I wanna say we are moving exactly from the same region you were at here in the Central Valley. If possible to get some pointers it would be greatly appreciated.
Oh my gosh, how exciting! And scary! And all of the emotions, I’m sure. We used U-pack for moving containers and sold most of our big furniture on Facebook marketplace/ garage sales before moving and started over once we got to Florida. Biggest advice I have is save as much $$ as you can before you move, and take your time researching every potential area. Once you think you have an area in mind, go and physically look at it. Feel free to ask me anything about our move anytime, and congratulations!
Thank you!❤️😊 We sold my husband’s truck because his new company gave him a company car here in FL, and my amazing in-laws offered to drive my car across the country since it was their dream to drive across the US in retirement. We had originally planned to ship my car though!
Moving across country like that is not for the faint of heart even without the real estate transaction. I commend your achievement!!! I must have missed the part about not driving. What did you do with your car in CA? Did you sell the car and buy a new one in FL? How many UPacks did you end up using? This is not a piece of cake.
Thank you so much for your kind words!!! ❤️ It definitely was a wild and stressful endeavor. We sold my husband’s truck, and my in-laws offered to graciously drive my car across the country since it had been one of their retirement dreams to drive across the USA! Otherwise we would have shipped it. Then my husband received a company car once here in Florida. We ended up using 2 of the U-pack containers. We aimed for using only 1, but we underestimated how much stuff we had. Lol
We are also moving out of state from the Central Valley and I’m scared, sad and excited also! I’ve been crying a lot too, so many emotions! We just put our house up for sale and I’m getting crazy anxious!
Oh my gosh, how exciting and scary and all the feelings!!!!! Congratulations to you guys for taking such a huge leap of faith!! It’s so worth it. ❤️❤️❤️ Are you also moving to Florida?
Congrats! I’m so glad I came across your video because I’m in the same boat right now. We are in the process of planning our move for next summer and I’m just filled with anxiety of this whole thing. From selling our house, quitting our jobs, looking for a new home… etc. any tips?
Thank you! Aw how exciting!! And definitely scary and full of anxiety, I know!😅 I think my biggest tip would be to make sure you’ve looked in person before deciding on a town/ neighborhood to live in. When we came out here, youtube videos of certain places did not look the same as when we saw them in person. We LOVE where we’re at here and I’m so glad we came to see it in real life first vs. just from videos online. For us, it made more sense to sell most of our stuff and start over here in Florida because the moving companies/ trucks etc. are so expensive! We used U-Pack moving containers, they seemed to be the best bang for your buck. Also, you never know what furniture from your old place will fit in your new home. Feel free to message me anytime, I know it’s a huge scary change and it helped me to have people to talk to who’ve gone through it! My Instagram is @mamaneedsachurro ❤️
Awesome video! I live in sacramento with my wife right now and I’m thinking about moving to Florida ! So far almost everything seems better over there. Will see if it happens 😊
Hey Silva family! Loved the video and hope you settled down and everythings going well. We're a family of 5, moved from Romania to the US last year and while we're currently in NC, we're really looking into moving to Florida this year. Could you share where in Florida did you all move to? I assume it's around Orlando, but if you could share some good, family-friendly, safe communities there. Thank you so much!
Congratulations! How exciting!! We haven’t seen all the towns in the Orlando area but hear there are plenty of amazing ones! Some that we’ve heard good things about are Saint Cloud, Ocoee, Clermont, Celebration, Windermere, Winter Garden.. I’m sure there are a ton that I’ve missed!
I live near Orange County in California and love to go to Huntington Beach and Newport Beach cause how clean it is. We can’t afford to live in Orange County and want to move to Florida but don’t know what would be comparable to Orange County. Any suggestions? South Florida, east Florida, west Florida, central Florida.?
How exciting! My favorite is south west Florida, the gulf water is gorgeous and the sand is so soft and white!! Definitely a slower pace compared to the Miami area. My personal favorite is lido key, but any of the beaches in the general Sarasota area are beautiful.
30 minutes from Orlando. 😄 Not going to share the exact town for privacy reasons, but we did a lot of research and joined a couple Facebook groups called “moving to Orlando” and “moving to Florida” and there were thousands of people in the groups with great insight on different towns and lots of information! ❤️

Oh hey old neighbor!! To me, they’re surprisingly more bearable than the valley! Because every afternoon a storm rolls in and with it comes lots of wind and it literally drops the temps about 10-15 degrees within minutes! Thank you so much for sharing! We will be moving to Florida too next summer from San Jose, Ca😅
