Thanks Nicole for your info. What is your recomendation about selling price? What is the best performing strategy? Set the prices on our own or let the platform do it?
Definitely don't let the platform do it, their automatic pricing is too low. I usually browse and see what similar footage is going for and then I'll adjust my prices based on that. The rarer my footage is, the higher I'll price it. The more common it is, the lower I'll price it. That's just me though... I don't know what's "correct", just what's working for me.

So i am planning to try out other sites.. But there are not much options.. What is your opinion about being pond5 exclusive?
Hello, excuse my english from google translator. When you upload video to Pond5 you set your price or let the platform do it for you! You only upload videos to this agency exclusively?
how long are the editorial clips you upload there? I mean the ones that sell, I guess. I'm curious if for news related clips it's better to submit longer or shorter. Thx
Great video, got a lot from it. Hope you introduce more stock video companies. Better to market your videos, why stay with just one? Sorry if I was harsh in my last comment, but it's been awhile since I got up at 03:00 or 04:00 hrs. Keep up the great videos.
If I was to go to Pond5, how would I look up your footage? What I see when I put in your name is footage of Nicole Kidman. Am exploring shooting footage to exhibit there, and wanted to see what you put up.
Blackbox is certainly convenient and can save time, although I like to pick and choose which footage goes where - especially since I've got both an exclusive and non-exclusive Pond5 account.
@@NicoleGlass thanks for the reply, Nicole! I'd be interested to learn (in a future video?) what your decision process is for choose which videos to place in your exclusive account.
sorry, one other question, do you upload editorial clips with sound or no sound or both? I know in general clips aren't supposed to have sound but if they are editorial sometimes it works. Just curious what your approach is and if you see a difference in sales if you include sound. Thx
Hi Nicole, I have almost the same question. What if I upload a video containing traditional Javanese gamelan, is it better if I include the audio or not? I haven't cracked Pond5 yet, but I have noticed that most of my small number of sales have been of protest videos. Can I ask what you typically price a 4K video for on there?
@@NicoleGlass OMG.publishing using BlackBox i'm averaging 25$ for 4k drone clips. Do you think it'll be better to upload directly to my P5 exclusive account instead and decide the final price by myself?
Hi Nicole thanks for sharing your infirmation. I think I am not so pacient to grow in stock market. You should upload hundreds of videos or photos and not guaranteed that you will earn money. I still want to try but it just scares me.
Not really. I have a mix of 24fps and 60fps clips and they both sell. However, I'll often film in 60 so that I can slow down the footage and make it more cinematic. I think the most important thing is the actual subject matter and how useful it is to someone, not so much the frame rate that it's uploaded in.
Awesome video Thanks. Do you have any problem with Pond5 shooting political events without getting model releases? Technically, those would be in the public domain.
@@NicoleGlass Oh, cool. Thanks for clearing that up!! Also, If you want to shoot a recognizable landmark like the Washington Monument, Pond5 says a property release is required. Is that true? Seems unlikely.
@@arthousefilms I'm not sure about specific buildings but if they say you need a property release to upload it as a commercial clip, then simply upload it as an editorial one by writing "for editorial use only" in the comments section. The Washington Monument shouldn't need a property release though unless I missed a memo of some sort...
Thank you for sharing this, btw do you keep original footage in hard drive after uploaded and got approved on pond5? Have you ever experienced issues that someone upload your footages somewhere else for selling
I haven't had that issue with footage, but I have had that problem with photos. People would see my "top selling photos" videos, download them and reupload them as their own. It took a lot of mental energy to create DMCA takedown requests for all of them.

Thank you so much for the videos. very interesting and instructive. And what prices do you put on footages on pond 5 ?
I’m constantly experimenting with different prices but for my 4K clips I generally vary the prices from 135 to 179
@@NicoleGlass thank you very much.
Thx
I'd say my average is probably 10 seconds or so, but it varies! :)
Thanks for sharing 😀what about Shutterstock after the changes they had made
Not sure if I should touch that subject....
@@NicoleGlass OK 😊
Hi Nicole. Thanks for a great video! Do you set the price or does Pond5?
You set the price!:)
there is money in ponds? not just tadpoles then
lol
Thanks for sharing! What do you think of blackbox? Is the cost worth it for you?
Blackbox is certainly convenient and can save time, although I like to pick and choose which footage goes where - especially since I've got both an exclusive and non-exclusive Pond5 account.
@@NicoleGlass thanks for the reply, Nicole! I'd be interested to learn (in a future video?) what your decision process is for choose which videos to place in your exclusive account.
Do you have to get a model release when a model is wearing a mask?
Love this, more content like this please! :)
sorry, one other question, do you upload editorial clips with sound or no sound or both? I know in general clips aren't supposed to have sound but if they are editorial sometimes it works. Just curious what your approach is and if you see a difference in sales if you include sound. Thx
If people are chanting or saying something that's relevant to the clip, I'll usually keep the audio
Hi Nicole, I have almost the same question. What if I upload a video containing traditional Javanese gamelan, is it better if I include the audio or not? Btw, I joined pond5 exclusive after seeing your video in june. I have joined Pond5 now for 3 months, and only 350 clips and 3 videos have been sold .. Thank you for all the tutorials.
which platform do you prefer between pond5 vs blackbox? because blackbox will not allow you to upload the same footages on other platforms
I prefer uploading directly to the platforms where I want to sell. I’ve tried Blackbox but it wasn’t for me
@@NicoleGlass thanks for replying!
I write music for pond 5. And I will say that I have good sales, but I only get 30%. Their new policy does not suit me. But what else remains for us?
Hmm I don't know much about stock music but that's unfortunate that the payout is so much lower than it is for video...
Hi Nicole! First of all, thanks for the videos about stock, great work!! Do you only sell your footage on Pond 5 and Shutterstock? What about iStock, Adobe Stock, Dissolve etc etc?
Hi Lennart, I also sell footage on Adobe Stock :) Just focusing on those three right now.
Thanks for sharing. How are you doing with your exclusive account ? I recently became exclusive there but I am beginning so can’t tell anything... but I wonder about pricing... what’s your view about setting price in pond 5 for exclusive files? I am setting higher price like around or more than 150$ and I usually do lifestyle or abstract video
Hi Nicole, do you keep any frequency on uploading or didi you just put your entire library at once?
I am always adding to it. Right now I have a huge backlog of video clips I want to add, but it will take me a while
I haven't cracked Pond5 yet, but I have noticed that most of my small number of sales have been of protest videos. Can I ask what you typically price a 4K video for on there?
I usually vary them depending on how many competing clips there are, typically from 111 to 199 for a 4K clip.
@@NicoleGlass OMG.publishing using BlackBox i'm averaging 25$ for 4k drone clips. Do you think it'll be better to upload directly to my P5 exclusive account instead and decide the final price by myself?
25$ is net (my cut)
@@NicoleGlass thank you!
Hi Nicole thanks for sharing your infirmation. I think I am not so pacient to grow in stock market. You should upload hundreds of videos or photos and not guaranteed that you will earn money. I still want to try but it just scares me.
Yeah, it's definitely not a quick or easy way to make money. It takes time, patience and creativity.
Do you find the frame rate of your clips to be important in terms of sales?
Not really. I have a mix of 24fps and 60fps clips and they both sell. However, I'll often film in 60 so that I can slow down the footage and make it more cinematic. I think the most important thing is the actual subject matter and how useful it is to someone, not so much the frame rate that it's uploaded in.
can we upload same photos & videos to competitor platforms, like same video/photo on Shutterstock, Pond5,etc ?
yes!
So, Pond5 is not so great for stills. So who do you like for stills?
I've moved away from it in the past couple months. Video is just much more worth the effort for me.
Awesome video Thanks. Do you have any problem with Pond5 shooting political events without getting model releases? Technically, those would be in the public domain.
No problem with political events. They’re for editorial use
@@NicoleGlass OK great. Thank you so much!
@@NicoleGlass it's sad there is no such algorithm that can protect video/photo creators copyright as the one for music creators across multiple platforms, life goes on and have to deal with it until solution available :( thank you for answering my question
@@NicoleGlass Does the website not slap a watermark over it? This has me worried as I've been a victim of copyright infringement for years now. Those DMCA takedowns do sap the energy out of life!
@@DiskiDomain Yes, watermarks are added by Pond5. Take a look at their website to get an idea of what those look like.
@@NicoleGlass Thanks so much Nicole. I did before you replied ;) Look safe enough for me. Let me get loading! Thanks for the replay, appreciate it!
Hi Nicole! Do you pay the models in your stock editorial videos? Do they sign a model release? How do you get them to agree to be in from to the camera?
Not sure which videos you are referring to, but I do use my friends as models sometimes and they sign release forms for me. Sometimes we just create stock clips while hanging out.
Hi Nicole! Appreciate this video, thank you! I was wondering how things have developed since 2020? What would be your number one thing you have learned using Pond5 since then?
I've just started there this week and had the first videos accepted, quite excited!
It’s still doing well, although since having a baby, I haven’t uploaded a lot of new news footage. My earnings are pretty similar at this point to what I was averaging in 2020. Number one tip is just keep uploading newsworthy footage
@@NicoleGlass thanks Nicole really appreciate that! Congratulations on the baby ☺️👋
Does a person have to be over the age of 18 to be a contributor to Pond 5?
Thank you so much Nicole for creating such informative channel and videos! Have you find your earnings truly more interesting by being exclusive to Pond5 (vs non-exclusive)? I signed up for exclusivity but have some doubts about it.
I don't understand your explanation on how to earn through videos. Please take your time to explain how it works.thanks
Hi ! Why I do not have any view of mu uploaded videos? I’ve add description, keywords and all my clips were accepted by contributors. How can I improve my channel?
how many days is the review-time for footage with pond5?
It varies. I've noticed that sometimes it takes them 1 day to review my stuff and other times it takes more than a week.
Nice video Nicole, I love Pond5, they are really easy to upload to. Despite my efforts to make sure I'm uploading good content, for me I've not been very lucky with my earnings :-D I guess I need to explore other content
What type of content have you been uploading?
@@NicoleGlass A mixture of content really to be honest but mainly transportation as my transport photos seem to sell well on other stock sites :-)
Hi thank you so much for sharing ❤
Please give your portfolio link 😀😀
hey Nicole, please help I'm thinking of starting uploading stock footage on pond5 but I know travel videos are dead right now. do you think it's worth while uploading and waiting until travel becomes popular again? I enjoy taking these videos
"Travel during the new normal" is a unique perspective on travel. Try making videos of people traveling with masks, COVID signs/rules at tourist attractions... things like that.
@@NicoleGlass hi I really appreciate your reply
madam I am from India. Do I have to fill the tax form in pond 5. Please reply.
I'm not sure what the laws are in India, check with "The Teaching Doc"
