A very interesting video for its mixed subject matter and your reflections on the state of society. Sometimes, one feels other humans spoil things for the rest of nature (and for nature lovers). Finally, I can't resist describing the harvestman you and your wife discovered as a truly niche species😅.
@@theramblingentomologist soon after I discovered your very interesting and informative videos I showed my wife and now she enjoys seeing them. Sometimes beating me when seeing the latest output. I will share on my social media connections.
Unfortunately avoiding used needles is yet another danger to be aware of when out in the field. Small areas of green spaces can often turn up interesting species in numbers. Nice bonus cast of characters you've found there. It's always a great day finding a couple of beetles. Of course the numbers of harvestman. Happy Exploring. 👍👍👍
I am not sure about the harvestman where you are but the species here seem to be attracted to ethanol. I sort flight intercept samples as a volunteer and some of the samples have over 100 harvestman in them, it is ridiculous. I wouldn't be surprised if they are attracted to fermented fruit. I really like harvestman, cool critters! Awesome rhino beetle. I have a few species in my area, annoyingly I normally only find females and low armature (minor) males. It is a shame about all the drug use. Drugs ruin peoples lives and they can become so dependent on them it becomes almost impossible to break the addiction. I just hope at least some of them can get some help, sad reality is most won't.

'Niche' Oh that's clever Anthony. I like it 😀

Harvestmen are certainly one of my favourite orders, with new species regularly turning up in the UK. Always something new to look for 😀
Society. Yuk !
