Thank you, Celia. Yes, I'll be as busy as ever, but now there'll be no distractions to keep me away from doing what I love. And yes, there'll be plenty on moths for you to look forward to 😀
A late congratulations on you retirement. You deserve it. I retired a litte over a year ago and my only advise is to make sure you have a lot of vareity.
You’ve been through some tough times Trevor, sorry to hear that. You certainly deserve a ‘lazy’ retirement and plenty of time to relax and spend more time enjoying the beauties of nature. This is my favourite UA-cam channel so glad to hear you’re still doing vids! I wish you a happy retirement Trevor, you are very young to be retiring at 40! 😃
Congratulations Trevor we wish you all the very best for the future, every day we look forward your videos, now we are both retired, take care my friend.
Congratulations 🎉 I retired early at 63 best thing I ever done. The only trouble is when you get up in the morning you have to check which day it is. The best thing I found is you don’t have the pressures of you must do it today because work tomorrow. Congratulations again hope you enjoy your well deserved retirement. Peter W
Thank you Peter. I'm already completely unaware of whatever day or even date it is, as I've had five years 'practice' so to speak. And you might be pleased to hear, that I have little or no intention of knowing what day it is 😂😂
That's great news. Our emigrating to Scotland encouraged me to retire early, rather than find another job (maintaining websites, funnily enough). I struggle to comprehend how I sat behind three computer monitors for eight hours a day now. I still don't spend as much time as I'd like immersed in nature, although I'm always mindful of its presence. Looking out of our kitchen window, during the summer at least, it's easy to pretend we're on the edge of a forest. Your videos are inspiring me to venture into those trees more. Bereavement is a strange beast. I became an orphan shortly after moving here - another factor in my decision to stop paid work. Losing parents, a sad but natural progression, is a different grief to losing somebody chosen as a life partner. I hope your retirement allows you to take more joy from the flora and fauna, and from continuing to share the knowledge you and Dilys gathered.
Thank you Catherine and thank you for your lovely words of support too. Beautifully written and worded. Sorry to hear of the problems life has dealt you, but thankfully, you sound as though you've come through it all with a great outlook on everything. Life can be cruel sometime and often difficult to find that one thing giving you the reason to carry on. Nature has certainly done that for me, but creating and developing this channel has been the real life saver. I just hope that I can continue to help other people enjoy nature in some small way, to give back what I've been given by so many wonderful people from all parts of the world, through my seemingly never ending 'ramblings'. ❤
Congratulations Trevor on your retirement. Looking forward to more of your pleasant ramblings. I retired 5 years ago, ended up with less time for my hobbies than when I worked!!!!
Bless you. It’s time for you now. Keep well, keep happy and healthy. Don’t let anyone invade your brain. Go and be you. I lead a very quiet life and my socialising for most of it,is here. I crave the solitude as soon as anyone is in it for a few hours. I have had a lot of time to get used to it. 🙌👏🏻👏🏻👍
Ahh thank you Glenda. Not heard from you in a while, but I really hope you're OK. We have a lot in common regarding quiet lives and socialising. I too love solitude, rarely craving for company now, but I'm happy to live my life as it is, and to share what I get up to with the world, via this channel. Take care 🙂
@@theramblingentomologist I am still around,I check in occasionally but I’m around… I try and reduce the writing because of my eyes but it’s hard to not write anything. What is guaranteed in our lives is quiet peace ,no stressors,no reason to feel hyped . Mind you I’m going to have 2 kittens shortly after my birthday in a few weeks- but that’s a different level of company and quite frankly I have missed my cat this last nearly three years- he was my shadow and the ole man at 28yrs old. And the summer months have certainly guaranteed plenty for me to look at just outside my back with the birds and my tiny herb garden and micro green salad. Plus a squirrel came as far as a foot before it noticed me this morning haha. This is definitely what I love.i feel I’ve reversed back to my teens and early twenties as I was quite solitary besides work. You too trev. Take care,be happy always ☺️☺️
Congratulations on your retirement. Having recently retired myself (at the end of March), I have made two pleasant discoveries: 1) Time has slowed back down noticeably. I no longer blink and find that a whole season has passed. 2) Having lots of things I COULD do (including wandering around on foot), I can stay as busy as I WANT to. Enjoy!
Thank you so much, that's very kind of you. For much of the time, it doesn't seem much different to what I've been used to for the past five years not working, but I do know that it's very nice to know I have nothing to do each day, apart from what I want to do. That's joyous.
I began like you, 10 years ago, in Nature but now the rot's started to set in it's not so easy, unfortunately. Now, when the time comes, I'll be ready.
Such good news Trevor and well deserved. As a new follower of your channel and recent retireree its great to hear your approach to your change of status. No bucket list, no grand plans no pressure on yourself, aside from your recording goal 😂 To be content, observe and gently educate us through your wonderful videos is your gift to us, long may it continue. Thank you Trevor.
Trevor, well done for taking the plunge, I retired at 60 and it was the best thing I did, I don’t know how I found time to go to work. As we were listening to this video, two goldfinches landed on the Teasels outside our living room window, we’ve been seeing a lot of them lately. You really are inspiring, hope you have a peaceful retirement, doing what you want to do 👍
Thanks Richard. Well I've had some practice at retirement, but as I've mentioned to someone this morning, I have no intention of ever being bothered about what day it is 😀I did see your Goldfinch videos. Lovely birds and song. I have memories of that song twittering/jangling type song.
@@theramblingentomologist just been away for the weekend and stopped off at Boston on the way home, walked down to the Wash via the 40’drain, loads of oyster catchers, they’ve got a beautiful song too, thank goodness for the Merlin Bird ID app , so useful 👍

HAHAHA, like the humour and the way ur brain works. You're an endless source of inspiration. Thank you Trevor...
Well that's news to me Kilian .... that I had a brain and apparently it's a working one 😂
Glad to hear it isn’t the channels retirement Trevor.
Oh, the channel's not going anywhere. Filming these videos is the reason I'm still here and I absolutely love it 😀

May your journey be filled with many wonderful new discoveries. The one thing that will never get old is being out in nature. 👍

All the very best Trevor, you clearly love your hobby and that's a great thing to have with more time on your hands.

Well, I have sort of been practising for five years, Ray, although a somewhat unwanted kind of practice. But hey, here I am 😊
All the best in your retirement Trevor, you only get one shot at life, do it the way that suits you!
