- In this episode I head deep into Platypus Bay off of Fraser Island. Fishing reef patches in 20 metres of water with jigs. I catch trevally, mackerel and some fat queenfish before the bite shuts down.

g/day luke , i only have a 3.5 mtr tinny , 15 hp 4 stroke . i am new to plastics , any hints, advice as tides and spots to get a feed, cheers .
G'Day Mate - probably the easiest place to start with plastics is to fish drains and creek mouths for flathead etc. Just use a slow wind or a single hop retrieve. Slow down and dont rush and dont be scared to leave the lure resting on the bottom for a bit. I am a big believer in timing my fishing with tide changes. I usually fish those areas from an hour before low tide till an hour or two after. 👍

Samurai Extractor Light Jigging Rod with a 4000 sized Shimano Stradic ci4+ spooled with 15lb Platypus P8 braid and 20lb Platypus stealth fluoro leader. 👍
Great vid thanks for sharing. I'm thinking of coming up to the bay in the school holidays to fish breaksea and platypus bay. Got any advice on what species to target for the July time of year?
All the winter species mate, trevally, snapper, mackerel etc
