Hope you have a manual. I had a GL Silver Wing. Wish I could send pics. The GL had luggage, fairing, and a removable rear seat , it trunk. I bought a conversion that allowed both passenger seat and trunk. The GL had air ride with monoshock.
@ I paid $100 for it. Rebuilt it and rode it for a couple of years. My riding buddy had a car hit him head on killing him instantly. Didn’t ride it for years and sold it for what I had in the rebuild. $1100.
Power lifting your way through QC. Nicely done sir! I’m a visual learner so it makes way more sense to see it done. You’ve got carb removal down to a near science too!
A lot of years ago, I had one of those. Sweet little motorcycle and a lot of fun to ride. Very dependable. Sold it to buy a Honda Shadow which ended up being sold to get a Goldwing.
It seems like the chain of events for many riders, the bikes just keep getting bigger for longer travels. Hopefully be riding this one in the spring. 🤞🏻
I wound up replacing the whole engine in my GL500 because of a leaky water pump seal. I tried replacing the seal, but I've never had much luck with shaft seals. That was the beginning of the end for that bike. After getting the other engine in, I found that the battery was not charging. I replaced the regulator/rectifier. That didn't change anything, so I pulled the engine out, pulled it apart, and replaced the stater coil. Put it all back together, and it still wasn't charging. This was in January of 2022, and since my bike had been out of commission since September, 2021, I just rode it like that. I just had to charge the battery every day. (I now have a pretty good idea what owning an electric motorcycle is like). What's worse than the charging system not working, was the fact that if the engine was still warm, the bike would not start until it cooled down. That made refueling an hour long process. I still rode it almost every day and at some point the charging system started working intermittently. So I only had to charge the battery once a week or so. After 2 years dealing with that BS, I was thinking about getting another engine. But the bike had 119,000 miles on it and it needed more than just the engine (which would have cost around $750). So I started looking for another 1982 GL500I. I only found 2 in my price range on Craig's List. One in the Pittsburgh area, and one in Connecticut. I'm in Philadelphia. I finally found one on Facebook Marketplace with only 15,000 miles on it. The old one is completely taken apart, now. I wish I had seen this video 2 years ago. Happy New Year to you and Jess.
That sounds like a nightmare! I’m willing to try a lot of repairs myself, electrical is still tricky, but I’m learning. By now just about every problem with these bikes has been discussed on forums. If there’s a solution, it’s out there! 😂

Doing great, Lad! Keep on the journey of moto education!!

Sounds like a good touring setup. Just about anything anyone would ever want to know about these is online somewhere now. 👍🏻

@@nigelhazlewood4822 I’ve watched some of his videos, didn’t know he had a podcast. 👍🏻
@ he has his own channel where he also rides his Triumph Bonneville and other bikes where he reviews them
Brilliant ✌️👌🤘😎🇺🇸
I have been listening to necronomapod for years. Very entertaining, if you're into crime stories and ghost stories stuff like that.
@@adambatko4773 not at all 😂 but Jess likes all those ghost hunters’n stuff, but thanks!
